Hartismere Place is an 'Outstanding' CQC rated (February 2020), purpose-built care home in Eye, North Suffolk. The team delivers residential and dementia care on a short-term or permanent basis. They also run a day club designed for older people in the local area.

The home is designed to support a fulfilling, varied and comfortable lifestyle. Residents can enjoy the in-house café, hair salon and cinema room. Each bedroom has en-suite facilities, and residents can bring their own possessions to help them feel at home.

A daily activities programme is tailored to the interests of residents. If you've been a keen cook or gardener all your life there is no reason for this to change, the team are on hand to support you.

After careful consideration and inspection of all the local care Homes, Hartsmere Place outshone the others. My first impression was confirmed after my mother had a successful three-week respite stay. From the initial conversations with the management team to our final goodbye with the carers, the staff's
professionalism and, more importantly, a genuinely caring human touch made for a comfortable and reassuring stay.
I can't thank you enough. My mother, who suffers from dementia, was vibrant and relaxed when I collected her, and her tone of voice was reinvigorated. The effect of happy stimulus. A joy to see and hear!
We will certainly be using the home again and plan to be Mum's permanent home in the future.

My mother has been a resident at Hartismere Place throughout the pandemic and has always received an excellent level of care and attention. The staff have always shown compassion and affection during extremely difficult times. Whilst the circumstances around my mother's need for constant care are far
from what anyone in the family envisaged or wanted the staff at Hartismere Place have provided an environment that puts my mother's needs first and have always tried to provide the best possible home away from home for her.

Hartismere Place has always had a special place in my heart since I used the care home for respite care for my late wife back in 2015. On this occasion, I arranged for my 95 year old Mother to sample the hospitality and comforts for what turned out to be almost an 8 week stay. The hosting, staff demeanour
and kindness and all round service extended to Mother during her stay was absolutely unbeatable. Accommodations, facilities and entertainment were first class and the Home was ably led by a great Manager and supporting team. I would not hesitate in recommending Hartismere Place and The Care UK Experience to anyone. I am confident of a return should Mother's health stay good. Bravo and thank you all once again for making my Mother's stay so enjoyable and memorable.

My 92-year-old Mum spent the last couple of years of her life at Hartismere Place and now her best friend is a resident there and I can highly recommend it as a well-run, caring home. When my sister and I looked around homes in the area, we were attracted to the architecture and layout as well as the
pleasant atmosphere. The sunny dayroom at the entrance is more like a café than a reception area. Mum used to spend hours there watching what was going on. Sometimes we would have lunch together and I always found the food good. We came to appreciate the care and individual attention provided by the staff and in the last few weeks of her life, we realised it was more than that – it was loving care. Mum passed away and now I visit an old friend of hers from South Yorkshire. On my first visit I was amazed to be welcomed by three staff I knew. The family of my Mum’s friend lives in North Norfolk and in London but they feel the care she receives at Hartismere Place is well worth the journey.

My mum became a resident in April 2022 in the nursing care section of Hartismere Place after being at 2 or 3 other care homes prior to this, and I have to say Hartismere Place is in a different league from the others.
It's modern, clean, well designed with a good layout, has a really professional feel
to it without being too sterile and still feels like home.
The staff are caring and professional and very welcoming to us when we visit; nothing is too much trouble. It's so reassuring knowing that my mum is in such a fantastic place, and I know that she will be getting the best possible care.
The rooms are of a good size and again don't feel like an institution but feel homely, and the little cabinet outside each room where you can put some artefacts or information about the person being cared for is a lovely touch.
Thank you to everyone for your tireless hard work and commitment.

I can’t find fault with this residential home at all. The staff are particularly wonderful, they are so kind and thoughtful towards my mother and nothing is too much trouble. Regular meals with lovely choices, tea and coffee on tap, peace and quiet or chat with others, whatever Mum needs, it’s there

My stepmother came to Hartismere Place initially for respite care when her strength took a nose dive in 2020. She felt very safe and well cared for from the start and quickly made the decision to be a permanent resident. She has brought many of her own items of furniture and decorative art into her
room and it is without doubt the place she calls home. She joins in all the activities and has made new friendships, loves the friendly young staff and the lively atmosphere, and her mental and physical health has improved since she moved to Hartismere Place. We were able to have her home phone line installed in her room so she can make and receive calls just as she always could, and can manage her own dental appointments, etc. as normal. She feels very much in control but with care.
Staff have all been willing to accommodate her requests and do everything possible to make her feel at home.

My mother-in-law came into Hartismere Place following a hospital admission. This was her fifth admission in not so many months. She did not seem to understand that deteriorating every couple of months and then being brought back from the brink by a hospital admission was not the way to enjoy her twilight
years. She is looking and feeling better than she has been for months which I attribute to the care and attention she is receiving. I have nothing but praise for the care and consideration of staff and management. Her room is light and airy, which she loves and she has enjoyed painting and exploring the garden. We now have peace of mind and can relax knowing that she is in capable hands.

I was impressed by the careful approach to infection control and the management of Covid 19. The care home staff were aware of the rules and guidelines. The home was very clean and my client's room was cleaned every day and damp dusted. Although the temperature in my client's room was warm my client
could adjust the heating appropriately to her requirements.
The staff were courteous and polite and greeted me in a kind way ensuring that I was aware of my surroundings.
I observed medication being administered by a qualified nurse and was pleased by the manner in which this was dispensed. The nurse explained what the medication was for before asking my client to take them.
My client was able to join in all activities as she wished and expressed her joy at being able to be part of the gardening club. My client was treated with dignity and her privacy was upheld so I could conduct my private conversations in her own room.

All the management and staff here are approachable, helpful and clearly committed. Activities for the residents are a strong feature here with a dedicated "lifestyle" team. My wife recently had her 80th birthday and everyone really went the extra mile to make it memorable for her and her close family.

Job Title: Home Manager

I’ve worked for Care UK for nearly a decade now. Before joining the organisation I was a laboratory technician and a registered childminder. When I was looking for a new challenge, I heard great things about Care UK and how its people were supported to develop. That’s certainly been my experience. I started as a carer and have worked my way up. 


I’ve been at Hartismere Place since 2018 as Deputy Manager, so I know everyone here very well. I’ve seen the home grow and flourish, but there’s always more we can do to improve how we work and what we offer to residents, and I’m looking forward to continuing to enhance what we do.  


I love walking around the home and having lovely interactions with the residents. They make my day, as do the great colleagues I work alongside. There’s always a lot of laughter at Hartismere Place, which creates a great atmosphere. 


Outside of work, I’m a keen biker, my husband and I ride all over East Anglia. I also enjoy gardening, spending time with my family, and socialising with friends.
