I cannot speak highly enough of the care that was given to my mum who recently passed away. From the moment she was seen at home, 9 months ago, by a senior member of staff, who immediately helped to facilitate her move to Ocean Breeze, my mum was treated with nothing but respect, dignity and loving
care. The facilities at Ocean Breeze are second to none, it is spotlessly clean and the food is lovely. There is always things going on for the residents and nothing is ever too much trouble. Every member of staff is friendly, caring and always has a smile. Words cannot express how grateful we have been as a family for the support we have received over the last few weeks and I have no hesitation in recommending Ocean Breeze to anyone. It is a true home in every sense of the word.

Since my father was admitted a year ago to Ocean Breeze Care Home, my family and I are aware of the great care and support they have given him. Every aspect from the cleanliness of each room to the lovely variety of food provided is excellent. The support for Dad's well-being and tact and respect in
his personal care has been faultless. Any concerns or queries that we have made have always been responded to in an appropriate and satisfactory manner.

Every member of the team interacts with each resident with respect and humour when called for and reassurance when needed. We feel secure in the knowledge that however the journey of Dad's illness proceeds, we know that every step of the way he is helped, respected and protected. This is the manager and the amazing team that makes Ocean Breeze so special, for Dad, for me and for all our family; and for other families who have entrusted their loved ones into the care of Ocean Breeze Care home. It has given us peace of mind and security knowing that we have chosen the best environment for our loved one.

I feel the need to write this second review for Ocean Breeze care home as still being a fabulous care home, my mother has lived there for nearly two years and they all still maintain all her necessities to the highest standard. There is a new manager, and over the past year she keeps up with all the
needs of all the residents for their day to day life in a caring and very professional manner. The home is spotlessly clean, the meals are still paramount to all their nutritional needs. The activity's and entertainment are always planned out for the week and are good fun. I look forward every time to visiting my mother and all the team - In all I can't praise this care home enough.

Ocean Breeze is an excellent run home with a first class team of staff in operation. The bedrooms are delightful and modern as is the whole home. The general facilities, cleanliness of the home, food and activities are all excellent and presented by wonderfully caring, patient and kind staff. From the
Home manager down there is safety, security, support and all residents are treated with dignity and fairness. The overall standard in everything is first class and there is always an ear who will listen should you wish for assistance albeit for you, your family member or anything else within the home for that matter. Moreover, they try hard, they work hard and they care in every way they can. Very highly recommended today just as it was when I placed my mother there some twenty months ago.

The manager of the care home was very helpful admitting my mother at short notice. The home has accommodated her very well considering she is over 100 and bedridden.
All the staff are very caring in their approach to the patients. The home is above all immaculate and clean and I would recommend the
home to all patients whether they have dementia or are fully bedridden.

My husband was admitted three weeks ago as emergency respite care. I had become exhausted, my husband last stage Alzheimer's disease (8 years). Home selected on personal recommendation of a friend. Visited on Wednesday with son and husband. Lovely area, nice house. Kind, kind staff with great knowledge
of the disease. House beautifully appointed, appropriate to dementia. Husband admitted Monday for respite, long term.

Very impressed with the friendliness of the staff. The day room was immaculate, no offending smells at all and very bright and cheery. It was nice to see staff playing games with the patients and taking great care of everyone. If I have to end up in a care home yours is the nicest I have visited.

I have found all the staff to be extremely friendly and accommodating. My mother has settled in well with the staff going out of their way to ensure she's happy and comfortable. My father passed away at the home and this was handled very compassionately by all at the home. I really cannot think of anything
that could be improved.

This is the third time my wife has been into Ocean Breeze and we have been very pleased with the care and service received. The home is comfortable and well kept, the rooms are pleasant, clean and well appointed. The staff are first class in every way, particularly the head nurse, who mainly looked
after my wife and they have become good friends. The food and activities are acceptable for the residents in the home. As required we shall use Ocean Breeze again, and if asked will passed on our recommendations of this home.

The manager a senior nursing staff has been excellent in arranging emergency respite care. Having assessed the situation my mother was accepted and settled into Ocean Breeze within a few hours. Since being at Ocean Breeze initially as respite care I fully expect my mother will not return home and will
have to stay in a care home for much longer. The way that she and other members of our family have been treated means that Ocean Breeze will be our number one choice.

My Aunt became a resident in March 2016 and is already showing an improvement since being at Ocean Breeze.

After visiting several care homes in the area Ocean Breeze stood out with its caring family atmosphere with genuine compassion and lots of humour.

The staff make every effort to work around

my Aunt's needs rather than making her fit into their routine.

I would not hesitate in recommending Ocean Breeze.

The Management who reside in Nottingham, haven't got a clue of running a care home. All residents have just received a letter informing of a 20%+ increase in fees.
We are in an impossible situation. Also the new contact (which we are not signing) has a £500 dilapidation charge when leaving - is this
normal.
Think very carefully before putting a person into this home.
Staff who look after the residents are excellent.

Reply from Mary McGowan, ceo at Ocean Breeze Residential Care Home

Ocean Breeze Care Home has been open for fourteen months. During that time we have maintained the rates and offered our residents the highest standard of care. Over that period there has been a deterioration in the health of our residents and we have ensured that their increasing care needs have been met. Following changes in Government legislation in relation to employment and increasing staff wages, we have had no option but to increase our weekly rates. It is not a decision we have taken lightly. We have also undertaken a review of other local care homes whose prices are higher. In order to continue to provide the same high level of care for our residents and a safe and secure home from home environment, we have had to review our rates. We feel that Ocean Breeze offers the best care provided by highly trained and caring staff and a homely and happy environment.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.625)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.625) out of 10 for Ocean Breeze Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.725 for Ocean Breeze Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (106 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.725

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ocean Breeze Residential Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
