Chesham Leys is a contemporary and welcoming nursing home providing care for people with a wide range of needs including dementia.

The dedicated team of care workers pride themselves on getting to know every person and believe that by understanding their uniqueness, care can be personalised to meet each individuals needs.

The layout of the home has been designed to support and enable a person living with dementia by including ‘features’ throughout the home to make it easier for people to navigate and enjoy the home.

Each wing has its own comfortable lounge and dining room, which are great places for catching up with visitors and also for socialising with other residents. Chesham Leys also benefits from an on-site hairdressing salon and a lovely enclosed garden.

Also on offer are rewarding activities including cognitive stimulation therapy, art therapy and reminiscence activities.

My mother was admitted to Chesham Leys for respite care. I cannot praise the staff enough for their efficient, professional and caring attitude. Nothing was too much trouble for them. This was the first time that Mum had been in a home and all the staff made her welcome and comfortable in the new environment.
Mum settled well and the improvement in her health was outstanding. A big thank you to you all!

My wife arrived at Chesham Leys in May of last year. My wife has been treated very well from the carers. The carers are very good, caring and compassionate. I have also been treated very well when visiting.

I find the staff very nice, especially the carers.


The food is nice but I would prefer brown bread in my sandwiches as white is harder to digest.


My favourite activity is art and visiting singers and everything they organise for us. I especially like trips out.

My mother moved to Chesham Leys from another care home where I was unhappy with the care given. Within hours of arrival my mother it was clear the standard of care here was significantly better than where we had been previously. Within 24 hours I was very upset with myself for not moving my mother
to Chesham Leys years earlier.
My mother died recently at Chesham Leys, peacefully surrounded by her family
I wish to acknowledge the excellent professional and compassionate care my mother and her family received at Chesham Leys. Everyone we came into contact with, cleaners, cooks, carers, nurses, managers, were all first class. The staff at Chesham Leys made my mothers passing as easy as it could be for my mother and her family.

The care my father has received has been excellent.
The staff and I mean by that all of the staff, from carers, cleaners, nurses, management, have been the most excellent standard, communicating any problems promptly, efficiently and clearly.
The general care, meals, drinks, cleanliness also excellent.
Also
personal care such as barbers, shaving etc - excellent.

Chesham Leys is an extremely well-run Nursing Care Home. The Management Team and staff are excellent, very caring and extremely supportive. They know my Father-in-laws nuances, needs, likes and dislikes and adapt their care accordingly. His bedroom is spacious and the home very clean. Sometimes record
keeping can be a bit loose but more importantly, they are genuinely caring and that is the most important thing. I cannot recommend Chesham Leys and staff highly enough.

The nursing staff are always willing to hear of any concerns regarding the residents and give advice as appropriate. The business support officer is also a valuable member of the team dealing with admin queries.


The nursing staff and trustees arranged a meeting including residents representatives.

I found this informative as we were given an update on staffing levels and other relevant issues, then we were invited to asked questions/concerns. This was a positive experience. I am very satisfied with the care my family member receives and know he is in good, safe hands.

My sister has been a resident at Chesham Leys Care Home since October 2014. My sister was born with achondroplasia a form of dwarfism, she is in fact just 3feet 4 inches tall.
Her situation is therefore very different to other residents in as much she is at least 15 to 20 years younger than them.
My
sister is mentally very astute but sadly for the last two years has been able to walk and is confined to a wheelchair.
The care she receives at Chesham Leys is second to none, the care team are always kind and considerate to her nothing is ever too much trouble.
They all treat her as a friend and take the credit for making her happy and relaxed as possible in a care home environment.
Those visiting my sister often say Chesham Leys is more like visiting a high class hotel than a care home.

My wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and dementia 11 years ago.
Unfortunately, she needed 24-hour care and five years ago was admitted into a care home and was very well cared for during a very difficult period.
Two years ago she needed nursing care and was moved to Chesham Leys nursing home, both
homes managed by Fremantle.
Fortunately, staff were transferred from the care home to Chesham Leys and she has been extremely well cared for by a team of excellent staff and management.
I really can't praise them highly enough.

My mother's night wear and underclothes went missing and she was left to sleep in her clothes. EVERY meal she was served was absolutely stone cold, not to mention she was diabetic and still not give regular checks, nor suitable food. The quilt she was given was lumpy and nothing much covered her, so
I had to buy her a new one as she was so cold. Unfortunately, she was taken ill on the night of 19th May, but somehow, Chesham Leys didn't contact us. I received a message at 3.10am, as my mobile phone was off overnight, saying the paramedics had been called, but mum had died. We had neither met, nor spoken to anyone in charge, they had taken NO details or contact numbers, in the 3 weeks she had been there, so didn't have landline number either! No care plan had been discussed, no treatment was discussed and no interest had been taken whatsoever! I had the police come to tell me what had happened at 5 am. The whole episode was traumatic and devastating for our family!

My husband was admitted approximately 18 months ago. I found Chesham Leys Nursing Home to be run efficiently by the management staff, always willing to help immediately despite their own pressing office duties.
Carers were equally helpful, good humoured and patient with all the residents.
The nursing
home has a responsible training scheme for staff which encourages staff to specialise in their roles i.e dementia.
Food, rooms and facilities are excellent. Residents with difficulty eating/swallowing are extensively encouraged to eat and drink, given blended food where appropriate.
Doctors visit regularly and will consult with relatives when necessary.
Well behaved dogs are allowed to visit residents - a normal life being so important to residents and their families.

Marina

Marina King

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 1992

Marina started her career in care in 1984, working in residential and dementia care settings for older people. Marina has worked for The Fremantle Trust since it was founded in 1992, and has been the registered manager at Chesham Leys since 2019.


Marina has always enjoyed being part of a team, working to ensure that people in our care are treated with dignity, respect and compassion; and that they receive person-centred care, which is fundamental for everyone. Leading a team of staff, and working with others to make a difference to the people we support, are Marina’s daily motivations.
