Fountains Lodge is a purpose-built dementia home offering both residential and nursing care. The home offers short stays too (including palliative care), to help both carers and their elderly loved ones at times when they need a break or a little extra support.

All bedrooms are tastefully decorated and offer en suite facilities, while some come with patio doors providing direct garden access. The home also own café as well as lounges and private dining areas for family and friends to come and enjoy when visiting their loved ones or celebrating a birthday or anniversary together.

Fountains Lodge is situated in Southborough, Tunbridge Wells a few minutes from all its amenities – shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, and has good transport and road links, making it ideally located for visiting family and friends.

At Fountains Lodge, staff take great care to focus on the person. It’s important for residents to feel at home, so it creates a friendly environment with an individually appropriate balance of care and independence.

Enjoying food is an important part of life. The chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients and try to cater for all ethnicity groups. Soon after a resident arrives at Fountains Lodge, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

Observed residents unsupervised for period in excess of 30 minutes. Observed carer placing soiled pad on soft furnishing. Cushion removed for deep cleaning and chair left without a cushion for weeks. Resident left unattended in room after falling and injuring head. With too many continuing concerns
regarding the level of care at this home, there is only one way to deal with the situation ... move to an alternative provider.. done!

We know our relative will be treated compassionately and caringly at the home and when we are not there we know they are safe and cared for. Staff, however, busy will always find time to discuss any concerns we may have about our relative and are prompt to contact us if they themselves have any concerns.
The home provides a good range of activities each day and had many events and shows over Xmas. Many residents were singing and dancing with pleasure etched on their faces.

My Mother took up residence in difficult circumstances. Nothing phased the staff. They simply got on with helping Mum as best they could. I was always kept informed of all that was being done and what the plan was. It was tough going to start with but three months on and Mum is now in the best state
possible for her to be in. She is calm and occupied happily with activities. All of which is a testament to the dedication of the carers. Whenever I visit, I am welcomed, whatever day of the week or time of day. I am particularly pleased to see that the carers are really getting to understand who Mum is and what she is capable of. The philosophy is to make the residents lives as happy as possible. I and other family members have peace of mind knowing that Mum is being treated with respect in a safe and stimulating environment. I have already recommended Fountains Lodge to others and I will continue to do so.

The ability for residents to take ad hoc or organised trips outside the care home seems to us limited.


We have noticed a fall off in the quality of restaurant food during the last 12 to 18 months.


There have been occasions when we have experienced resident uncleanliness (by smell) at time of

visit.


However, staff are always helpful and caring.

It is abundantly clear as soon as you walk into Fountains Lodge that you are entering a caring community. The staff are exceptionally friendly and all seem to be aware of mothers health and wellbeing. Mother is well cared for, her room is kept clean, and her personal appearance is always as she herself
would expect it to be. The carers are all exceptional.
