Set in a quiet suburb of Birmingham, the home overlooks Calthorpe Park, with many rooms having fabulous views across the park, including the lounges. Upstairs rooms also have access to balconies and a stunning roof terrace. Mom has been in this care home for 15 months. No complaints whatsoever. She has been cared for brilliantly under sometimes difficult conditions. I would praise all the staff for their care and good humour whilst doing a difficult job. I admire their patience and attention to all the residents on floor
one. I take my hat off to all of them.

My husband has been at your home for 2 years now. Myself and my family are all extremely grateful for all the care and attention he gets from all the staff on the first floor. They attend to all his needs and they are all happy to do so. We as a family are very grateful for all the hard work they do

A very warm welcome as soon as you walk through the door. All the staff are exceptional, going above and beyond with my mum's care and comfort. Everyone is so friendly and put you as a family at ease. Even in a short time, they just go that extra mile in all aspects of nursing and care. The hospitality,
and a clean environment, but still gives a lovely homely feel. Mum now part of the Edgbaston Manor family has more than exceeded my expectations.

Mum (95), who is blind and has mobility issues, is one of Edgbaston Manor's longest residents. She moved in nearly six years ago, to assist with dad's care - looking after him at home had become impossible. After viewing 17 Birmingham care homes, the family was losing heart. Few homes have staff with
the necessary expertise to manage challenging, mixed dementia, but one day a chance turn took us past the newly opened Gracewell of Edgbaston and the perfect place had been found. Mum was delighted! Dad's needs were going to be met with care and professionalism, she could visit him whenever she wanted, for as long as she wanted and everything else was home from home. The dedicated staff are second to none! The cosy en-suite rooms, scrumptious meals, activities, and patio/pretty garden for exercise - simply great. Dad has now passed and Mum needs much more care herself, but not a day goes by when Mum doesn't consider herself enormously lucky to be where she is today - surrounded by friends.

I would like to praise the staff for the wonderful way they celebrated the life of Queen Elizabeth II on her sudden death and ensuring the mourning period. They helped the residents understand what had happened, displayed photos, enabled them to pay respects and view the funeral. They decorated and
displayed tributes and flowers appropriately and helped us all celebrate her life and mourn her passing.

Mum has Alzheimer's Dementia. I looked after her at home for many years, but it became unsafe for her to be on her own. It took her a while to settle, but she calls her room 'home' now. Over the 18 months Mum has been there, everyone has been brilliant. Lovely room, beautiful surroundings, good food
- sometimes too fancy for the residents, and the staff are second to none. They go above and beyond to care for Mum yet also allow me to be involved in her care too, keeping me regularly updated. Definitely a godsend. Thank you.

I have been going to visit for 4 years now. It is always pleasant to go there. The staff are very good and kind. Even to the visitors, making it worthwhile visiting - I go twice a week. I look forward to it. My friend is really happy in the home. There is everything he wants. If he's in any trouble
they come straight away to help. Nothing is too much trouble. (They deserve a medal sometimes.) But they just say it's their job. There is always doctor and nurses at hand and they always explain to you what is happening. It's good we can go in and visit. It makes his day and mine.

The ladies at the reception are pleasant and very helpful on the phone and in person. Staff on the Memory Flow are gentle and caring towards the residents. My husband has been here for only the month but has settled down well into his room. Meals are fresh and tasty according to my husband's opinion.
Finds the meat sometimes hard to eat. Overall very well-maintained nursing home.

Room nice and tidy and clean. Staff always obliging, especially on reception. Meals cooked well. Treatment acceptable. Carers do their job well. Overall clean in all areas. Couldn't fault the home. Well done to all concerned.

My aunt suffers from dementia and is also extremely deaf - both things that make caring for her extremely difficult. She took a long time to settle and feel comfortable but the staff showed great care throughout the time. They are caring and patient with her even when looking after her has been challenging.
She is now more settled and in the past month when I have been unable to visit because of ill health I was pleased at the way they have handled some of the things I would normally have done on my weekly visits.

I never knew it was possible to have a team of individuals care for my mum as if they were her family. They have showed not only mum but my dad and the rest of our family, such compassion and empathy through what has been a difficult transition to navigate and come to terms with. The whole team at Edgbaston
Manor have gone above and beyond to settle my mum into her new routine and surrounds which they have done with great dignity and understanding towards the whole family's emotions. Living the other side of the world (in Australia) and only being able to visit infrequently I feel at ease knowing mum is being cared for by an amazing team of people. When I was back in the UK for mum's first few weeks in the care home after her prolonged stay in hospital, within the first week they had transformed mum back to her former self prior to her hospital stay. She was brighter, happier, eating more, and had gained more mobility. I can't thank the team enough for what they have achieved.

Mum was adamant she would never go into a care home. After a number of failed alternatives, falls and the onset of dementia, in August 2021 we no longer had a choice.
Her transition was made so easy by the whole team, who consistently show compassion, care, honesty, respect, and a sense of humour.
They spend time really listening, which results in a strong connection between Mum, the staff, and our family. Mum feels safe, cared for, and the staff act and feel like an extended family.
Gracewell is outstanding in its appearance & cleanliness. Mum often thinks she's holidaying in a posh hotel. However, it’s not the impressive building and rooms, but the wonderful team who work in Gracewell that put the care into “Care Home”. Mum knows day and night that she is surrounded by people who “couldn’t do more for me”.
Many of the team go way above and beyond. Nothing is too much trouble, if they can facilitate something that helps, they make it happen.

Outstanding service and care. It is like a 5-star hotel. My mum is so happy there, she is well looked after. Whilst hard to please with food, staff always try and find alternatives for her to make sure she eats something. Girls on reception are so helpful if we have a problem, they liaise with the carers/nurses
on our behalf to save time. Nurses always keep us informed of any problems, no matter how insignificant.

It was extremely difficult to hand over the care of my much loved mother following her life changing stroke, however it has been a relief during the pandemic to know that she was being cared for by staff who truly understood her. It is not just a care home but a space for residents to feel comfortable
and one I love visiting. As a nurse I know what compassionate care feels, smells and looks like and I know that my mother is happy because she tells me! The chemistry she has with some of the staff is a joy to witness, in particular her key worker who my mum calls 'mummy.' This is sad in some ways as it is a feature of my mothers cognitive decline, however it is also wonderful because it is a testimony to the care, attention and special bond between her key worker and my mother. When her key worker is caring for my mother it is clear that my mother has regressed and thinks that her key worker is her mum! The stimulation received has reaped benefits so thank you all staff.

We have been so impressed with the fantastic and caring staff. The manager has been so wonderful and helped my sister and I through what was a very difficult time. The manager spoke to the hospital ward and organized Mum's transfer to Gracewell, and she was absolutely fantastic, so attentive and we
could not have managed the process without her. Mum is very settled and receiving such wonderful care and is so much better. I would highly recommend Gracewell at Edgbaston to anyone wanting a very caring home for their loved one.

After mum had a major brain stem stroke at 90 she lost nearly all of her mobility and independence. She has macular which has now progressed to near blindness. Gracewell have always done their best to provide the care and support needed when mums condition changed and deteriorated. Mum has got to a
stage where she looks to the staff as friends and is something that as a Family we have found likewise. We have found the staff goes the extra mile which we will always be grateful for, their care is priceless and something that we feel strongly should be rewarded for from all levels. The manager has always been honest with us and we feel we can trust her when situations arise and we need straight answers, of course, the relationship works both ways! Her management team and all her Staff have proved themselves, especially through these difficult Covid times and which has now resulted in mum having her first vaccine last month - a fear in itself!

Although I cannot visit Gracewell because of Covid-19, I feel very confident about the care my husband is receiving. I get regular updates by email and phone and have two FaceTime sessions each week. His medical needs are dealt with promptly and his personal and social needs are obviously seen as important.
I am aware that staff are attentive and caring towards him.

My mother moved into Gracewell six months ago and my whole family has been very pleased and impressed by the care and kindness shown by all the carers and staff. With the restrictions on visiting because of Covid, the companionship and friendship of all the staff has been really important to her. This
was further emphasised by the celebrations for her 100th birthday on Aug 9. Gracewell made the day very special for her with presents, a magnificent cake, decorations, tea party for residents and a tiara. Covid compliant arrangements were also made for many family members to wish her a happy birthday in person. A video call was also made to a son in the USA. Thank you again to all the carers and staff from all her family.

The openness and honesty of the staff at this care home has been just what my family needed - to know that my Dad will be cared for and to give him the best quality to his life. They’ve done exactly what they told us and took extra care with my dad to make him feel welcomed and as though he is home,
in the space of a couple of weeks of moving in. My dad is settled, more relaxed and eating the best meals ever. The staff are all so polite and honest whenever we ring and let us know exactly how my dad is doing.

My Aunt had lived alone for many years and would have liked to carry on. Unfortunately, she fell over in September and the OT concluded that she would be unsafe.
We carried out a review of care homes with the brief from my Aunt. She wanted to be at a care home with others who may be physically frail,
but mentally fit; the home should be close to her friends.
Gracewell was the clear choice; their model of having separate self -contained floors, for different care levels met my Aunt’s wishes. My Aunt soon felt that she would stay. She enjoys the interaction with the others on her floor, and she has appreciated being cared for.
Recently as her frailty has increased and my Aunt has moved to a different floor.
In the face of COVID, Gracewell has done magnificently. They have enabled meaningful visits.
My Aunt continues to express her appreciation of Gracewell of Edgbaston, “I feel comfortable, and I feel safe”. As a former Head Mistress of a large school, that says it all.
