Abney Court is a purpose-built care home set within the beautiful grounds of Abney Hall Park in Cheadle. The care home provides residential, respite care and compassionate end of life care, as well as specialist dementia care.

The friendly and caring team at Abney Court get to know each resident and put together a care plan that is tailored to their unique needs. They ensure residents can lead a fulfilling, independent and enjoyable life.

Residents have access to a café where they can catch up with family and friends. There is also a cinema room to enjoy favourite movies, alongside a fully equipped hair and beauty salon where residents can get pampered. The service user for whom I have the lasting power of attorney entered Abney Court Care Home in the early stages of Dementia and is now approaching the final stages. She has been resident there for 2 years. Throughout that period her changing needs have been met with sympathy and addressed with sensitivity
and efficiency. I cannot imagine that more could have been done to ensure her quality of life.
The care staff are all friendly and kind towards their charges. Whenever my friend has had need of medical attention it has been arranged swiftly and effectively. The admin staff are friendly and efficient in the discharge of their duties. Visitors are welcomed warmly.
A full range of varied activities is always available for the residents.
The current chef makes exceptional cakes!
We understand that clothes need to be washed at a high temperature to avoid cross-infection, but this process does have a 'shrinking' effect. Also, some clothes go missing in the process. Otherwise, can't fault the place.

Mum is very well looked after each and every day. Her dementia needs are well catered for. The staff are really really lovely. The whole family is made very welcome whenever we arrive to see Mum. The home and its surroundings ensure that you don't see yourself as visiting a care home more a home away
from home. So glad we as a family found Abney Court Care Home.

I try to visit my friend about once a week and she usually appears to be happy and well cared for. Visitors are welcomed at all reasonable times and have access to most parts of the home. My friend has dementia and thinks she is staying in a hotel. The staff are friendly and appear to enjoy interacting
with the residents even in difficult situations. I think it is one of the best care homes I have visited.

I am very happy with the care being given to my mother, who has advanced dementia. I know that she's steadily declining (as a result of the dementia) and I'm comfortable that everything possible is being done by the staff to care for her in the best possible way.

This is my second review as my mother has now been at Abney Court for nearly 18 months. Overall I am very happy with her care. There have been many ups and downs with my mother's health and some issues are not as common as perhaps other residents may have. I feel the staff at Abney have coped very
well with any such issues and always appear patient and supportive. Abney Court is still a lovely place to visit, it always seems bright and welcoming with fresh flowers, cakes etc. and generally a nice atmosphere. The variety of activities is excellent and I am so grateful that despite the fact that Mum will often say no she is still always invited to join in.

I stayed in Abney Court for three weeks for respite care after surgery. I researched many hones and Abney Court care Home was my first choice, it felt more like a hotel than a care home.
The coffee shop was a lovely place to meet other residents and also entertain my visitors who were very impressed.
All the staff were extremely friendly and caring and nothing was too much trouble for them to do whatever I wanted.
The activities and entertainment were very varied. I would go back to Abney Court if I needed respite care again.

Abney Court challenged all my preconceptions about care homes. Wonderful caring staff who really know the meaning of person-centred care. Fantastic facilities, including a lovely coffee shop, cinema and hairdressers. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and full of fun!! The activities staff work extremely
hard to ensure there is a weekly schedule of interesting and engaging activities. Mum initially came for respite and loved it so much, she is now a permanent resident.

She has settled here really well, is very well cared for, is happy and has made good friends.
It is a pleasure to visit her at Abney, we always feel welcome.

I have been very impressed by the facilities here, but above all by the staff. All the care staff have been well selected for the way they deal with residents - respectfully, kindly, with patience and with humour. This is not only when they know a relative is in earshot, but also when they are not
aware a relative is nearby. There is also a separate team of 'lifestyle' staff who have been equally well chosen for their cheerfulness, thoughtfulness and indefatigable enthusiasm. They organise activities ranging from Tai Chi, through to animal petting, regular singers, dancers and trips out in the minibus. There is also an extremely comfortable cinema with regular film shows.


The building has been well planned and even though large, has been divided into smaller more personal units. The furnishings are attractive, comfortable and homely. It is always kept scrupulously clean. Some staff have said that Abney is a much better place to work than their previous care home employers.

Since settling my mother and father in law in Abney Court, a huge weight has been lifted. We had been coping with them for 3 years without any help. Abney Court now takes care of them physically and emotionally, fulfilling their every need in a way that we couldn't do. The activities are amazing and
my mother in law is thriving and enjoying life again.

I have 14 years of experience in adult social care and children's services.


I’ve worked hard through the years to gain skills and knowledge in many areas of health and social care for adults and children, and I have progressed through numerous roles over the years. Most recently, I achieved a registered manager’s role.


In this role, my focus is on ensuring we provide quality care and that residents and their families are happy. You need to have patience, good communication and listening skills and empathy. I love communicating with residents, their families and my colleagues. Every day I feel inspired to work alongside my team to provide good standards of care.


Knowing that we provide a positive environment and good quality of life for residents makes me proud in my role.
