I was in Derby Heights for two weeks respite after having a hip operation. My stay was comfortable and very glad I had chosen this home.

It was pleasing to find that every single member of staff, whether cleaning or maintenance, was interested in the welfare of residents and always willing to help in any way possible. Nothing was too much trouble. The only disappointment was the quality of food (cooking), often overcooked and lacking
flavour. Good ingredients ruined by poor preparation. The bread was very poor and sandwiches very disappointing.

From the first moment my father walked into Derby Heights the staff greeted him in a courteous and friendly manner. We were escorted to his room which was ready with a welcome card and chocolates (I wanted to stay). I observed staff interaction with other residents which was such a positive for me,
I know I'd made the correct decision for my father's stay. Attention to detail is second to none. On his departure 100% correct decision as my father looked great. Staff informed me how Father was doing too.

My mum is 93 and was diagnosed with dementia a few months back. Happily, she was given the opportunity to move into Derby Heights.
She found it rather difficult to reorientate at first, having lived alone in her own house for years. But now – in such an incredibly short space of time – she is settled
and enjoying a brilliant, new and much more social life.
This is all thanks to the concerted effort and continued, gentle encouragement from the lovely, caring team. They are angels.
I found Mum’s sudden change of situation quite hard to cope with. But the team showed as much care for me as they did for my mum. They've made a very difficult situation so much easier for the both of us, and the rest of the family too.
Even if I had the biggest shovel in the world, I could not heap any more praise on the team at Derby Heights – for all they've done for my mum. Their incredible care has given her back her life.
It’s wonderful.

Dad was not well this morning. The staff were very prompt with dealing with the situation and treated Dad with great respect. An ambulance was called which arrived quickly and the ambulance people were excellent in assessing and treating Dad. The care home staff were wonderful throughout and Dad and

I come to visit my grandma regularly. I also, on occasion, bring my children and they are made to feel so welcome by all of the staff. It is a very warm and friendly place to be and has allowed us to make some wonderful memories in these later years of my grandparent's life.

My stay at Derby Heights Care Home has been very comfortable and all the staff have been pleasant and helpful. One little suggestion I would make is that supper should be one hour later. Having had a very nice lunch at 1 pm, I wasn't ready for supper at 5 pm.

Mum has been living at Derby Heights for over a year now and is very settled. Family visit regularly and we are always welcomed and know that Mum is well cared for. On a recent visit, it was so lovely to see a few nursery children visiting and completing puzzles with the residents' help. The atmosphere
is always calm and friendly, it is immaculately kept and all Mum's laundry is beautifully looked after. The meals are excellent and the activities staff are amazing considering how many residents need entertaining. We are so pleased we chose Derby Heights and cannot praise all the team enough for their dedication and care. It felt like such a happy place last week, and back to normal after covid, thankyou.

All staff are so friendly, rooms are very clean and nothing is too much trouble. Dad was in for rehab care and due to Covid regulations had to isolate for two weeks but as soon as he could move around he made friends and enjoyed the facilities and garden.

We have been extremely pleased with the care given to our dear dad since mum passed away. Although the pandemic has restricted visits to see dad the staff have worked hard to enable us to have contact with dad via Skype, phone and a special visiting area in the home. They have had good communication

My mum was a resident for respite care. The staff were very helpful, and the facilities very good, even though some were not available due to COVID-19 restrictions. Mum reported to me that the food was of a very good standard and good levels of cleanliness.

Lynn joined Derby Heights in February 2024 and has a long history of working in the care industry, particularly specialising in elderly care. She has been both a Regional Support and Regional Manager as well as 20+ years experience of in Home Management. Lynn's obvious passion for the care sector stemmed initially from trying to source quality care for family members, and she has built on this personal foundation to establish a solid career. She lives locally and has a good insight into the local area and people. Lynn is a hands-on manager who is most likely found out on the floor with the staff and residents.

Her family have a history of working in the care sector and Jo certainly brings the family feel to the home. As she felt ready for a fresh challenge, February 2024 heralds a major change for Jo as she has taken on the Head Housekeeper role. With all of Jo's care experience, she is a valuable asset and has lots of drive and enthusiasm to achieve the highest standards for our residents. Jo is local to Derby and enjoys spending time with her family, going to the cinema and socialising.


Janet

Janet Greaves

Job Title: Head Chef

Joined: 2022

Janet brings a wealth of experience to Derby Heights on the culinary front and has had an illustrious career since leaving catering college. She has worked in a number of high-profile hotels and restaurants including a 5* restaurant and bistro in Cornwall for ten years. Covid heralded a change for Janet when hotels and restaurants were closed, she sought an alternate route and found herself working in the kitchens of care establishments.


Janet joined our team in 2022 and now focuses on tasty and nutritious meals for our residents. She has a seven-year-old boxer cross dog that keeps her busy outside of work and she also rides a Harley Davidson in her spare time.


Mark

Mark Macdonald

Job Title: Maintenance Operative

Joined: 2024

Mark joined the team as a Maintenance Operative in 2024.


His background is in the building trade, and he is embracing the new challenge of a care setting, Mark is particularly enjoying chatting with the residents and helping to fix things for them.


Mark is a family man with two children and a granddaughter and regularly gets roped into looking after the family's pet rabbits and tropical fish.

Lena Patrick

Job Title: Administrator

Joined: 2023

Lena joined Derby Heights in 2023 as a Customer Service Associate and whilst she really enjoyed the front-of-house role, when an opportunity arose for an Administrator she jumped at the chance. Lena is originally from the USA but has settled in Derby with her husband & cat, and she is getting to know the area and soaking up the Derbyshire culture and accent.
