My family has been so impressed with the level of care, support and help afforded to my parents. They are spotlessly clean. Their clothes laundered, hair done, warm, well fed and most importantly feel safe and secure. The use of Facebook has enabled all members of our family to share in the life at
Spencer House. A huge thank you to all who contribute to this excellent level of care.

My mother is at the care home for respite while she recovers from a fractured wrist. She is always happy and content when I go and see her with the grandchildren, are always welcomed and there seems to be a friendly atmosphere. I leave there feeling confident and satisfied mum is being looked after.

I cannot fault this place. It is peaceful, clean and quiet. The staff cannot do enough for my aunt and her visitors. My aunt is not the easiest person to cater for the fact that she has settled so well is a testament to the standard of care she is receiving. She is a very fussy eater so she will never
find the meals ideal for her tastes but her visitors have found the food to be of a good standard. The proximity to N G H makes it an ideal location.

Mum was treated with the greatest respect and kindness. The staff were very helpful and friendly. They did all they could to keep mum clean and comfortable. The care was first class. The staff were always welcoming, never made to feel we were in the way when visiting. All staff very pleasant and polite
and chatty. The home is kept beautifully clean. The lady on reception was lovely too. When I left mum after visiting her I felt confident that she was being well looked after and she was quite contented there.

My wife's grandfather stayed at the home for respite care. The home was always clean and presentable with staff always polite and happy to help. It was lovely to see 'grandad' in a sociable environment meeting new people and trying new things.
His room was decorated lovely and was a good space and
had everything he needed- including his own wet room.
The garden is an amazing place to be able to sit and see what is going on around you. He loved his garden at home.
Once you have visited you definitely tell others about Spencer House.

My father stayed here for a number weeks respite after being admitted to Blenheim ward. His stay in Althorp enabled him to have a rest and be looked after in a safe environment. He was encouraged to keep mobile and join others to make new friends and acquaintances.
The staff were always happy and
helpful and always willing to talk things through and help with the move back home. The home was immaculately clean and presented like a 5star hotel with the quality of care to match.
My father took part in some of the activities on offer and even enjoyed them even though was reluctant at first.
Spencer house is a wonderful care home with beautiful gardens and surroundings for all to enjoy. It was great to know I could visit when I wanted and not be restricted to certain times.

Mother had been in hospital for a major operation at her age (92). Treatment and support given by Spencer House was fantastic. The whole family are so much in debt to the staff at Spencer House.

The team at Avery- Spencer House are simply amazing. When my father and mother had a crisis and my dad was taken to hospital, whilst I looked after my mum, the team at Avery- assessed my dad at the hospital and swiftly arranged for my dad to stay at the care home. They went beyond with their help, they
are extremely caring, compassionate, understanding, enthusiastic, friendly and great fun. My dad loves going for his respite.

Came here January 2015 - experience of Avery Homes. Delightful surroundings, high up, little traffic noise. Next to N hospital. Ground floor - open glass door tom patio, grass area and raised bed, plus bird table! My room is sunny from midday, I have own furniture, staff clean. I am 95 years old and
am a very sociable character! Social girls, friendly, all carers a delight and interesting to talk to. Wonderful carers, take an interest in offers and most are too many out of my need! Cinema, hairdresser and free hand and nail treatment given. All I could wish for! I have to be in care!!

Dad is well cared for and wants for nothing. He is very happy, which is great to see. The staff genuinely care, and the home is very clean with activities running from 9:30am until 5pm everyday. Some evenings there is entertainment such as a singer. The food is varied and dad enjoys his mealtimes. We
looked at nine care homes and Spencer House is head and shoulders above the others we looked at.

I am currently working as a senior General Manager for Spencer House Care Home and support the company with multi-site management. I joined Avery Health Care in 2015 and worked at Ashurst Mews Care Home in Moulton Northamptonshire. I am a registered general nurse by profession. I spent many years at Ashurst Mews and this helped me develop my foundations of delivering excellent care and also developed my management skills, my personal skills and this provided me with the opportunity to transfer to Spencer House to develop further as a senior General Manager. I have a real passion for developing staff and consider myself a very hands-on manager.


I take pride in leading by example and working with and for both our residents and staff. I enjoy watching our home go from strength to strength and find the small achievements equally important as the larger ones. I like to see our ethos of care being delivered every day and watching my residents blossom, remain well, feel at home and safe under the care of my staff and myself. I find the receptiveness of staff and residents to any improvements we make effortless. I particularly take pride in watching my staff embrace any new changes and challenges and developing their knowledge of any new, innovative systems we implement. I have been delighted to accept and feel the timing was right.


I very much enjoy spending time with my family and looking after them. I have a keen interest in cooking and spend a lot of my free time with my family. I very much enjoy being outdoors and can spend many hours attending to my garden. I also like to keep myself active physically. I enjoy regular countryside walks. I like to keep abreast of current affairs and take an interest in world events, often watching global news programmes and documentaries.
