When our sister needed nursing care, two Homes offered places: one near to us and Haddon Hall, 15 miles away. The moment we walked through the door at Haddon Hall you could feel the energy in the place, and as my husband said, it has a feel of a well-oiled machine: everything organised and working perfectly,
thanks to the leadership. Walking by the dining room with its tablecloths, napkins and tasty menus is like being in a smart hotel, with more choices. All the family feel that the care shown to her has been amazing. Staff have always tried ways to keep her interested, keep her happy, keep her comfortable. She went down to the residential unit when interesting activities were on, or we could wheel her out into the lovely garden. In her final days, staff cared not only for her but the family too, she was able to slip away with dignity. We are so thankful we chose Haddon Hall and as an ex-professional in the care sector, I would have no hesitation in recommending it.

I came to Haddon Hall Care Home for two weeks respite care following a hip replacement. We viewed the home after getting good reports from local friends and on viewing ourselves we were impressed by the cleanliness, the brightness of the building and chiefly by the friendliness of the staff.
My time
here has been greatly enhanced by the carers and staff who have been a delight to deal with. They care about the experience of residents and go the extra mile to be helpful. Thank you to them all.

I have visited my friend 3 times in the last fortnight and as far as I'm aware in that short time of visiting the standard of care has been excellent. I think there needs to be a clearer picture for guests in these Covid times as to where guests are allowed to be with the residents. On my first visit
I was able to take her into the community areas and sit with her, but on the second visit this was prohibited. I am unable to comment on the management and the value for money as I don't have this knowledge.

My Mother has spent 2 weeks respite in the Haddon Hall Care Home in Buxton and enjoyed every minute of her stay.
Above all, she gives a glowing report of the care she received. The staff were wonderful. Nothing was too much bother for them and they supported her situation of almost total blindness
with friendly professionalism.
Many thanks to all her carer's and for a really enjoyable stay.

I arrived here directly from the hospital after undergoing a Radical Cystoscopy. I arrived here on day 10 after my operation. I needed space, quiet and gentle care and I received this in spades. I cannot fault the treatment, the love and the care I received here in Haddon Hall and I have been allowed
to 'sleep myself well' cradled by absolutely every person I have come across. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff.

My mum spent the last 3 and half years of her life at Haddon Hall. She was very well cared for, with staff looking after her with dignity and respect - and a good dose of humour. I'm very pleased we chose this care home - my experience was of a team who do a great job, particularly in the very difficult

We brought Mum to Haddon Hall in late July 2020. It was strange times due to Covid. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The ground floor staff were well managed and delivered excellent care to Mum. Due to Covid, there were no excursions. My mum has been a good cook in her day, and sadly found the
food not very appetising - I would rate what I saw as poor.

On entrance to Haddon which was for respite, he was quite poorly. Cared for well and recovered with lots of encouragement. Got to know the staff well and relationships blossomed both him with them and them with him - delightful to see.
End of life care was excellent of both the client and nearest
relative.

Due to covid my husband went into care a year ago and has little contact with outside. But from the start, he's been very well cared for by all the staff. As have I. Activities have been curtailed but staff have worked above and beyond to keep residents engaged. Cannot praise them enough.

Mum went into Haddon Hall in April 2020 straight from hospital and has had the most amazing care from all staff. Mum was very popular and had a lovely bond with the care staff who tendered her every need. Very professional and very, very caring. Thank you for all you did for Mum, I am truly grateful

My grandma was a resident for 2.5 years, she had failing health and was 93 years old. We had very limited contact with her over the past year due to the pandemic. The guidance states that visits should be allowed at end of life, meaning the last year of life, not just the last moments.
The manager
there would not allow visits, we had to argue and were only admitted access six days before her death - this was with much begging! He even compared us trying to see my grandma to him not seeing his mother for a year, she wasn’t dying, unlike my grandma! After her death, no phone call, no condolences and her belongings left in a trolley in the corridor. Just avoid, the management has no care or respect for their residents. It took three weeks to get an inadequate response to a complaint from management, we also know of other residents families who have had the same experience and have also raised complaints.

The team at Haddon Hall made my dad's transition from hospital to Haddon Hall seamless and stress-free. My father's short stay relieved the pressure on our family knowing that he was being cared for in a kind and compassionate way. The end of his life was dealt with compassionately and professionally

I have found Haddon Hall Care Home to be perfect for my father. The care is discreet, kind, humane and humorous. The place is spotless and I always get a very warm welcome when I visit or call Dad on Facetime. The staff are sensitive to the individual and go out of their way to make Dad feel valued

I have been a Registered Adult Nurse since 2006 and currently teach nursing therapeutics and medication management as well as contemporary approaches to diabetes for The University of Derby online. Before joining the team at Haddon Hall Care Home, I worked for the NHS for a number of years.

Hello, my name is Richard Vaughan, and I am the Client Services Manager here at Haddon Hall.


Having worked in customer service for most of my life, I take pride in putting people first and ensuring service is king. When I joined Haddon Hall I was delighted to see how nice, warm and friendly the team here are and how special they make our residents feel.


My role as client services manager involves supporting people through the process of choosing a care home and offering advice, guidance, reassurance and compassion for individuals and their loved ones. I feel very honoured and humbled to have the opportunity to be able to help at each stage of the process, from showing people around our home to assisting them on moving-in day and everything in between.

Hello, my name is Sharon Gillespie, and I am the Home Trainer here at Haddon Hall.


I have an NVQ level 5 Management in Health and Social Care and a Petal level 3 in Teacher Training Award, and I have worked for Porthaven for nearly 12 years.


Haddon Hall is an amazing home to work in; the staff and our residents are fantastic, and we think of ourselves as one big happy family. I thoroughly enjoy my role and find training new care staff incredibly rewarding. We pride ourselves on delivering person-centred care and making a positive difference in the lives of our residents.


I have two grown-up children who I raised in Cheshire, and I now have five wonderful grandchildren.

Job Title: Activities and Wellbeing Coordinator

Hello, my name is Keith, and I am one of the Activities and Wellbeing Coordinators here at Haddon Hall.


As an activities and wellbeing coordinator, I coordinate and support the planning, creation and delivery of our home's activities and wellbeing programme, which aims to encourage our residents to participate in various engaging activities and hobbies. I spend time getting to know our residents so that I can produce a programme of activities that cater to their specific interests and assist in the whole-home approach of delivering person-centred care.


I have worked for Porthaven for nine years, and I still thoroughly enjoy my job!
