My nan recently passed away at Thirlestaine Park. I went to visit her a number of times and every time I visited, it was evident how well-looked after she was. The staff are brilliant and couldn't have been more supportive of her circumstances. She enjoyed the food and the activities.

Thirlestaine Park care home has been great in offering respite care for my friend. It took him a few weeks to get into the daily routine but seems to be more with it now. It is a very welcoming place with activities on offer as well as calmness. As a friend of the resident, I like the fact that I can
pop in as and when without having to book in with reception. It makes it feel more homely. It would have been better if there was Wifi, but was told by the reception that there is not any for residents. Not sure why in this day and age.

My parents moved to the home in late September, having lived independently into their 90s. They love the care they receive from the staff on the floor, who are all extremely kind, helpful and warm. The food is excellent, and plenty of it. They feel very looked after. Whenever any friends or family visit,
we are welcome. My mum and dad particularly appreciate the trips out (to the garden centre and the Abbey so far) and the music-based activities. Plus, the exercise classes! The home itself is spacious and well maintained, with a big lounge and lovely garden.

I spent two weeks in Thirlestaine Park Care Home as a nursing respite between a major heart bypass operation and moving into my new home in Winchcombe. I needed professional care and the facility for my immediate family to lead normal lives knowing that I was safe. Thirlestaine more than met my expectations.
The location is helpful and the buildings are well-designed in an attractive setting. The rooms and bathrooms are comfortable and discreet and the facilities are of four-star hotel standard. The catering was always more than adequate and often imaginative.
The level of care was outstanding. Call bells were answered efficiently. Both the nursing staff and the care staff were enthusiastic and well-tutored in their roles. They had a pleasant sense of humour and a realistic approach to my personal post-operative challenges. There was a warm and helpful backup from management and the activities team. Whilst I hope not to need care again, Thirlestaine will remain top of my list.

Highly recommend Thirlestaine Park Care Home, needing respite care for my elderly friend who had a fall at very short notice. Everyone at Thirlestaine couldn't have been more accommodating, even though the stay was short, the care received was excellent. Everyone was extremely welcoming, nurses were
excellent and the Client Services Manager was extremely efficient and was always on hand to help and answer my questions.

I took my mother to look around Thirlestaine Park in Cheltenham as we wanted her to have a month's respite after a knee replacement, from the moment we stepped in we were made very welcome. We were shown around and all our questions were answered. My mother was very happy during her month and was looked
after very well with kindness and respect. The food was excellent, a choice of dishes and nothing was too much trouble if she wanted something different. Fans were brought to her room during the recent hot weather to make her more comfortable. The standard of cleanliness was very high and her room was cleaned every day. Whenever I phoned to enquire how she was I was always able to speak to a member of staff looking after her, if I had one small moan it would be that the reception desk didn’t appear to be manned out of office hours. As a family, we would not hesitate to recommend Thirlestaine Park Care Home.

My 95-year-old mum required nursing care following two falls in her home and time in hospital. It's the first time she has ever received care, having previously lived independently. The client services manager's response was excellent from the moment we engaged with Thirlestaine Park Care Home. We had
two show arounds, including the gardens, activity room, and the residential floor. We had a good understanding of the whole care home. We could not have asked for a better start to Mum's new life at Thirlestaine Park. She is treated with dignity, her sheets are clean and all staff know her. Mum's food is served in finger food sized portions like a buffet. This is working very well and we are delighted that she has gained weight in her first 10 days. The response from Mum on seeing her favourite sideboard, ornaments and paintings in her room on arrival was overwhelming; she spoke more then than she had in several months. We are very impressed with the nursing team's treatment of mum's leg sores.

From my first contact with this care home, the staff were helpful and compassionate. It was easy to arrange a visit which I booked online. The home has the benefit of being purpose-built with all the necessary facilities but retains a homely feel. My aunt has settled in well and appears comfortable
and relaxed and is enjoying the excellent food. The nurses are kind and caring and are treating my aunt with great dignity. They cater to her individual preferences and encourage her to retain as much of her independence as possible. I feel confident I have chosen the best home for my aunt.

I needed a care home urgently for a friend in hospital. She suffers from dementia and needs to be cared for 24 hours a day. Thirlestaine Park care home was able to offer my friend a place at short notice. The facilities are excellent. The staff are very thoughtful and caring.
My friend has settled
well in her new environment. The staff update me regularly about her health.

My mother has advanced dementia and has been a resident for over three years. I always enjoy entering Thirlestaine, the staff are always so welcoming and cheerful. This hasn’t faltered throughout the pandemic, despite very tough times. It’s just as important that the visitor has a good experience as
well as the resident. I can’t fault the care given to my mother, the staff are approachable, kind and compassionate.

Thirlestaine Park has many good things going for it but also some significant issues. On the plus side, it is a pleasant building and garden. Most things work adequately and the staff are pleasant to talk to. They seem to have handled Covid well and have been responsive in allowing some freedom for
residents. My mother feels safe. On the minus side, there is clearly an issue with staffing levels. Many of the staff seem rushed and some tasks are not carried out or are forgotten. For example, my mother has mentioned that her sheets have not been changed for several weeks and some requests have not been carried out despite a number of reminders. Additionally, she is perfectly compos mentis and has said that some staff talk to her as if she were a child, perhaps assuming that she has some form of dementia and staff also enter her room without knocking. She had expected a better standard of service and respect. In contrast, some staff are exceptional and she has build some excellent relationships.

We also take on board feedback from residents and staff. With regards to our residents' bedding, this is based on how often the residents would like their bedding changed. Your mother usually informs the care team when she would like her sheets changed, unfortunately, it appears that this was missed on this occasion. We have taken action to ensure this is not missed going forward. I have requested that staff receive a reminder training session regarding not forgetting to knock before they enter our residents' rooms. I apologise that it appears we have not met our usual exceptional standards on this occasion. We are enormously impressed with the professional and caring approach of Thirlestaine Park staff and management. My 93-year-old mum came in for respite 4 weeks ago and has now converted to permanent residence. She continues to have significant health issues which have thrown up challenges in adjusting
to her new environment. The Thirlestaine Park team have been incredibly diligent in both following up and managing my mum's health issues, monitoring her health and well-being very closely and being sympathetic and sensitive to her psychological needs. They have also communicated and consulted regularly with us as a family so we feel fully included as part of the care decision-making. We are very grateful and reassured and we feel she is in just the right place. Thank you Thirlestaine Park team!

My friend of sixty years has recently taken up residence in Thirlestaine Park Care Home. I have visited him on several occasions in the last two months and found the staff courteous and helpful. We had a particularly good experience on his birthday when friends and family joined him for an excellent
birthday lunch in a private dining room. In response to family requests, he has recently moved to a different room and seems to be content and well cared for. Thank you for looking after my friend.

Choosing a care home for a loved one is a really difficult thing to do, but I found the honesty and sincerity of the Client Services Manager at Thirlestaine Park Care Home helped me enormously. After a recent severe stroke, Dad has only moved into Thirlestaine Park Care Home in the last few weeks, but
I have been amazed and reassured by the wonderful welcome and care he has received from all the staff. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and the staff take time with him, treating him with respect and dignity.
Dad says that the food is outstanding and was thrilled when the chef came and asked him to suggest some dishes to include on the menu. He has already gained some much-needed weight! He enjoys joining in with the numerous activities on offer and, despite his deafness, feels included in whatever is taking place.
To all the team at Thirlestaine Park Care Home, an enormous thank you from Dad and I.

What a wonderful place. More like a 5* hotel than a care home. My father-in-law chose this home as it was close to where he lived, so his friends could come and visit easily. He is 95, and with an intact mind, but failing body, he could not have made a better choice.
We were welcomed at the end of
lockdown, and the staff could not have made it easier for us. Any questions have been answered quickly and professionally, and nothing is too much bother. My father-in-law even has his favourite wines to chose from with his evening meal.
Thank you to all the staff for making this transition as easy as it could be.
