Hartismere Place is an 'Outstanding' CQC rated (February 2020), purpose-built care home in Eye, North Suffolk. The team delivers residential and dementia care on a short-term or permanent basis. They also run a day club designed for older people in the local area.

The home is designed to support a fulfilling, varied and comfortable lifestyle. Residents can enjoy the in-house café, hair salon and cinema room. Each bedroom has en-suite facilities, and residents can bring their own possessions to help them feel at home.

My husband has attended the Day Centre for the last few weeks for 1 day a week. After the first 2 weeks he settled and now really enjoys it and looks forward to going.
If the cost was less, he would be happy to attend more days.

My father has been very well treated since he arrived in late October. His room is very well decorated, easy to move around in, with a well set up ensuite. All the staff are very friendly, caring and approachable. They are always bright and cheerful.
The food is excellent and my father looks forward
to all his meals. Individual preferences are catered for, he has a particular love of ice cream which they always rustle up for him. My father feels safe, secure and well looked after. He is happy and so are we.

As a new resident, mother appears to have settled into the care home quickly. Her needs are met and staff greet her warmly by name. The home is always clean and tidy, mother is always well dressed which has always been important to her.

Excellent staff. It was good to go away knowing my Dad was being well looked after for a respite period. Lovely home with lots going on to keep residents entertained. Very welcoming home. Professionally run home with residents being at the centre of care. Thank you all so much.

I cannot express enough how grateful I am to the staff at Hartismere Place, where my wife has been residing for the past two years. The transformation in her health and well-being is remarkable. When she first arrived, I was worried about how she would adapt, but thanks to the outstanding care she has
received, she has improved in ways I never thought possible.
I am truly thankful for the fantastic job they have done in caring for my wife. The home is run extremely well and I know she is in good hands.

Mum is a resident and wheelchair-bound suffering with Parkinsons. Dad is a fit and healthy 84-year-old and visits Mum daily. Every member of staff is extraordinary in their care and the way in which they deal with my parents. Normally I would say I couldn't wish for a better care home for Mum as they
are so good, then they really pushed the boat out a few weeks ago. It was Mum and Dad's diamond wedding anniversary on the 25th of July and they decided to renew their vows. All the staff were incredible, decorating the cinema room to use, providing buttonholes and an afternoon tea. Some attended the ceremony as well because they wanted to, because they care. All of the staff genuinely care and I feel very lucky that we found Hartismere for Mum. Parkinson's is a terrible disease and nothing was harder than making the decision that we could no longer care for her at home. Once she was there though it was easy to see we had made the right decision. A massive heartfelt thanks to all of them.

Mum has seemed to be happy during the past five years while living at Hartismere Place. We are confident that she is treated with dignity and respect and we regularly witness her receiving kindness love and affection.
Our only concern at the moment is that since the daycare centre has re-opened, it
seems that the residents do not have the opportunity to take part in as many activities as it all seems that the focus is all on the daycare centre. We feel that Mum (and most likely other residents) needs the simulation, opportunity and encouragement to exercise her motor skills and be creative as Mum has enjoyed many activities with Hartismere Place in the past, especially anything to do with baking which was her passion.

Please be reassured that we have three members of our Lifestyle team who organise a variety of group and one-to-one activities for residents living at Hartismere Place. These team members are not involved in the Day Club as this runs entirely separately from the care home. To find out more about the activities going on at Hartismere Place, we display these in reception each week and encourage relatives to use the App to keep up-to-date with the range of activities their loved one has participated in that week.

We moved Mum into Hartismere to be closer to us and so we could visit her more often. What a wonderful decision that was, for all of us. From the very beginning, the Home has been welcoming with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Everyone, from reception to the kitchen, is so caring, attentive and supportive
and we have seen such an improvement in her quality of life. Every visit is a pleasure, spending time with her in her room, having a coffee in the cafe or a walk around the beautiful gardens. Thank you, everyone.

Have always found all staff friendly and helpful.
Nice atmosphere within the home. My mother has been here for nearly 10 months but her dementia is such that she can't remember 10 minutes ago let alone yesterday but the staff always greet her and bring a smile to her face. Meals are good and I think
she's in the best place she could be.

I had a particularly difficult situation, being the only relation of my uncle, him being incapacitated by a stroke and me not holding a Power of Attorney, in large part due to not seeing my uncle through the Covid period. This made aspects of being confident we could access funds to pay for care and
on being able to sign a residency agreement 'challenging', but, nothing would stop the quite wonderful staff at Hartismere. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble. These were just 'some challenges' to work through together, and we did indeed, work through them.
But, having moved my uncle into Hartismere, things have just continued to get better and better. The degree of care and real personal interest in his well-being is just wonderful. Everyone is so extremely helpful and cheerful. Even the kitchen staff know me and address me by name.
But it doesn't stop here. The degree of activities and outings the home arranges is nothing short of miraculous. The most wonderful people and place.

The ambience of Hartismere Place is exceptional - every member of staff is a carer, no matter their specific role! My wife and her fellow residents on 'Oak Suite' have Dementia, but the atmosphere is always happy and contented, some achievement given the challenges presented. For my part and that of
all the residents' relatives I've spoken to whilst we might have minor gripes on relatively trivial matters, the all-important practical and supportive care our relatives receive is second to none!

My great aunt has been a resident at Hartismere for almost 18 months and I've noticed such a positive transformation in her general health and happiness. She loves living there and values that she can enjoy alone time as well as socialising as much as she wants. She loves visiting the 'airy cafe' space
which overlooks the garden, has such a lovely social atmosphere and always a stock of yummy cakes!.
The staff are simply amazing and have built such a close relationship with her. She loves their humour and sense of happiness. They are touchingly tender and loving towards her; it means so much to our family that she is so well cared for, valued and treated with so much dignity and kindness. I've developed a great relationship with the staff which means we can openly discuss my great aunt's needs as they evolve and the monthly reviews allow us to make adjustments to increase the support she needs when she needs it.
She is always well-kempt, her room and laundry always clean.

My mum was visiting the care home for two weeks and although she decided not to stay my family could not fault any aspect of the care she received while she was there. I was really impressed with the attention to detail and the fact that despite only being on a two-week visit everyone knew her name.
She received a card and welcome rose plant on arriving at her room. The food was faultless and the entertainment and activities were varied and well thought out.

Clean, tidy and welcoming every time we visited. Always a 'busy' and harmonious vibe throughout the building. Staff always had time to discuss and answer any queries relating to Mum's care or situation. Activities are numerous and very varied with something suitable for everyone, even though Mum would
need us to 'persuade' her to participate. The food is good with a lovely downstairs cafe environment, not to mention an endless supply of home-cooked treats! Staff is always on hand and attentive, something you will appreciate if you've experienced a stay in an NHS hospital recently! Overall a safe and secure environment with a wealth of experienced staff running it. No complaints other than the occasional lack of parking spaces in the car park at peak times.

This is an abridged letter of thanks I wrote to the Hartismere shortly after Dad died.
"We felt as though we must write and thank you for all the care and attention you gave to Dad since he moved to Hartismere Place during February 2023. Yours was the third home we had visited and when we arrived
we immediately liked the vibe and atmosphere, something missing from the other places it seemed. Everyone we met seemed interested.
During his stay we took a lot of confidence from your experience, professionalism and reassurance. I knew Dad would be looked after, he was in a safe place and he would be cared for and that was so important to the whole family.
His move to Hartismere also meant he saw much more of his family than was otherwise likely and he became a member of a new family centred on his suite."

Job Title: Home Manager

I’ve worked for Care UK for nearly a decade now. Before joining the organisation I was a laboratory technician and a registered childminder. When I was looking for a new challenge, I heard great things about Care UK and how its people were supported to develop. That’s certainly been my experience. I started as a carer and have worked my way up. 


I’ve been at Hartismere Place since 2018 as Deputy Manager, so I know everyone here very well. I’ve seen the home grow and flourish, but there’s always more we can do to improve how we work and what we offer to residents, and I’m looking forward to continuing to enhance what we do.  


I love walking around the home and having lovely interactions with the residents. They make my day, as do the great colleagues I work alongside. There’s always a lot of laughter at Hartismere Place, which creates a great atmosphere. 


Outside of work, I’m a keen biker, my husband and I ride all over East Anglia. I also enjoy gardening, spending time with my family, and socialising with friends.
