I am very happy with the care and service provided for my mother who is a resident at Greenacres Care Home. I have found the staff, carers and nurses, along with the administration team, to always be helpful and considerate towards both the residents and the visitors. I am happy to recommend this care

My partner moved into Greenacres Care Centre in July 2021. I am, and have always been, my partner’s main carer which is extremely important to both of us. My partner was admitted during Covid, the senior care team applied for me to become an essential worker so I could carry on with my visits, I am
very grateful for the team organising this for me. My partner has a bright, large room, big enough for a couch which has meant that myself and my partner can watch TV together as though we were at home. All the care team have really helped and supported me through the transition into a care home for my partner, they have made us both feel like we are family. The care provided is excellent and the ongoing support has been invaluable, giving me peace of mind. The grounds for the home are beautiful and vast, my partner and I regularly go for walks around the gardens. I am very thankful that I chose this lovely home, the building is wonderful and the care is excellent.

My aunt got to the stage where her Alzheimer's made it impossible for her to continue to live with me and my family. Sadly we had to find her a home to live in. Greenacres Care Centre is just around the corner from us and we decided that it would be the best place for her. It is a purpose-built facility
with individual en-suite rooms. My aunt's room is on the first floor and overlooks the gardens at the back. The gardens are huge, more like a park and I regularly walk in them with my aunt when I visit. My aunt loves the garden. The staff are really friendly and engaging with both residents and visitors. They are kind and supportive and always keep me updated about how my aunt is. The care home itself is spotless and the food is excellent. While it is difficult to see a relative move into a care home, it is so reassuring to know that they are in a safe and caring environment like that provided by Greenacres.

Getting to the point whereby we had no choice but to put Dad into residential care was an extremely difficult decision. However, the entire team at Greenacres made the transition for Dad and for us as a family so very easy. The purpose-built residence is bright, spacious and welcoming and over the relatively
short period since Dad has been resident, the team have become more like friends. Their professionalism, support, kindness, patience and dedication to ensure that all residents receive the best possible care is clearly evident. The activities provided throughout the week ensure Dad and others are engaged and stimulated and cement friendships. I have stayed to have lunch on numerous occasions as the food in terms of quality and variety is excellent. Above all, Greenacres is a happy, supportive and safe environment and we are so delighted that we chose this gem of a care home for Dad.

A lovely caring home with great staff and management. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them. Very friendly place and the residents are well looked after and the food is fabulous, as are the grounds. Our family couldn't be happier to have found this home.

My mother needed to go into care due to dementia after my father died. After trying to find a suitable home, I managed to just walk into Greenacres Care Centre and asked for their help. The manageress immediately came to my rescue and showed me around the home personally, giving me clear information
about what care she and her staff can provide for my mother.
Within 24 hours they had found my mother an individual room with en-suite facilities. It was hard to leave my mother with the staff, but the manageress and her staff had already expected this and had prepared me and my mother for an easy transition. I can say that the staff are very professional as well as caring and patient. I have no complaints and am very happy that my mother is in a safe environment, able to keep her occupied, clean and happy.

We very quickly began to appreciate the professionalism and caring attitude demonstrated by all the various staff.
On her return to Greenacres Care Centre after being in hospital while initially her health improved sadly this was short lived and she declined into palliative care once again the care
she received was excellent.
The staff who looked after her demonstrated a genuine caring and compassionate attitude to both her and ourselves we also felt that she benefited in regard to her medical care provided by the local surgery with the Greenacres’ staff coordinating her requirements we know this would not have been possible in her previous accommodation.
During her period of palliative care it was reassuring to see how well she was cared for.
The care mum received was everything we could have hoped for it really was as if they were looking after a member of their own family.
Greenacres was recommended to ourselves and we have no hesitation in recommending it to others

I'd like to say how happy my mum has been since she moved into Greenacres Care Centre in December 2021. After a few initial issues relating to Covid lockdowns and the staff keeping the residents safe, Mum has settled in to her new environment. She has all the attention and care she wants. She's also
full of praise for the carers and staff. Most importantly, Mum is safe, comfortable, and has a room with a wonderful view over the extensive gardens and Dartmoor on a clear day. This is all good for her wellbeing and if Mum's happy, then I'm happy. Well done Greenacres Care Centre.

The team and facilities at Greenacres are exceptional. My father was a resident with them for around 3 years and the team ensured they went the extra mile to make him not only safe and comfortable but also to offer friendship and a lot of laughter. With the 2020/1 Pandemic, the team and home were run
like clockwork and despite the frustration of not being able to spend time with my father, the team made provision with PPE and even Facetime using their personal mobile telephones. The team's interaction and understanding they had for my father was also due to the consistency of staffing - this is as much a reflection of Mannamead Care as a whole, and I've been impressed since Dad moved in. I would not hesitate to recommend the team at Greenacres or Mannamead Care's other homes and my thanks goes to each of you who made his final years dignified and comfortable.

On arrival, very good security and helpful staff. The room was clean and spacious with a good alarm system. The girls caring for my Dad were very supportive and caring and put our family at ease knowing Dad was going to be well looked after. My Dad enjoyed his stay there, which was brilliant. After
our visits we left feeling Dad was feeling safe and happy and we had peace of mind we could ask for nothing more. Well done!

Dad's health and mobility deteriorated considerably after Mum's passing Sept 2018. He agreed to go to Greenacres for a week's respite to help him in early February. Upon arrival, the Manager and Staff were all so helpful. Whilst there he was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer - thereby progressing to
Bowel Cancer. (It seems Dad had been ill some time but as Mum's constant carer he didn't let on). Sadly due to Dad's age of 88 and his fragile bones they couldn't do anything to help him. He insisted he wanted to stay at Greenacres rather than return to his own home. He felt comfortable and happy there and he knew he was dying. Sadly his health declined rather faster than the original time diagnosis and he passed away Saturday morning, 27th April 2019. I cannot speak highly enough of the care, thoughtfulness and support by the General Manager, Registered Manager and all the Staff during all the time he was with them. No hesitation in recommending this Home to anyone.

The home is good and comfortable, well managed and I feel that Mum is safe.

Mum is treated as an individual even though she has Alzheimer's.
She is talked to and interacted with regularly.
She is very well looked after and is always clean and very well fed.

My mother has been a resident at Greenacres for 2 years - the care she receives is first class and I would certainly recommend it.
Nobody chooses to be in a home, it is usually through necessity - but my mother has become the happy, healthy person she is today because of the care, day-in-day-out.
The
food is great and always plenty of it and nothing is too much trouble for the kind and engaging staff.

A lovely home and beautiful garden with a friendly and caring staff team. Specialising in dementia care, the residents are encouraged to take part in a varied and full activities and entertainment programme Monday - Friday including trips and visits by local pre-school children. The variety and quality
of food are good and the rooms and communal areas are kept clean and homely. Families and friends are welcomed any time and the residents love spending time in the gorgeous garden.

This was our first visit to this home and our first impressions were very good. Often, there is an unpleasant odour when visiting care homes and we were pleased that this was not a problem. Security looked to be very good and we were impressed that one of your ground staff was able to tell us which
building our friend was located. We were kindly shown to our friend's room and although we had known her for over 60 years she was courteous but really did not recognise us. However, we had a pleasant chat with her for about 30 minutes but we realised she was in a world of her own where she was happy.
We were pleasantly surprised by the size of her room and it was kept clean and tidy.
We spoke with both the manager and general manager on the way out and congratulated them on what we had found.
We feel content that our friend is in a place where she is being very well looked after.

Out of all the care homes I've been to (I have been to a lot) this is up there with the best!


The care home itself is lovely, everyone always has a smile on their face, and the staff are amazing.


The manager is very lucky to have such an amazing team!

Our Mother was cared for at Greenacres Dementia Care Home for about 11 months until she passed away this May. The care she received was fantastic. Mum was very happy there. The activities to stimulate the residents are outstanding. They have a wonderful activities co-ordinator who all the residents
love. She arranges outings to the coast, singers to come in for sing-alongs, quizzes with questions tailored to the old days, games and much more. Birthdays, Christmas, Easter and Mothers Day are made special too.


The rooms are very nice with en-suite toilet and washbasins. There are plenty of showers and baths and residents are kept clean so no worries there.


The grounds are amazing and residents are regularly taken outside when the weather permits.


Mum's wishes were respected when Mum became ill - she didn't want to be taken to hospital for any more treatment and was allowed to stay at Greenacres with all her daughters by her side and receive palliative care until the end.

It is not often you come across such a good, well run organisation and as a care home, Greenacres must be in a league of its own. As soon as you step into the foyer there is a warm and friendly atmosphere. From the senior manager right through to the most junior carer, there is a sense of professionalism
and generosity of spirit. Nothing is too much trouble. The carers really seem to have been chosen because they love their work, and the atmosphere there is always positive.
There is always something going on in the lounge. There are so many fun activities thanks to an inspired activities manager. Everyone mucks in staff and residents alike. The meals are tasty and nourishing, served in a light, pleasant dining room overlooking beautiful gardens. There is home made cakes and plenty of choices.
A truly exceptional organisation providing an exemplary level of care.

Angela

Angela Sayer

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2022

Angela is the Registered Manager for Greenacres Care Centre. Following on from a career in hospitality, Angela commenced her care career in 2008 as an Administrator for a new 34 bed nursing home. During this time, Angela quickly realised that her vocation was within the care industry enjoying all aspects of being part of a close team who thrived on a passion to enhance the lives of all the residents whom they had the pleasure to care for.


Angela became the Manager and remained in post for five years until relocating to Cornwall/Devon. Angela then became the Registered Manager for a successful Domiciliary Care Provider for seven happy years, learning and understanding the differences between home care and care homes. Angela then chose to return back to her preferred vocation of being within a care home environment, joining our group in July 2022.


During her time working in the care industry, Angela has completed 2 NVQs in Business and Business Management, 3 Diplomas in Health and Social Care and Management and an Advanced Apprenticeship in the Social Care Framework, and in 2015 qualified as a trainer with her Level 3 Award in Education and Training.


Angela has a strong work ethos that begins with person-centred care and treating everyone equally and uniquely, coupled with that, leading with a profound respect for the team providing all the important cogs that provide a happy, safe and comfortable environment.


Angela has recently gained a Directorship of Training within the group, supporting our team with in-house training, enabling a wider span of focus-trained courses, and supporting carers to feel empowered to further their careers within the industry. With the support and knowledge from Nikki Riseborough Care Coordinator, and the kindness from all the Greenacres team, Angela has settled into her role and looks forward with open arms to ensuring Greenacres is ‘home’.
