My mother received medical care that was above and beyond what I could have hoped for during a 2 week respite stay. The staff were unfailingly helpful and patient. If my mum can not live at home, there is nowhere else I'd prefer her to be.

My husband has dementia and we go to two meetings a week at Sunnybank House Care Home, on a Monday is coffee and cake, sometimes there is entertainment or we have quizzes or play games, which help a lot with memory. On the Wednesday it is a Ladds and Lattee morning. Where games are played and they talk
to help recall their memories. Their partner goes in a different room for coffee, where we can have a good talk about what's going on and help if any is needed. It is very good all round.

My mother came into Sunnybank House Care Home after 9 weeks in hospital. It's the most wonderful place. Every member of staff has made my mother feel very welcome. Not only my mother but all her family were welcomed as well. All her care needs are being met, nothing is too much trouble. I cannot praise
Sunnybank enough for everything they do.

My mum was previously in another care home as Sunnybank was full when she was discharged from hospital. 3 months later, we moved her to Sunnybank and she settled immediately. The staff are always amazing, courteous, kind, always treating her with the utmost respect and dignity. She has previously enjoyed
the entertainment and activities such a great variety. The only reason I can't put excellent for value for money is that care home fees in general are extortionate. Sunnybank is in line with others but all are so overpriced.

I was recommended to this comfortable, large luxury establishment, which looks at feels more like a hotel than a care home. I have been very well looked after. It has given me peace of mind to know that help and support is available when it is needed. All the staff I have come into contact with are
very helpful and cheerful and I have made friends with some of the residents. I have certainly benefitted from my stay here and I feel I will be able to cope with daily life when when I get back home. The food was poor but has improved since the chef stepped down and a new one being sought, so it should improve more.

The care that my mother-in-law has received at Sunnybank House Care Home over the last 7 1/2 years has been nothing less than exceptional. She originally went in for respite care but it quickly became apparent that Sunnybank would become her permanent home, as a family this was a tough decision to make
but made so much easier knowing she wouldn't get better care anywhere else. The home is spotlessly clean, smells lovely and the food is excellent.
Without exception, every single member of staff are friendly, welcoming, approachable and it's clear to all that they genuinely care about the residents and their families.
My mother-in-law has recently passed away and the care we have received as a family has been wonderful. The night she passed away the team on duty treated her and us with the utmost dignity, respect and care.
We feel truly blessed to have had the Sunnybank team looking after her and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I would highly recommend Sunnybank House Care Home. From the moment I made contact, I was guided through the process and given all the information I needed. Every carer has been superb, my aunt settled immediately and has been so happy. The attention, care and surrounding are spot on. The rooms are
spacious and decorated beautifully. There are many interesting activities for the residents and we could not find any faults here.

We visit regularly to see my sister and am thrilled to see how happy she is and well looked after. There is always so much for her to join in with and we are also made to feel so very welcome. Her room is ideal, very clean and the meals sound wonderful. All the staff work very hard and when I see any
of the managers, they are always very friendly. I'm very happy we chose here.

We have been very impressed by the level of care given to our mum since her arrival. We can now relax knowing she is safe and well looked after. The team are all so welcoming and friendly and go out of their way to make mum feel at home.

Mum's care is excellent. The staff could not be kinder, more helpful, or more attentive. And it shows that although she suffers from full-blown dementia, and when she was at her home she was very anxious, now she is settled and content. This is the best place for Mum. She loves it here.

Very happy with the excellent services provided by the home. The staff from reception to housekeeping are so friendly, approachable, and eager to help. Mum also says the food is good! Every effort is made to provide Mum with a gluten-free menu. We are so happy that we chose Sunnybank.

My brother and I looked at 3 care homes almost a year ago, prior to choosing Sunnybank, and were uncertain between 2 of them. In the end, it was the homely feel of Sunnybank that won us over then knew we'd made the right decision when taking our Mum for a look around. Her first impressions showed her
face light up then the more she saw, heard, and experienced made her want to stay. She still feels she won the care home lottery. We do too. Just everything is better than we ever hoped for. The ambience, staff, care, meals, and wide range of activities while not forgetting the helpful maintenance chap. All seem to go above and beyond. What impresses me personally is that all the staff always ask after me too. It's Care with a capital C throughout.

We visit Sunnybank as my husband has been diagnosed with dementia. Having been advised by others in a similar position we have been attending for around five months taking part in the activities provided.
The activities organizer is brilliant and twice a week we attend to partake in a range of things
which a whole group enjoys.

Staff are so kind, caring and compassionate. Sunnybank is a very happy place for Mum to live, with staff who really care about residents' wellbeing and experiences.
The many activities in the weekly schedule are varied and stimulating, and the 5 week Christmas programme of activities is amazing!

My husband has dementia and we first used Sunnybank Care for respite in June 2024. Unexpectantly he enjoyed his visit. Since then we have both enjoyed the community organisation that Sunnybank often puts on. They are always very welcoming and I think residents enjoy interacting with a wider community.
This is a care home that cares - and it shows.

I'm delighted to express my gratitude to the Sunnybank House Care Home and team. My father was resident for 2.5 years with advanced dementia before he passed and received the highest levels of care in terms of all the specialised equipment and intensive attention that his circumstances needed. He outlived
his medically estimated prognosis by a considerable margin, which I personally attribute to both the frequent visits of my mother and the diligent care of the Sunnybank team. My mother is also now a recipient of this friendly and competent team in addressing her significant needs as a bed-bound resident in palliative care. The staff even take time to interact with visitors such as myself, which allows us to be integrated into the friendly environment of personnel caring for those in residence. Beyond this, the staff seem backed by a competent and engaged management team who respond promptly and helpfully to any changes in circumstances arising. Well done to all.

We cannot praise Sunnybank for the compassionate care they give to her. Having just returned from the hospital back to the home she has been in a fragile state. The team at Sunnybank quickly assessed and reviewed the care package to ensure that her path to recovery was best achieved. Nothing is too
much trouble and any necessary equipment such as a special mattress is provided. It is never an easy decision to move a loved one into a care home however every day proves that we made the right decision.

Job Title: General Manager

What I do:
As the general manager for Sunnybank House, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our home. I work alongside every department in the home to ensure we deliver the very best experience to our residents.


I will regularly be found around the home with our residents seeking feedback and discussing new ideas and initiatives on how to have a continued drive for excellence. Team development is a huge passion of mine and I work tirelessly with my Sunnybank colleagues to ensure they have everything they need to provide the very best care and support.


My experiences:
My career in the care industry started when I was 15 where I took a washing up role in my local nursing home. I developed a great passion and buzz for supporting people and very quickly knew that this was the career I wanted.


I worked hard to progress and learn every role within the home with the goal of one day being their leader. I have held every role in the home in my time, even stepping in to cook lunch on a few occasions. I joined Cinnamon in September 2022. In my role I assist in the smooth running of Sunnybank House, ensuring that residents and families of those are always communicated with. I have extensive training in looking after those who live with Dementia, I currently hold a Level 3 in Health and Social Care and am now working hard to complete my Level 5 in Health and Social Care. I have a passion in developing staff members to meet their full potential and providing support to them as they need.

Paul Burrows-Gibson

Job Title: Senior Activity Coordinator

Joined: 2022

I joined Cinnamon in December 2022 as one of the Activity Coordinators and my role has been to arrange a wide range of activities for the residents of Sunnybank working with the other Activities Coordinators. Since 1st May 2023, I have been the Senior Activity Coordinator and working on ways to create many new activities, increase intergenerational work and welcome more volunteers to work alongside the activities team.


I worked for 14 years in Stroke Rehabilitation in the late 80s and 90s before working in Community Care. I am an experienced events coordinator and this has worked well with my current role. I have also worked with people with dementia in the community including training associated with the support of people with dementia. I have now been able to use all my experience to the benefit of the residents and their families.


I was born and bred in Hampshire and now live in Fair Oak. I have been with my partner for 19 years. We enjoy walking, gardening and going away for walks in the countryside

Job Title: Head Of Housekeeping

What I do


My role is to lead and supervise the housekeeping staff. We provide a high standard of cleaning and laundry within the home.


My experience


I have worked before in a hotel and another care home as a housekeeper. I was a housekeeper before here in Sunnybank House before I became a head housekeeper.

Job Title: Maintenance Manager

Joined: 2014

I am conscientious about keeping Sunnybank House well-maintained and safe for our Residents. There are a lot of hidden checks and Statutory inspections that I like to keep up to date.


The most satisfying part is helping the residents make their rooms personal to them whether being hanging pictures or organising their rooms to their liking.


Having worked at Sunnybank for 7 years all the residents know me well and I have a great relationship with all of them.


My Experience
I worked in the construction industry for 30 years and found the experience gained invaluable in my current role. I was the first employee at Sunnybank House and was responsible for overseeing the handover of the building in 2014.
