My aunt has been in a number of different hospitals and care homes since becoming incapacitated with vascular dementia 5 years ago. As her condition has deteriorated she has moved from place to place and has now been at Anwen for more than 4 months. She has been extremely fortunate to receive excellent
care in all but one of the places at which she has been resident, but I can say, with hand on my heart, that the care she has received at Anwen could not be bettered. The administrative staff, nurses and carers, without exception, approach their work with total professionalism. This may be expected, but at Anwen staff have exceeded all my expectations. In all they do they show they truly CARE. Couple this with superb accommodation and facilities together with a range of well-planned activities and you could not find a better home. My sincere thanks to everyone at Anwen for all they do to make my aunt's difficult life as comfortable as possible.

My wife moved into Anwen in February 2016. It took a while for her to know the staff and the staff to know her. Within the first week, my wife was confined to bed and ended up in hospital for 2 weeks.
I felt more could have been done during the early stages. I visit my wife most days and assist with
her feeding. She is unable now to communicate her needs but having got to know the staff and management, I find them very helpful and obliging and they will do all they can.
I do find on occasions staff are thin on the ground, they would like to do more but often find themselves under pressure.

My wife moved into Anwen care some sixteen months ago. The home is warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean.
The décor is warm, homely and cheerful not clinical like hospital wards.
The staff are very helpful and friendly and it's on a first-name relationship between them and us, visitors and residents,
it's like one big family.
The food is very good with a good selection, presented in a professional manner with drinks and snacks available throughout the day.
As a family, we are very pleased with my wife's care.

I visit every day and see that my mother appears relaxed generally and at ease in her surroundings.
She is always clean and smartly presented. Staff show empathy, help and spend time with residents to reassure them when they are distressed or anxious.

From the first day of arrival we were made to feel welcome, from the carers, nursing staff and housekeepers, to the management.


The home is always clean, and my mother always looks well cared for. The food is very good and varied. My mother is treated as an individual which is important. Staff

are helpful if I ever have a problem. The activities girls are good with my mother, overall the home is very pleasant.

The home is very clean and a pleasure to walk into. The carers are always pleasant and chatty even though they are extremely busy. There are always available for a chat and always around ensuring the needs of the residents are taken care of. I've attended a few celebrations e.g birthdays, anniversaries,
Christmas and they ensure all the residents are involved. This is a very well kept home where staff and residents interact.

My aunt has been in Anwen since November 2015 and is now settled with the help and support of the carers and team in Anwen. She has always been a quiet person but has taken to the staff very well. She always looks well and always dressed and washed. The staff respond to her and communicate and sing
with her daily.

My mother stayed for six months and had fantastic care. The home was immaculately clean and my mum was well cared for in all ways at all times. Mum had to leave due to an illness and had to be moved to closer to home for dad to visit as he could no longer drive. I would live there in my later life.

For the length of time that my mum has been in Anwen Care Home (since February 2015). I have found it to be a very caring home with excellent staff and management. The food and the cleanliness of the home is second to none and I have no complaints at all. I will be very happy to leave my mum there for
as long as she needs care.

Very happy with care they give my mother. We have seen huge improvements in her health and well being. However when my Mum arrived at the care home she had two hearing aids, 7 months on they have both been lost. It is very hard to communicate with her without them and hate that it has become the norm
not being able to communicate properly.

We thank Gareth for his positive review and apologise unreservedly for the missing hearing aids. This should have been dealt with promptly. The Resident has been referred to audiology clinic to replace her hearing aid. We have introduced separate storage facility in each bedroom for items like hearing aids and glasses that sometimes are misplaced by staff and residents.

The home is a lively, active place and Caron Group’s guiding principles; respect, dignity and choice, are echoed in everything we do. I have worked within the care sector for 26 years and it is important to remember that high-quality care is not just about tending to physical needs, but also about understanding and nurturing emotions, whilst creating a sense of belonging. My favourite part of any day is interacting with the residents and seeing them smile.
