The home has beautiful views of St Mary’s lighthouse and the ever-changing North Sea coastline perfect for an afternoon spent by the sea. This lovely home offers residents a choice of sitting rooms, dining areas and quiet spots, as well as a salon and cosy tea rooms.

Community is an integral part of life at Eastbourne House, and the team works hard to support residents to build positive relationships in the Whitley Bay neighbourhood, regularly organising events with local schools, charities and businesses in the area.

Eastbourne House offers a range of lovely dining areas where residents can relax and enjoy dining with family and friends or other residents. The creative catering team prides itself on making mealtimes something for residents to look forward to.

My wife has been resident here for 2 years, and during that time my daily close observations have given one confidence that she is receiving the best of care. Carers, who over time, have informed close relationships with each of the dementia suffers. Such closeness takes time to develop; seeing the
same faces on a daily basis brings about a sense of security and safeness to even the worst affected, and, of course, the family too benefit from knowing that their loved one is in safe hands by seeing the familiar faces of carers, who, to the residents is just another member of the family.

Eastbourne House provides excellent care within comfortable and modern surroundings. The home is welcoming and the management and staff strive to involve relatives and friends in resident's care. Staff are observant and attentive. I have often witnessed their attempts to create a happy atmosphere, whether
or not individual residents choose to take part in the many activities on offer.

Very good, staff lovely. Everything was good. Only one problem, a lady close to my mum's room was in a lot of distress and screamed quite chillingly, very upsetting to listen to. The poor soul should not have been there.

We aim to make everyone’s stay with us as pleasant and comfortable but unfortunately, we have some residents who at times can become poorly and be disorientated due to infections, we act quickly and promptly to assist any residents who become unwell, as this can be upsetting for everyone involved.

My mother has been at Eastbourne House for the past two years. Her care has been amazing. She enjoyed all the music events - dancing away to songs.
Unfortunately, she has had to leave and go into nursing care, otherwise, I would have been more than happy to keep her at Eastbourne House if she has
been well enough.

My neighbour has only recently become a resident at Eastbourne House and so far I have visited her twice so my views are limited to these occasions. However, my overall impression of her care is excellent as are the facilities available to her. The home itself is well situated, immaculate and staff
available and friendly at all times and alert to the needs of their occupants. It is a pleasure to visit.

I chose Eastbourne House after visiting. My wife needed respite from a number of stressful incidents over a couple of years. It seemed sensible to give her a break and for me to be cared for during her absence. I am disabled and she has been a consistent support for me.
Eastbourne House is a delightful
property, clean, tidy and well looked after. The staff are friendly, helpful and good fun.
The meals are good (with one exception) and the entertainment is well thought through.

Staff have spoilt Mother’s Day for our family today. Arranged to take my mother out, my sister had notified staff of this arrangement on Saturday. Arrived at 11:30 with my wife, signed in as normal and collected mother, said goodbye to the staff member on the top floor, on leaving signed my mother out
in the book at front door 11:40. Later staff contacting family members to ask where my mother was, were about to call the police. Informed my sisters that no one had signed my mother out and they assumed she was missing.
Arrived back at 15:30 went to find a staff member in charge. Completely understand that mistakes can be made, but was not expecting when I spoke to her on the top floor to be accused of not signing my mother out and when I said I had, to be told then I should have informed staff, which I also did. Perhaps what would have been more appropriate would have been to have had an apology when we arrived back. Only on leaving did they admit that they had only checked the signing in/out book at the back door.

Thank you for taking the time to make a review in respect of Eastbourne House. I am sorry that you had a poor experience with regards to taking your mother out. I have investigated your concerns and found that although you did make staff at the reception aware that you were taking your Mother out, the staff working on the floor weren’t aware and so when they could not locate her they followed the correct process. Please accept my apologies for any distress this may have caused. In the future when taking your mother out, if you would be so kind as to make the staff working on the unit aware when you leave, and in addition to this, where the front of house staff are made aware that a resident is going out, they will contact the unit to double check that they are aware.

Staff are amazing. They all care for Mam as if she was their own mother. It's the little things they do that make a difference and they are well managed and actively encouraged to engage with the residents and their family. The social activities planned ensure residents are cared for mentally and socially
too. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff, from the domestic staff to the manager. When I am away from Mam I can relax in the knowledge she is safe, well cared for and even loved.

Although I have long-standing medical conditions, I do not need regular care but times when I do need a little bit of TLC, it has been available.
I do mix with residents and activities very regularly so I am able to observe the care and attention my fellow residents receive and I do worry that the
staff are overworked due to the severity of the medical or psychiatric states of the residents.

“For me, kind care means showing empathy, dignity and diplomacy in everything we do.”
Debbie has gained over 25 years’ experience in providing care and support to older people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.
Debbie closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Eastbourne House.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Debbie remarked: “The most rewarding part of my job is definitely having the opportunity to make a difference to our Residents’ lives.”
Away from work, Debbie enjoys spending time with her family, especially on their caravan holidays.
