My Father resided in Cavell Court for 6 weeks before he sadly passed away in March. The opinion of Cavell Court is very mixed. Firstly it's incredibly expensive for what is effectively a Travelodge with 24-hour care. Some of the individual staff were very pleasant and very caring, but the concept of
ABC (Activity Based Care) was not apparent at all. Sure there was the occasional activity in the afternoon, but residents were not exactly encouraged to take part. The coffee shop is novel, but often the cakes had run out by lunchtime (often eaten by the staff). There are hardly any seats in the café, and on one visit a member of staff was spread out across one table for four and didn't offer to make space for our family. The food looks average to poor. When my Father died, not one member of staff came to the funeral and the Care home did not even send a card. This is POOR! Cavell Court felt more like a factory than a home which really cared. A caveat though: some staff really were lovely!!!

Although we also understand that you have some concerns and would like to assure you that we take these very seriously. The café at Cavell Court is a busy and vibrant place, where residents, family and friends and visitors from the community can come together. We have seating for approximately 24 people, which at most times of the day is ample for those using the facilities. We encourage companionship amongst the team and residents, and you can often find them enjoying the space together. We try to ensure that refreshments are replenished frequently throughout the day, but there may indeed be busier times. With regards to activities within the home, the team support residents to continue with their own hobbies and interests, with both group and individual activities. Our lifestyle team strive to provide a variety of daily activities that everyone can enjoy and they are always keen for feedback or requests. Where possible and when management are made aware of any resident’s funeral arrangements, a member of our team will attend on behalf of Cavell Court and we apologise that in this instance there has been a miscommunication. The home manager will be in contact with you to address this and any further comments you may have.

As I was not the person staying and only phoned from time to time, I cannot really comment on staff or organisation. Except to say that my wife was received well and care for throughout her stay. Visitors are made to fell very welcome.

Very happy with the ways things are dealt with.
My cousin has lost her watch which was removed when she broke her arm, but can't find it since returning from hospital.
My cousin has dementia and when she was diagnosed, she made the decision to move into a home. She is quite happy to be on her own,
even though the staff do try and get her to participate with others

My dear friend decided to enter the nursing home to have end of life care. The staff were amazing, the care they gave was always attentive and always made sure that friends and relatives were comfortable. Sadly, she passed away peacefully during the night after 4 weeks stay. I would have no hesitation
in recommending the care home.

My mum and dad have been at Cavell Court for two weeks of respite. We have been particularly impressed with the staff, who have all been kind, caring, friendly and open and have shown great patience, humour and compassion in all that they do. All the admin before the stay was done efficiently, giving
us a great sense of confidence before my mum and dad come. The facilities, particularly on the ground floor, are exceptional, not like a care home at all. I do, however, think that more use would be made of these great facilities.

My son has terminal secondary breast cancer, which has spread to his bones and brain. I needed to find my son a comfortable place to be his last home. He needs 24-hour care, I live quite near to Cavell Court and walked in unannounced, so I could see what it was like. I was overjoyed to see such a beautiful
place and staff are so friendly, more like a 5 star hotel. Luckily there was a room available for my son. He has been in Cavell court for nearly 4 weeks, and I must say it is a lovely, caring, clean home. The managers and staff are first class, he is happy with all aspects. Sadly, he is deteriorating, but we have comfort in my son being cared for.

The short time my mother spent here we were very happy, she really enjoyed it. The home is warm and friendly, as soon as you walked in the door, the staff and management were courteous and professional, but most of all, they treated the residents with respect and patience. Mum loved to joke with them
and they loved her, our greatest regret is we did not make the decision to come here sooner, it was like you were a part of the family. It's one of a kind - you don't find places like this often. Thank you.

After having been in hospital nearly 7 weeks this is wonderful. Staff are so friendly and cheerful. If you are down you don't stay down for long. It's a lovely place. I am on a special diet and staff have tried very hard to find something that I like and can enjoy. I would like to recommend this to

My mother comes to Cavell Court for regular respite weekends. She is 84, suffered a severe stroke leaving her unable to speak and paralysed down her right hand side. The staff work hard to make her feel welcome and comfortable and are always friendly and cheerful. The home is like a 4* hotel and is
furnished as beautifully as our own home so it really is a "home from home" for mum. Great food and coffee too!

This is a truly excellent place. Surpassed any expectation I had of a home. The staff are extremely caring, kind and friendly. The rooms are very well thought out with en-suite wet room. A good choice of food, with the chef always prepared to offer an alternative if a resident do not want the menu choice.
I love the fact there are table cloths, serviettes and printed menus. There is a kitchen area where visitors can make themselves tea or coffee and also a coffee shop by reception. Activities and trips are on offer for those residents who wish to take part.

Dad came into Cavell Court for a week while I was on holiday. The carers are all very nice indeed and very caring and very attentive to dad, especially in the night when he does not sleep. It was a huge relief for me to know he was being well cared for while I was away. The variety of sitting rooms
is a success as is the café and the lovely coffee.

We came to visit a friend today. We were met and taken to her room. We have visited friends in care homes before but not Care UK homes this is excellent, staff so friendly and even came into the room while we were there excellent. We have been made to feel that this is more than a care home and must
be so much nicer than others. We spoke to the head chef about menus once again excellent! A lady that showed us around gave us more of an insight into the home. We cannot say enough about Cavell Court and this was only our first visit! Staff are very happy.

This is now my home and I quickly add a very happy one. It is difficult to describe the many features that contribute to make it so. First and foremost the friendly and efficient carers and the beautiful décor, this care home is so well run it nearly doesn't seem like one. More like a luxurious holiday

Job Title: Home Manager

I qualified as a Nurse in Portugal in 2010, and my first care job in the UK was for Care UK.


I left after five years to progress my career, but I decided to return because I believe in Care UK’s values and commitment to caring for residents.


Care UK is the best place I have ever worked. The support provided to colleagues is fantastic. Providing care is about being passionate and committed. As Home Manager, I believe it’s important to listen to and support residents, relatives and colleagues in the home on a day-to-day basis. I work hard to make a difference in their lives.


The safety and wellbeing of the residents living at Cavell Court of the utmost importance to me, and ensuring all procedures are followed is an important part of my role. My favourite part of the day is walking around the home every morning to talk to each resident and team member.


When I’m not working, I love to spend time with my family. I enjoy time in the garden and do DIY at home.
