I have always found the staff responsive and caring. The facilities are excellent and we always find the atmosphere good. The design of the building allows my mother to wander at will in a safe environment without becoming lost and distressed.

The home is light, airy and spacious with what one may describe as "wedding venue" style! Lovely wall spaces for display but, alas, no art!
Equipment, where provided, of a high standard but apart from dining chairs, chairs have been chosen for looks rather than utility. e.g. Most are far too low to
allow people to get up from, no riser/recliner chairs that I have seen.
One hairdryer for 92 occupants- kept in hair salon. Activities are backward looking and do not provide stimulation on the whole. e.g. Too much showing of 50 and 60-year-old films etc and patronising singsongs. Major film showed on TV in unsuitable room while the purpose-built cinema was used for a meeting.
Wonderful atmosphere which is non-restrictive, free and easy and the young staff are a delight. Food- adequate but some cheap food e.g wet, cold, no excuse.
Please note I have given a full verbal report to the manager.

With regards to your comments about the food offered, all our meals are freshly prepared and cooked by our own chef using quality ingredients. If you have a particular favourite dish that you like cooked in a particular way then our chef will only be too happy to prepare this for you. With regards to the provision of hairdryers, this is certainly something we will review.

All very good except for the food - poor quality ingredients, badly cooked and presented. Meals served often different to the printed menu. Activities often cancelled without warning and not geared to residents interests. Also poorly advertised. Visitors made very welcome and an open atmosphere.

All our meals are freshly prepared and cooked by our own chef using quality ingredients. If you have a particular favourite dish that you like cooked in a particular way then our chef will only be too happy to prepare this for you. Our menus are prepared in advance and there are times when plans have to change, due to ingredient availability. Checks are now in place to ensure the displayed menus are correct. With regard to the activities, there are occasions when they have to be cancelled due to staff sickness. However, we do try to minimise this as much as possible so that we don’t disappoint. We provide a wide range of activities based on residents interests but if there is a particular hobby or activity you enjoy then please don’t hesitate to mention this to the lifestyle team

Friendly staff, a good program of activities and food which mum likes. My only gripes are that her hearing aid isn't always working when I visit (so it isn't being checked) and once she got taken on a trip on a day she should have been at a medical appointment.

We are sorry to hear your concerns about your mums hearing aid. Your mum was self-caring with her aids since she moved in but has been struggling to put them in and didn’t ask our staff for help. Now, following our conversation, we have an agreed plan that your mum’s carer will be responsible for ensuring her hearing aids are in.
With regards to the missed appointment, your mum decided that she wanted to go on the outing rather than go for her appointment. As your mum has capacity we have to respect her decisions.

Overall very pleased with everything apart from meals.
If restaurants can provide hot flavoursome meals I can't understand why Mum's is so bland and served on cold plates - prefers tinned soup rather than cooked on premises.
Staff are very good and friendly.
But I do think she is in the best place
even if she doesn't.

The atmosphere in the care home is generally very cheerful. Reception are extremely pleasant and make you feel welcome. The home made cakes and biscuits along with the accessible drinks really make a difference when you visit and it is really nice to be able to share a drink with your relative. The
cleanliness is generally good and the home always smells clean, however, the cleaning staff often appear rushed and the little things don't get done.


The care staff are always very professional, treat the residents with respect and dignity, often in challenging situations. The only failing here is when things get promised and then don't happen, like nail cutting and baths. The activity staff could be more proactive in rounding up residents.

Our housekeeping team do their very best to ensure all bedrooms are cleaned regularly, however, on occasion the residents are reluctant. Going forward the cleaners will more flexible with their schedules and will try to accommodate the cleaning of your father-in-law’s bedroom when it is vacant, which he is happy with. We hope this has addressed any concerns you had but please do contact the home manager if you have any further feedback at any time.

Great home, can't complain but, sometimes staff are a bit too rough but that's because I have a frozen shoulder to try to look after and it's very painful.
I had an X-ray last year showing inflammation around the shoulder joints. I feel I may be ringing my bell too much because of staff shortages.
The girls have more important things and people to look after apart from me.
Personality, in my opinion, is very important in this situation.

My mother-in-law moved here in February 2017. She came straight from hospital at very short notice to the home. She has settled in well thanks to the staff and stimulating environment. The facilities are extremely good and we noticed that she was called by her name immediately, the staff seeming to
know her instantly.
A very good sign that this was a very caring environment.

My mother came in two years ago and was treated very well indeed, like part of a big family. Unfortunately, she died within the year, due to ill health. Now my Mother-in-law is a resident here and is also very well looked after, although she needs nursing care as well.
Whenever we arrive, we are always
treated warmly and feel very welcomed by all the staff.

Mum was made very welcome in her initial few weeks and she has continued to feel content to be a full resident subsequently. Her health and visiting family are given good attention too, so yes we are happy that mum is being cared for by happy and attentive staff.

I would like to say how grateful we are to all the staff at Scarlett House for their kindness and the care which they gave my mother at all times. My wife and I have been very impressed with all aspects of the care and services provided at Scarlet House. My mother, who is 90 years of age, settled into her new home very quickly and soon felt at home there. She feels very happy and secure there and this is a great comfort to us. We visit every
day and always receive a warm and friendly welcome from the managers and staff that we meet irrespective of their roles at Scarlet House and this makes for an uplifting experience.

We have been so impressed with all the staff and facilities at Scarlet House. The care they have given to settle my mother in her new home has been exceptional. The staff have been able to identify her needs and worries and deal with them accordingly. She is now so much calmer and happy in her new surroundings,

I have been delighted with the care received by my mother for her one month of respite care at Scarlet House. Initially I called in to see if I could look around and I was immediately welcomed by the home manager and given a detailed insight to life at the home. Mum stayed for a month and was treated
with warmth, respect and dignity. During that time I saw her grow in confidence, settling into life with the support of the staff. No job was too difficult for the staff, they always had time for mum and me. I think mum was actually happier here than at home and I put that down to the high standard of thoughtful appropriate care for an 88 year old lady with memory problems.

During my mothers respite care, all staff were extremely helpful and caring, not only to my mother but us family members also. Unfortunately my mother became ill during her stay, the staff on duty called a doctor and informed us immediately. Two days later my mothers condition deteriorated and staff
called doctor she then went to hospital. I cannot stress how highly I regard the staff and their devotion to duty.

My mum was transferred to Scarlet House from hospital for end of life care. All staff introduced themselves to mum then dad and myself. All staff asked mum her preferred name, what she would like to be called. All staff give mum personal care using privacy and dignity. All staff relate to other residents
with respect. All staff are happy to assist mum with dietary needs even when they are very busy. They spend time feeding her at her pace, not rushing her.

I have visited my friend three times in this care home and would like to say how happy it makes me knowing my friend (aged 92) is well cared for. Every time I come I meet more members of staff - all so helpful and polite to my friend and myself.
Very thrilled to see (and hear) that all the staff are
local! The décor is amazing, the place is wonderful, five star service.

Suzanne Tullet

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2023

Having previously led the team at Winchcombe Place I’m excited and feel privileged to lead a new team and ensure that everyone’s supported, working together and managing a team I’m proud of.


I started my working career after studying for a Pharmacology degree, which led me to work in a community pharmacy and after hearing all the wonderful things about Care UK I wanted to try something new in my career, so I joined Care UK.


Previously at Care UK I was Deputy Manager at Winchcombe Place and have taken part in the Future Home Manager Program to help me develop my skills and understanding of home to be a successful home manager.


Within my role, I believe you need to be knowledgeable in a wide range of key areas, responsible, approachable efficient and understanding which has helped me develop a successful team.


Outside of work, I love to dance and previously I’ve been featured on television in a dance competition.
