Chesham Leys is a contemporary and welcoming nursing home providing care for people with a wide range of needs including dementia.

The dedicated team of care workers pride themselves on getting to know every person and believe that by understanding their uniqueness, care can be personalised to meet each individuals needs.

The layout of the home has been designed to support and enable a person living with dementia by including ‘features’ throughout the home to make it easier for people to navigate and enjoy the home.

Each wing has its own comfortable lounge and dining room, which are great places for catching up with visitors and also for socialising with other residents. Chesham Leys also benefits from an on-site hairdressing salon and a lovely enclosed garden.

Also on offer are rewarding activities including cognitive stimulation therapy, art therapy and reminiscence activities.

Full-time staff are excellent, including the nurse - considerate and caring. The home is warm and clean. The staff and management are very helpful with any issues. The food/standard of food needs to be improved to make the experience for Mum, excellent. I would say, overall, it is very good.

We viewed Chesham Leys Care Home and I instantly felt comfortable. The home is clean, fresh-smelling and, more importantly, the staff are happy and smiling. My mother-in-law looks so much better than I have seen her look for a long time. As I hadn't been able to visit recently, the marked difference
in her is astounding. She is so happy, she is happy to stay here. My mother-in-law loves the food, the staff, the room and feels like she is thoroughly spoilt. So glad we chose here. The admin staff are amazing, helping with necessary paperwork etc.

They do a fantastic job. The effort they put into stimulating and challenging residents with events is so appreciated. My wife's mother was in a home in France for multiple years. Each time I share the details of my mum's life, my wife says "I wish mine had been in a place like that".
They operate
the facility with care and concern for their residents. The informative and fun newsletter each month shares details of the activities and other important information.
The administrative staff are very responsive. As an ex-pat living 5,000 miles away, I am comforted to know that my mother is in such a supportive, comfortable environment. My understanding is that meals are of good quality and varied.
Thank you to all at Chesham Leys Care Home who makes it a good way to live.

I have motor neurone disease and can’t talk or eat. I’m fed through a tube in my tummy. I can’t walk and can just use the mobile phone.
My problem is they change staff so much, some are very good, but some don’t understand my problems and I can’t tell them. Some of the nurses are very good but some
don’t understand my feeding system. Some of the carers are very good but the newer ones don’t understand why I can’t speak and get very frustrated.

Our mum is living at Chesham Leys, and she suffers from advanced MSA, (a rare form of Parkinson's disease). She is very disabled and can barely communicate. Mum is receiving excellent care from kind and professional staff who regularly update my dad on Mum's wellbeing. The manager and her team always
make us feel, and throughout this difficult time, they have allowed us to have limited visits in a Covid secure environment. A big 'thank you' to all at Chesham Leys - we feel my mum is safe with you. I would recommend Chesham Leys.

My brother is a resident at Chesham Leys and has been there since November 2020. Sadly, due to the current restrictions, I have not been able to visit him. I phone the home on a regular basis to check on how he is and the staff are always so helpful and understanding. They can't do enough to support
his family. He is in the best of care and has been made comfortable and safe. It has been such a relief knowing that he is being so well looked after and I thank all the staff.

Chesham Leys is an excellent, safe and secure nursing home.
All staff are extremely caring with empathy, rapport and compassion for their residents and resident's relatives. Every level of care and nursing is met with total dignity and devotion.
The management of the home is outstanding, keeping
relatives informed of every step and transition, offering multiple choices wherever possible.
I cannot thank them enough during these testing times of COVID caring for my incredibly vulnerable mother with severe dementia.

Our Mum has been at Chesham Leys for a few months now and after a rather long period of isolation, she is now getting out of her room and participating in activities. The family have all noticed how much happier she is since arriving at Chesham Leys and how much healthier she looks. The staff at the
Home are very responsive - particularly the Business Support - and we get regular updates from the nurses. We feel confident that Mum is now in the right place for her and is settled, happy and healthy. She has even managed to get herself on Facebook more than once and coped with family Skype calls! We thank everyone who is making her life comfortable and safe, and we look forward to meeting you all in due course when visiting is more 'open'. Best wishes to all at Chesham Leys.

My sister moved to Chesham Leys three years ago when it became impossible for her to live alone. She has been so happy here and we are all delighted with the care she has received. She has told us that she loves all her meals (having previously been a "fussy" eater!), and she enjoys and benefits from
the activities which are organised. We are so grateful to all the staff for doing such a superb job, especially in this difficult and challenging year. Thank you!

Chesham Leys is situated on a hill with pleasant views. It has two well-kept gardens for use by residents and visitors. The management and staff are particularly attentive to my wife's needs and call me with updates on her condition. Due to covid-19 restrictions, I have been unable to enter the premises,
but the staff make every effort for garden visits. I would rate this care home as excellent.

Well, it was rubbish - horrible staff (joking), the opposite really. Very kind and attentive, professional but approachable. They helped me a lot. Broke my leg badly and they helped me recuperate fast. Food not bad, good, a little room for better evening meal options. I would like to thank all the staff
there, miss you - some more than others.

I cannot recommend highly enough this wonderful place and staff, my 88-year-old Father stayed here for 2 weeks for rehabilitation after breaking his hip in a fall during the COVID lockdown. The unit within the home had only been set up the week before to help hospitals with rehabilitation of patients
due to the circumstance with COVID and the way they adapted was incredible. He has received the most amazing care from every member of staff, totally professional with very high hygiene measures in place to prevent any risk to staff and residents from COVID. They have worked very hard with him and helped him to regain his confidence to walk again and get back to independent living once more. The staff are amazing and did everything in their power to make him comfortable and feel welcome after a very different experience in Hospital due to COVID. Their professionalism in every aspect was fantastic and I can honestly say my Father's treatment and care was 100%.

A remarkable home. Absolutely first class in every respect.
The bedrooms and shared areas have been freshly decorated, and the furniture looks new.
The staff we met were all caring and skilled in knowing what to do in a given situation. Some (shame they can't be named, because they deserve special
recognition) showed an extraordinary level of empathy, care and attention to my mother ensuring she received the best level of attention.
Food was varied and prepared to suit her needs, in my mother's case, it had to be pureed.
Questions to all staff were quickly answered and/or actioned.
Administration and management is very good and we were given much helpful advice at a time when we needed guidance.

Marina

Marina King

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 1992

Marina started her career in care in 1984, working in residential and dementia care settings for older people. Marina has worked for The Fremantle Trust since it was founded in 1992, and has been the registered manager at Chesham Leys since 2019.


Marina has always enjoyed being part of a team, working to ensure that people in our care are treated with dignity, respect and compassion; and that they receive person-centred care, which is fundamental for everyone. Leading a team of staff, and working with others to make a difference to the people we support, are Marina’s daily motivations.
