Heol Don is a modern purpose-built facility, ideal for a wide range of residential, nursing and dementia care needs for the elderly. An experienced care team tailor care plans to individual needs for short or long term requirements including respite, convalescence and palliative care, as well as care for dementia residential.

Heol Don offers first-class accommodation and facilities including sensory gardens, a hair salon and even an on-site cinema. All bedrooms have ensuite facilities and are equipped with ergonomically designed furniture to provide a comfortable and safe environment. The interior has been carefully designed to enhance care practice and homely comforts, with a wheelchair-friendly vision and support for personal interests.

Nutritious meals are prepared by trained chefs and there is even a night-bite menu for any late snacks and drinks. All dietary preferences and tastes are catered for.

I always receive a warm welcome from management and staff when visiting my friend. It has been a very easy process to arrange visits and testing during the pandemic and I have had window, garden and recently indoor visits. My friend is looked after extremely well by the staff and is very complimentary
about the care and support she receives. She enjoys the food and the daily menus look very appetising. The standard and cleanliness of the facilities are excellent. She is always encouraged to join in activities and it is nice to see photos of her taking part on the home's Facebook page.

Excellent convalescent short term care. The staff could not do enough to provide support and help.
The accommodation is of a very high standard and the underfloor heating is most effective.
The standard of catering is first class.

I came to Heol Don for three weeks rest and recuperation following a cardiac arrest and four weeks in hospital. During my stay, I received the highest standard of care from the staff, regular meals and a comfortable room. The friendly atmosphere and can-do attitudes of the carers helped me really feel
at home and recover so that I could return to my home. I would stay at Heol Don again and recommend the home to anyone who was looking for the highest standard of care.

I cannot recommend Bupa Heol Don Care Home in Cardiff highly enough. My mother is currently staying there following surgery as she requires care in order to recover. She arrived at the start of April and is now ten days into her six week stay. From the moment of first contact, everyone has been extremely
friendly and helpful. I have been offered a high degree of reassurance at a worrying time due to the level of professionalism on offer, from management level through to the staff providing day-to-day care (Covid safe measures). Nothing has been too much trouble. Everyone has been at great pains to help my mum to settle in. Mum had to quarantine on arrival but had immediate access to the gardens from her comfortable room. I have been able to visit Mum in a pod behind a screen and this worked well and we have face-to-face visits coming up soon as she is now out of quarantine. I have been in daily telephone contact with my mum and she doesn’t stop raving about how caring everyone is.

The staff at this care home are very friendly and helpful. They have welcomed Dad, helping him to settle in and integrate into the home. Dad is enjoying the food and said that his room is very nice.
Mum and Dad have been very lucky to have had a few “pod” visits and their first indoor visit this week,
which they both very much enjoyed.
Overall, I cannot find fault with any aspect of the care provided at Bupa Heol Don and would like to thank everyone there for their ongoing help at this difficult time.

I am very satisfied with my situation here at Heol Don Care Home. The rooms are lovely, and we are very well looked after by the staff. The food, in particular, is very good, and we are able to have a variety of food to suit our needs, as long as we provide the staff with reasonable notice.

My Dad went to Heol Don, Whitchurch mid-March 2020 for five weeks respite and then lockdown arrived. Consequently, Dad has remained in Heol Don ever since and both he and I have been very happy with the situation. Thank you. My daughters and I have had several window and one garden visit and Dad looks
well and happy. During our video and phone calls, he is jovial and all the staff are truly caring. We highly recommendHeol Don and Dad is now a permanent resident.

Having viewed other premises, our mother moved to Heol Don at the beginning of February 2020 and only a few weeks before lockdown. Importantly, our immediate impressions of Heol Don were very positive; all staff were friendly and empathetic to our concerns and helped make the transition from home to
residential care as seamless as possible.
The management has been extremely efficient not only generally, but specifically against the backdrop of maintaining a covid free environment for vulnerable people and their carers for which we are grateful and appreciate the stress that they have had to deal with. Mum is very happy and is much less anxious than when living at home. She enjoys the activities, the food and company. Staff have been great and are respectful of Mum's needs and wants. Communication and responses from the manager are prompt and regular and reassuring for us as a family during this fraught time. She has been very responsive to any queries I have had.
