Abney Court is a purpose-built care home set within the beautiful grounds of Abney Hall Park in Cheadle. The care home provides residential, respite care and compassionate end of life care, as well as specialist dementia care.

Staff are usually helpful. Some are more chatty than others. Night staff are nearly always not permanent employees.

The carers were all lovely, apart from a couple of nights when the overnight staff were very noisy in the early hours. Didn't do any activities so can't comment on them, meals were adequate for what I'm able to eat (my problem). Nothing was done wrong. Impressed with the cleaning and laundry facilities.
The carers and management are great and treat me with respect and dignity.

At Abney Court, we offer a varied activities programme and work with residents to incorporate their preferences, however, we acknowledge that some residents do not wish to take part in group activity. Depending on which suite residents reside in during their stay, on occasions where the staff need to tend to a resident as a matter of urgency, noise may occur. The team work to always endeavour to keep this to an absolute minimum, especially during the night.

The care home is clean, with sparkling water in the fish tank, the food is exemplary, and the staff are so welcoming and put us both at ease straight away. The staff are professional, and the physio is amazing and gave him the confidence to walk. We feel fortunate to have been allocated Abney Court,
and my partner has made wonderful progress since being here. He has been the first short-stay patient - facilities can only get even better. Thank you so much.

Abney Court have done a great job welcoming my uncle and getting him settled in when at the age of 96, and after several falls, he realised he could not live independently at home. The staff are extremely professional and have been very thorough in asking me about his background and medical history,
so they can get to know him. I am so relieved to have peace of mind that he is safe and well looked after.

My sister-in-law is completely isolated at Abney Court due to the fact that the mobile phone signal is non-existent there which means we cannot communicate. The home sits in a walled garden and is surrounded by trees but Care UK should be able to solve this constant problem. I have complained to Care
UK about this but no action is ever taken. I feel my sister-in-law's needs are not being met as she has barely any visitors due to no one being able to contact her to arrange them. She is unhappy and completely alone. I have had occasions when staff fail to pass messages to my sister-in-law which is unacceptable. This is no way to operate a care home as family ties are crucial to a resident's well-being. This home is failing my sister-in-law.

As Abney Court is set in a rural location, there are times when mobile phone signal isn’t strong and therefore we advise relatives to contact the suite directly via a landline. We acknowledge that keeping in regular communication with their relatives is of paramount importance for residents, and our team will support any resident who wishes to call relatives themselves. At Abney Court, we host regular relative meetings to involve relatives in their loved one’s care which helps us to actively understand any issues surrounding residents and their care needs

Auntie came to Abney Court in 2019. Wonderful, loving care throughout her stay with you. Everyone (housekeeping, caring, administration teams) wouldn't have taken better care of their own grandmother. Can't praise the staff highly enough.

My wife has been in Abney Court since Sept '21. She is looked after wonderfully. All staff including cleaning staff watch out for all the residents no matter how ill they are. I have said that if the fees were doubled I would not move my wife elsewhere.

When my mum was discharged from hospital and needed to go into a temporary care home for 9 weeks, we were fortunate enough for mum to be found a nursing place at Abney Court. We are extremely grateful for all the professional care that was provided for our Dear Mum during her stay and the wonderful

My mum has been in the care home since July 2017, I feel she is well looked after. The staff, on the whole, are kind and empathetic but communication needs improving, in lockdown on multiple occasions I'll call to check on my mum and no one can give me the time for an update, so I have to wait hours
to be called back, this is hard when my mum is in late stages. My mum's room could do with a lick of paint overall the home is nice but more training and more quality staff would make it much better for residents and family members alike. For residents in late-stage Alzheimer's, there's no real possibility for activities, I've suggested previously hand massages and other tactile one on one would be of great benefit to residents in late stages.

My mother has been a resident in Abney Court Care Home for more than two years. She is settled and happy and the staff are very attentive. The food is excellent and the facilities are the best I have seen. The coffee bar area is an extra facility and is enjoyed by residents and visitors. The daily activities
are well organised and enjoyed by the residents. The individual bedrooms (all en-suite) provide the residents with their own space and a feeling of independence. The staff are well trained, managers are experienced and easily contactable. I would highly recommend Abney Court if you are looking for a care home for your loved one.

I have 14 years of experience in adult social care and children's services.


I’ve worked hard through the years to gain skills and knowledge in many areas of health and social care for adults and children, and I have progressed through numerous roles over the years. Most recently, I achieved a registered manager’s role.


In this role, my focus is on ensuring we provide quality care and that residents and their families are happy. You need to have patience, good communication and listening skills and empathy. I love communicating with residents, their families and my colleagues. Every day I feel inspired to work alongside my team to provide good standards of care.


Knowing that we provide a positive environment and good quality of life for residents makes me proud in my role.
