My Mum recently passed away, having spent the last 14 months at Priors House. It was awful seeing her suffering from vascular dementia but we were extremely happy with the quality of care that she received. They even put up with the mischievous side of her character which meant that she tried to escape'
in her early days. The lock codes had to be changed. However, the staff were so attentive and looked after her every need. My sister and I felt very guilty arranging for her to go into a care home. Nevertheless, once we witnessed the way in which they looked after her, we knew we had made the right decision. I cannot thank the staff enough for the fact that they treated her with respect and dignity and they did their level best to ensure there was contact between us, even once the lockdown had started. Priors House was recommended to us by a number of my friends and it was easy to see why.

My Mum was in the dementia unit at Priors House for 14 months and I cannot fault the care she received throughout. The staff dedication was faultless and I always came away feeling that she was in the safest possible hands. She adored the staff who displayed endless patience with all the residents.
Although Mum wasn't able to participate in many of the activities there was a lot on offer from an enthusiastic entertainments team. As a family, we can't thank Priors enough for the care Mum received which was fantastic.

I have entered my mum into Priors House. All I can say from the 1st time I contacted them they have been courteous, informative snd professional. All the staff seem friendly and caring. The facilities are like a 4-star hotel.
One member of staff, in particular, was fantastic, knowledgable and caring.
She made the whole process of entering my mum into the home straight forward and painless. Thank you.

Mum spent the last few weeks of her life at Priors House. The whole staff team are fantastic and provide a very high standard of care - they looked after Mum with dignity and respect and were cheery and positive in their interactions. She felt safe and as a family, we felt reassured that her every
need was being met. The facilities there are first-class - the buildings and grounds are well-appointed and well kept. The food is varied and nourishing - they make meals on request in addition to the menus which was so welcome when Mum didn't feel able to eat a full meal. Mum enjoyed the countryside setting and was lucky enough to have a room over-looking the garden and the fields beyond - the views of the nearby horses really cheered her up and kept her company. As a family, it was so useful to have no restrictions on visiting times, to be able to eat in the dining room together and to be treated ourselves with such care and compassion by the staff. I would highly recommend Priors House.

This care home built within the last 5-6years is conveniently situated on the edge of open countryside with nice views from one side. The residents are on two floors. The rooms and corridors airy and well decorated and furnished. This home has a cinema, 2/3 libraries, hot drinks and restaurant facilities.
The food being excellent. I cannot speak too highly about the care and kindness shown to my wife by all staff (particularly) the nursing duo during her relatively short stay. The home is well managed throughout and the staff respond to this leadership in every way.

My mother became a resident early December 2019 after being in a local hospital for a short time. She had advanced ovarian cancer and was given weeks to live. Her palliative care and support was beyond excellent. The staff were caring, friendly, encouraging and went above and beyond to make her last
weeks special and she always felt loved. She had nothing but praise for them and their personal touch and positive attitude. Her room, the dining areas, cafe, garden and lovely countryside views were all pleasant and well maintained. I highly recommend Priors House.

Since my friend entered your care home three and a half years ago, the care levels have remained unchanged in that period. The care is of the highest standard at Priors House and I could not imagine any other home in the country exceeding those experienced at Priors House.

Every one of the resident staff was very professional, caring, willing, helpful and cheerful. Some of the agency staff were not so good and even quite poor. The chef was always willing to provide an alternative to the current menu.
(Very slight criticism - toilet paper! Could have softer/quilted).
I
was very happy and well cared for in respite after a new hip and would return in the future if needed to.

I can honestly say that the care I have had in Priors House has been as good as it could possibly be. All the people in charge, people who serve the meals, cleaners and girls who arrange all the activities, not forgetting people who see you are OK during the night, or the lovely ladies who come around

My Father spent the last few weeks of his life in your care. The care he received was of a very high standard, we as a family were treated with kindness understanding and support at all times. You all made his last few weeks more bearable at a very difficult time. I will remember being in his room with
him and family looking out over the fields hearing the cockerel crowing and seeing the birds eating from the bird feeder on his window, thinking as a countryman it could not have been better. I was a nurse for 41 years and saw many things in my working life, I feel so proud to have got to know you all from the housekeeping and catering teams, the Nurses and senior management. You are an amazing team, many thanks to you all.

I can honestly say if anyone is looking for a care home for a loved one then Priors House should be your first choice. My husband stayed here for 10 months and I visited every day. He felt very safe and well looked after. All the staff were outstanding, very helpful, friendly and really cared for my
husband. They are also very welcoming towards all visitors. The food, activities and level of care are excellent. Priors House is spotless and nothing is too much trouble. There is a lovely warm atmosphere from the moment you walk through the door.

My wife, who suffers from Alzheimer's has stayed at Priors House for two months after breaking her leg. The care she has received has been absolutely outstanding. The care staff have shown astonishing patience when facing moments of difficult behaviour. Equally impressive has been the warm welcome to
myself and family. The facilities and activities have been first class and provided in safe and clean surroundings. It has been of great comfort to know that she is being looked after so well. The overall impression is of a happy, caring family.

Job Title: Home Manager

I managed care homes before I joined Care UK and was even an area manager, overseeing a number of homes. I’ve also worked as a ‘turnaround manager’ – helping care homes to gain regulatory compliance – so I’ve lots of experience in care homes.


There’s a lot to do when you’re a home manager, but the best bit is having a coffee with the residents and chatting with them. When I can I also join in with activities because it’s wonderful seeing residents enjoying themselves – after all, that’s why we do what we do. I love seeing happy residents living fulfilling lives in our warm and friendly home.
