Environment excellent. Dad loved the garden and the trees. The food was lovely and the staff. Only lacked some male company to chat to of his own age but that's standard.

Sutton Grange is in my opinion an excellent care home, the staff are dedicated and very caring, the rooms and the general layout provide a very comfortable, secure and clean environment for both residents and visiting family members.
The best endorsement I can provide is from my Father who is a current
resident, after a difficult settling period he has now with the help of the staff, settled in beyond our expectations. He maintains that he 'loves it here' and constantly praises the quality of the food, the staff and his room.

My Grandmother was moved into Sutton Grange late last year. Upon my first visit I was overjoyed with the facilities and staff. I wanted to take the time to review the home as all members of the team are always happy and made visits enjoyable and their hard work deserves recognition. From reception/office
- kitchen staff and all the wonderful carers in between every one at SG ensures residents are cared for to the highest standards, while maintaining an upbeat and pleasant living environment, something that due to their workload most carers are unable to maintain. I am particularly impressed with the monthly coffee mornings that are held for residents and their family to attend, the sing songs in particular I know my nana enjoys thoroughly! (and the home made cakes are delicious!) the facilities and general feel of the place differs dramatically from other care homes. There is no sense of it being a 'care home' or somewhere for 'old people' - its in fact more like a 5* hotel, with stunning decor and a homely feel. With interactive objects all around her attention is always taken by bright and familiar objects as opposed to being sat in front of a tv all day - something I have seen happen in the past. Recently I have moved overseas. In an attempt to help me remain in contact with her the staff at SG have kindly been taking time to live Skype me on days such as Christmas so that I had the chance to well wish my nan. I am so overwhelmed at the kindness of this act that I just had to take to carehome.co.uk and ensure that Sutton Grange received (Another) 'EXCELLENT' review.I have no problem recommending this beautiful home and its dedicated and wonderful staff. I am extremely happy with the level of care my nana is receiving and am simply thrilled she has been fortunate enough to become a resident at Sutton Grange.

Thank you to all of the staff for their continual hard work and first class caring of someone who is very important to me.

I take a great deal of comfort from knowing that my Mother is cared for by professional but kind staff, I am aware that they make every effort to offer person centred care, whilst still maintaining her dignity and individuality. My Mother has been cared for in a few homes and this is by far the best
place, firstly for standard of care and secondly for the warm and homely environment.
I feel a sense of comfort when I visit Sutton Grange, just like when I visited my Mother, before she became my "different" Mother, due to the Alzheimer's.

Thank you to all those wonderful people at Sutton Grange , who have given my Mother a better quality of life and for putting my heart at ease ??

I can't praise the staff at Sutton Grange enough. They are all kind, caring and make time for individual residents and their families with a genuine desire to help. Caring for the elderly is an extremely demanding job and all of the staff, without exception, take a very professional approach to their
jobs, regardless of the role. I am sure there will be days when they find things difficult to cope with but they always have a smile and a word of greeting for residents and visitors alike. The home is clean, comfortable and welcoming. My father is cared for in a manner befitting his needs and as a result his health has improved. I would like to thank everyone for what they do for him.

I entered the home on a short term respite period following a long period of caring for my wife until a suitable home was found for her. Sutton Grange would have been ideal for myself but due to my medical condition and medication prevented full experience of respite. Sleeping difficulties. Home made
all possible help but were limited by nature of my problems.

Sutton Grange is a fantastic home. It was my father's (and our) second home for a period of respite care. The staff are second to none, going over and above the call of duty. I could not thank them enough for the care and support they gave us, and would recommend them to everyone!

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.179)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.179) out of 10 for Barchester Sutton Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.636 for Barchester Sutton Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.636

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.543 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Sutton Grange Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 14 = 0.643

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
