My husband lived at Wentworth Court for over 18 months. During this time he came to like and trust the staff who were always caring, kind and compassionate. He died in mid-January and increasingly needed nursing care during the last three months of his life. In the last two weeks, he needed constant
nursing. During this time, all the staff, but especially the nurses, showed great skill and professionalism and as a result, my husband experienced little distress or pain.
Overall my view of my husband's time in the home is positive. Caring for people with advanced dementia and similar long-term conditions is not always straightforward. It requires specialist training and knowledge and while there were a few occasions when I had some concerns, I always felt able to raise them I was listened to and action was taken to make improvements. Since it opened in May 2015, Wentworth Court has worked hard to provide a good standard of compassionate care to its residents.

My wife has been a resident at Wentworth Court over the past 7 months and during that time she has been looked after better than I could have looked after her at home. The activities could have been better but maybe this is due to my wife not joining in with the activities that are available.

Very friendly staff, bedroom very nice and good sized bathroom. Always warm and clean. Lovely gardens. The only problems are that personal items keep disappearing - I know that this is because other residents walk into my husband's room and take things, but after 3 pairs of slippers went and photographs
also, I have decided not to keep replacing things. I have used marker pens on everything but it doesn't seem to help.

Husband has dementia. Is resident in Wentworth Court, when visiting one is made very welcome and I find my husband is in very good reliable hands, sometimes when visiting he is very chatty, other times is very quiet and sleepy. But whichever way I find he is always most content and I would recommend
the care at Wentworth Court to anyone.

Wentworth Court has been supplying excellent care since he came here in November. We cannot fault the care given in any aspect. The staff are all easy to relate to and always very helpful. We as a family are very happy with my husband's care.

When we had to move my 95yr old father from supported 'independent' living into 24hr residential care we did a lot of research into suitable placements and spoke to social and healthcare professionals. We visited several properties on the resulting shortlist and Wentworth Court was by far the most
impressive. Modern, purpose built, clean, light and airy with plenty of clearly identifiable staff on hand. The rooms are of a decent size and Dad could have his pictures on the wall and knick knacks displayed which made it feel 'his'. The outside space is very pleasant to sit in and walk around. He greatly enjoyed the company of others and the arranged programme of activities. He particularly enjoyed sitting in the entrance atrium watching the comings and goings. The food was very good too.

The care he received throughout his all too short stay was exceptional, delivered with compassion and empathy.

My recommendation? - Among Dad's last words.......' I like it here'.

Mum Moved Into Wentworth on July 6th. She had previously been in another care home were she had a fall and broke her hip. Mum was not Happy about returning there so I went to look at Wentworth. I was very impressed in what I saw so decided to move Mum in. This was the best decision ever made on Mums
behalf, she is so happy, settled and putting on weight and could not be looked after better. Staff are excellent cannot do enough to help. I would not hesitate to recommend Wentworth,

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.379)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.379) out of 10 for Wentworth Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.787 for Wentworth Court is calculated as follows: ( (86 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.787

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.592 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wentworth Court is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 13 = 0.692

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Georgiana Rossu

Job Title: Registered Nursing Manager

Tell us a little about yourself

I studied for my first degree in nursing before I gained a master’s degree in nutrition and food safety at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest. I have always been ambitious and since I started working at Wentworth Court as a nurse five years ago, I have progressed to be the clinical lead for the home, and I am now the Registered Nursing Manager.

What inspired you to train as a nurse?

Since I was a child, I have had a great respect for the ‘white coat’ profession. I remember when my mum had to stay in hospital for two weeks, I decided I wanted to be a nurse more than anything else!

What do you like most about working in a nursing home?

I like getting to know the residents and their familiarity, that they don’t leave after a set period of time like in a hospital. In a nursing home, you get to know and see the person, rather than a diagnosis. In my personal experience, I have found working in a nursing home to be far more rewarding than in a hospital setting.

What are three great things about working at Wentworth Court?

For me, the people living at Wentworth Court, we get great feedback from the residents we work with. Also working with a great team where we are always learning and expanding our knowledge. I love that every day is unique!

What do you think makes Wentworth Court a special place?

The whole home approach where everyone is involved in supporting our residents’ wellbeing and the buzzing atmosphere! Being professional doesn’t rule out laughter and joy – we are all committed to making Wentworth Court a wonderful place to live.

Job Title: General Manager

I live in Gloucester with my wife and young family.

How did you get to work in care?

Back in 2002, my wife was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away the following year. Within that 12-month period, she was subjected to weekly chemotherapy treatment and fortnightly drainage of ascites.

The nurses at Cheltenham General were so attentive and empathetic whilst carrying out their duties and I thought ‘I’d love to do something like that, I bet I’d be good at it,’ despite having trained and worked as an accountant.

After a time, I saw an advert for a carer in Oxford, applied and following the usual checks, I was offered the position.

Within a year I had completed my Health And Social Care NVQ Levels 2 and 3 and had become a Senior Carer. Further promotions culminated in me becoming Care Manager. I joined the team at Wentworth Court in June 2015 and was promoted to Head of Residential Care in January 2016 and was appointed Manager in 2018.

What do you like most about working in the care industry?

It sounds cheesy but the thought of making a positive impact on a resident’s day, week and/or life is what I really love about care work in general.

What are three great things about working at Wentworth Court?

I’d say the three best things about working at Wentworth Court is the bright and pleasant environment, the wonderful staff that I get to work with and most important of all, the residents.

What do you think makes Wentworth Court a special place?

The family-like atmosphere and the relaxed yet professional approach that has evolved at Wentworth Court.
