Sunnybank House is the best home I have ever been in. I am a nurse and carer and I have worked in nursing homes for over 40 years. Sunnybank House is friendly, clean and full of activity. Staff are very dedicated, knowledgeable and caring. All staff are very helpful to both residents and relatives.
I am so grateful my uncle is able to spend his last years in such an amazing place. It's a hard thing to put relatives into a home but I know my uncle is having the best time with friends.

As a regular visitor to Sunnybank House, we have found the care to be of the highest standards all of the time and we have visited other homes over the years and Sunnybank is definitely the most welcoming and the care, activities and overall cleanliness are second to none.
From the warm welcome at
the reception and the outstanding care staff who have ensured our friend is always up and ready for our visits to the outstanding range of activities provided by the activities team, are enough to make anyone happy. The social life of our friend who lives here is better than ours.
For anyone looking for residential care or dementia care, Sunnybank is by far the best place locally and we look forward to continued visits to our friend for years to come.

The care and compassion is second to none! Having arrived with trepidation, I found many caring staff willing to go the 'extra mile' to make me feel welcome. After only a week, I spent a week in hospital, after which I wanted to 'come home', which is why this now seems 'home' to me now!

Our mother was in the care of Sunnybank for two years, and overall, very pleased with her care. From reception staff to her care floor, they were always very friendly, kind and helpful.
My mother developed Alzheimer’s and became bedbound, we made the very hard decision that a care home was the best
choice for her. We were very fortunate that a friend recommended Sunnybank, and we got a place for her. My mother settled immediately. All her anxiety stopped and she was very comfortable and happy there in her beautiful room. Thank you, Sunnybank.

I am coming to the end of a 2 week respite stay.
I have really enjoyed my stay, a bit like a holiday with clean en-suite room and best of all a lovely dining room with a lovely menu and waitress service. All the staff were always happy to help with a smile.

It has been over six months since my previous review and my mother-in-law, who moved in last July, continues to tell me how lucky she is to be in such a lovely home. My wife and I have visited my mother-in-law one to two times a week every week since she has been there and every time we visited we have
always been so welcomed by all staff, from the staff on reception to all the blue coats (that's what she calls them!), caring staff, plus the senior activity coordinator and the activities team. This whole experience, which was life-changing for my mother-in-law, could not have gone any better and we always leave with a contented feeling that she is so well cared for and seems very happy. She also really enjoys the activities, especially the singing events. Well done to all at Sunnybank House.

First impressions here good and this continued, the carers were attentive and responsive. However, some of the equipment is seeing its age - lifts are prone to failure which is frustrating to residents. Overall I look forward to spending my final years here (currently 87 years). My wife and I are very
happy here. With a few tweaks here and there it can go from excellent to superb. Will recommend to everyone. The cleanliness and attentive staff are beyond reproach, always room for improvement. As above highly recommend.

We have had regular servicing and maintenance on much of our equipment recently and we are so pleased to have been able to have two lifts to enable all residents and visitors to ensure easy access throughout the home is available. At home I shower unaided because I have hand grips on the wall and was disappointed that these were absent from your showers. I enjoyed every other aspect of my stay.

My husband has clearly been very happy here and well looked after. He tells me that everyone has been really friendly and helpful. He has always spoken positively when I have spoken on the phone. He has enjoyed the food and activities. They have helped with showing him photos of my trip as well as being

A wonderful place for all to be in; residents, carers, volunteers, staff and etc. My mother-in-law refers to it as 'the hotel', I agree. A wonderful place to be. James Greene

Job Title: General Manager

What I do:
As the general manager for Sunnybank House, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our home. I work alongside every department in the home to ensure we deliver the very best experience to our residents.


I will regularly be found around the home with our residents seeking feedback and discussing new ideas and initiatives on how to have a continued drive for excellence. Team development is a huge passion of mine and I work tirelessly with my Sunnybank colleagues to ensure they have everything they need to provide the very best care and support.


My experiences:
My career in the care industry started when I was 15 where I took a washing up role in my local nursing home. I developed a great passion and buzz for supporting people and very quickly knew that this was the career I wanted.


I worked hard to progress and learn every role within the home with the goal of one day being their leader. I have held every role in the home in my time, even stepping in to cook lunch on a few occasions. I have worked in both small and large companies in home, regional and operational manager roles but my passion lies in home management where I can spend time each day with the amazing residents we have.


About Me:
Outside of work I enjoy working out, heading to the cinema or spending many hours by the side of a river or lake fishing.

I joined Cinnamon in September 2022. In my role I assist in the smooth running of Sunnybank House, ensuring that residents and families of those are always communicated with. I have extensive training in looking after those who live with Dementia, I currently hold a Level 3 in Health and Social Care and am now working hard to complete my Level 5 in Health and Social Care. I have a passion in developing staff members to meet their full potential and providing support to them as they need.

Paul Burrows-Gibson

Job Title: Senior Activity Coordinator

Joined: 2022

I joined Cinnamon in December 2022 as one of the Activity Coordinators and my role has been to arrange a wide range of activities for the residents of Sunnybank working with the other Activities Coordinators. Since 1st May 2023, I have been the Senior Activity Coordinator and working on ways to create many new activities, increase intergenerational work and welcome more volunteers to work alongside the activities team.


I worked for 14 years in Stroke Rehabilitation in the late 80s and 90s before working in Community Care. I am an experienced events coordinator and this has worked well with my current role. I have also worked with people with dementia in the community including training associated with the support of people with dementia. I have now been able to use all my experience to the benefit of the residents and their families.


I was born and bred in Hampshire and now live in Fair Oak. I have been with my partner for 19 years. We enjoy walking, gardening and going away for walks in the countryside

What I do


My role is to lead and supervise the housekeeping staff. We provide a high standard of cleaning and laundry within the home.

I have worked before in a hotel and another care home as a housekeeper. I was a housekeeper before here in Sunnybank House before I became a head housekeeper.

I am conscientious about keeping Sunnybank House well-maintained and safe for our Residents. There are a lot of hidden checks and Statutory inspections that I like to keep up to date.


The most satisfying part is helping the residents make their rooms personal to them whether being hanging pictures or organising their rooms to their liking.


Having worked at Sunnybank for 7 years all the residents know me well and I have a great relationship with all of them.


My Experience
I worked in the construction industry for 30 years and found the experience gained invaluable in my current role. I was the first employee at Sunnybank House and was responsible for overseeing the handover of the building in 2014.
