Willows Care Home is a friendly and modern nursing home in a pleasant residential area of Romford. The home provides person-centred nursing, dementia and palliative care, as well as short-term care for people who need some looking after following a stay in hospital or whose family/carers are temporarily unable to look after them.

Willows has been designed to offer all the facilities that residents need while retaining a warm and homely atmosphere. There are 72 bright and spacious bedrooms spread over three floors. Each is comfortably furnished and has an adjustable automatic bed, nurse-call system and a TV.

All rooms have ensuite or wet room facilities and large windows. Some ground floor rooms also have French windows opening onto the garden. Residents are encouraged to personalise their room with pictures, family photographs and ornaments of their choice.

Each floor has a team of nursing and care staff that is available 24/7, supported by dedicated teams of chefs, activities, administration, housekeeping and cleaning staff.

The communal areas provide plenty of space for residents to entertain their guests, who are always welcome to stop by for a chat. There is also a dining room and lounge on each floor where residents can gather for meals and group activities or socialising. As maintaining a homely feel is important, the lounge can be arranged to suit residents' preference for quiet time as well.

There is free Wi-Fi as well as lift access throughout, and both the home and the garden are wheelchair accessible. The home’s dedicated on-site salon provides regular hairdressing services.

The large, landscaped garden at Willows offers plenty of seating space to enjoy in pleasant weather when the ‘garden café’ provides residents and guests with tea and fresh pastries.

Mum has been living at Willows Care Home for 15 months and the care she receives is excellent. Staff are professional and caring and very responsive to feedback. Nothing is too much trouble and everyone is very welcoming. The manager is extremely dedicated and effective, communicates very well with
residents and relatives, is visible around the home and is focused on continuous improvement of the quality of care. She has made a very significant positive impact on all aspects of the home since she became the manager in Spring 2020. What is most impressive, is the way Willows has responded to the COVID crisis. Residents have been kept safe and healthy. Attention has been paid to activities to help support residents' welfare. Love the hens. Communication with relatives has been excellent. The approach to visiting has been caring, imaginative and safe, so I have been able to visit Mum regularly, which has been so important to our happiness during these difficult times. Very well done.

Willows Care Home is an amazing place! My aunt has lived there now for about 18-months, and due to her Parkinson's, can be difficult. The staff and care she receives are amazing! The manager must have been created for the role. She is caring, professional, conscientious and approachable. The office
manager is super efficient and dedicated to his role. Nothing is too much trouble. The entertainments team constantly strive to be imaginative with what they provide for the residents. Afternoon tea, film events with hotdogs, no reason to be bored at all. Food is well prepared and nutritious, my aunt constantly says how good the food is. The carers are very supportive of the residents and again are very professional. One of the carers, in particular, provides so much support to my aunt and has a particular knack of calming my aunt when she is particularly anxious.
A wonderful caring home that I would have no hesitation in recommending!

My sister stayed at the Willows for a short while from 10th March - 27th April. She received end of life care. I found the staff to be caring, professional and approachable. They always kept me fully informed of my sister's condition and any changes that occurred. The Willows seems to be a wonderful
place to be, and it's only a shame that my sister wasn't well enough to enjoy it.

Dad became a resident at Willows in November 2018. I can honestly say that the staff here were so caring to my Dad, helping him with his every day needs, especially nursing care, and were very helpful to ourselves too. The home is kept spotlessly clean and his room had everything that he needed. We
will miss coming to Willows now that Dad has passed away.

While in Willows, he was very well looked after, staff were caring and he always had a good relationship with the staff. My dad was spending time in the reception and he was a very friendly man. Highly recommended for the

My mum has been in Willows Care Home for nearly three years with mixed and vascular dementia and has been bedridden most of that time. She's really happy and always well, looks cosy and likes all of the staff who never walk past her room without popping in and are always checking on what she's eating
and drinking.

I visited the care home as a visitor at a coffee morning put on by the care home. I had previously visited and was shown around. It is an amazing place. I noticed how light and airy it was, beautiful gardens and very clean, not "smelly". All the residents seemed very happy there and were always going
out or having some entertainment each day. Outside their rooms, they had a picture and a few words about themselves. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and attended to residents as soon as they were asked. The events co-ordinator was amazing at her job and did so much for the home, painting murals, making cakes (which were delicious) and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a place.

My father's been a resident now for 4 years. Spotlessly clean care home. Regular entertainment, either going out or singers coming in. Choice of foods good. They will always try to accommodate my father's needs. To be honest the care home gives a feel of one big happy family. I know where my home will

The Willows turned out to be the best place for my dad to end his days. He was cared for with dignity and respect, care and compassion. The home is very well cared for too, it is constantly being cleaned, the food is of a high standard and a good choice.

My mum has been at the Willows for nearly four years and sadly passed away at the end of January. The home has always met our expectations and we know mum had been very happy, even with her dementia. In all ways, the care and consideration shown to us over the last few days though has been truly excellent.
Mum returned from hospital after a short stay to spend her last few days at the Willows but sadly this ended up being for just two days. even though my sister and I didn't make it to her bedside in time, I know she died surrounded by her other family who loved her too.

My mother has been a resident of Willows for 3 months now and she has said that she feels really comfortable and content there, the nurses and carers on the 2nd floor are all friendly and helpful to help make her feel welcome. The management staff are very friendly and welcoming at all times and willing
to listen and discuss any concerns that we raise. The family was anxious about placing mum in a care home but we all rest assured that the care and support provided by the staff at Willows have put our minds at rest knowing she is being well looked after. The Willows are the most professional home I have ever seen. So clean and beautiful grounds. The manager and all the staff down to the kitchen staff are wonderful.

My father has advanced dementia and after a very stressful period, Willows was the only facility we could find locally that was able to meet his complex needs. They have managed to stabilise his physical health as well as his mood and he now seems as comfortable and content as we could hope for in their
specialised unit.


The permanent staff at Willows are very kind and committed, and do a great job. We are more than grateful for their care.

This review relates to the second floor, dementia residents. The home is purpose built and only four years old.
Private car park, 'fob' entry, security guard, two lifts per floor.
Reception; Welcoming, visitor book, always someone around.
Rooms; decor is good spec and calm colours.
Kitchen; Very
accommodating, good food and service.
The majority of carers are good, one or two excel at caring.
Agency staff tend to not be good enough! A 'carer' that doesn't 'care' needs to get a job elsewhere.
