Under new management who has made positive changes. The nursing and care staff are excellent. The environment is always clean and tidy. I can see the improvements already coming through.
I am now happy to call this my home.

I can not recommend this place highly enough. Nothing was too much trouble for Mum. The staff were so so kind and caring. The views of the river always made us smile. The home always had a calm and loving feel. Thank you.

My mum has recently had a health crisis, and the staff have dealt with this with huge compassion and patience. I can't fault the care that mum has received, and she is settled and happy. She enjoys the activities (and so do I).

Mum came here directly from the hospital after and was bed-bound and on a significant amount of medication. She left the nursing home to move to a residential home on a frame and stick, getting back to her normal self.
The nursing and care was excellent, facilities were good and clean.

Mum was in the home for about 2 years. Staff are very friendly and caring and building is lovely. Would definitely recommend this home to anyone.

My father loved his time at Gwen Walford even though his last few weeks there were obviously difficult for him, the nursing staff there were amazing. My brother and I were with my father for his last 10 days & they treated us extremely well too, with copious amounts of food and drink and were always
very respectful and courteous to my father.

My mum received excellent care whilst she was in Gwen Walford House. Whenever I saw the staff there they were always friendly and knew my mum well. Accommodation and food standards were also excellent. I felt happy that Mum was safe and well there.

On visiting my aunt at Gwen Walford House I have always found the staff very caring and kind. The food looks good and not a smell of cabbage in the air! The activities seem appropriate to the residents and overall I feel it is a safe careing environment for my Aunt. Visiting Gwen Walford House has dispelled
my concerns about care for the elderley with everything you hear in the press.

I recently visited my aunt at Gwen Walford House and was delighted to see how happy and content she was. We chatted about the nursing standards, the level of care and attention and she was very impressed. As a visitor, I was equally impressed by what I witnessed.


There was a team of friendly and

caring staff who were both keen to help both residents and their family and friends during their visit.
My Aunt was very enthusiastic about the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food and from what I saw, I can understand why!

Gwen Walford is a wonderful residence that has put our family to ease when it comes to my grandfather. The staff are helpful, inclusive and professional - an attitude that seems almost to spread, as all the residents are kind and social with one another. It seems to be one big group of people that are
encouraged to spend time together.


The rooms are always spotless when I visit, and from what I can see the food is carefully produced and tasty. I have nothing negative at all to say about Gwen Walford Home, nor it's management, and I would recommend it to anyone.

The home surroundings are amongst the best that we looked at when choosing a home, but what confirmed our decision was the fantastic service, (the staff were always only too happy to help), The food always seemed fresh and well prepared and there always seemed to be plenty of activities to get involved

Since my grandmother moved in she seems to be a lot happier. She's making friends with other residents and getting involved with some of the activities. They put on a good range of activities. There always seems to be something going on. She enjoys the food, they give her a good choice and there is
lots of it. The building and its surrounds are very impressive.

The staff are brilliant, very friendly and nice to all the residents. The senior staff and managers are very approachable and always around if you have any questions. Gwen Walford House and Hampton Grange nursing homes are outstanding !!
The carers that looked after our Uncle were wonderful. it meant a lot to our family to have peace of mind that he was safe and so well looked after.
He settled in very quickly and enjoyed his life there as he met new people and
made friends. He was very happy.

I wholeheartedly recommend Gwen Walford Nursing Home. The staff are wonderful, they are so caring with nothing too much trouble. They are professional and empathetic. Great Granny had such an amazing time there, it was always so nice to go and visit her in her very luxurious room. The food was also

The staff at Gwen Walford are very kind to my great aunt. Very forthcoming and welcoming to me when I visit. I always get offered a cup of tea and cakes. From what I have seen of the food it looks delicious! Whenever there is an issue, the manager always comes to see me, no matter how small. The rooms
are very clean and well decorated. My aunt looks out over the river. From my understanding, there are a variety of activities available, although my great aunt cannot take part in these. She does, however, have regular hand massages and hair appointments. I cannot recommend Gwen Walford House enough.

Gwen Walford is a first class care home. The senior staff are experienced and very caring. Residents are treated with respect and given as much personal attention as time permits. The home is occasionally short of staff with agency carers filling the gap.


The premises are very well appointed and

The level of care and the staff are excellent. They are caring and understanding and nothing is too much trouble for them. Facilities in Gwen Walford House are excellent, well thought out and high quality. My friend praised the quality of food, however, my friend is now unable to make further judgements,
but the staff persevered with feeding and have discovered that she loves her high protein diet. However, the finances leave much to be desired. Duplicate invoices were issued at the commencement of stay, due to the local authority constantly reviewing their contribution. I raised this and it was referred to Head Office. Despite constant telephone calls, nothing was forthcoming for over six months- when they delivered the biggest load of imaginative rubbish that I could not have written had I been scriptwriting for a television soap.
