My mother has been very happy at Derby Heights Care Home since moving in 6 months ago despite the restrictions in place due to Covid. She is particularly impressed by the friendliness and care of the staff, the food and drink on offer and the activities arranged. As a family we are very happy with the
contact and liaison provided by staff to assure us that she is being well looked after.

Mum moved into Derby Heights in the summer of 2020. It was her own decision. She settled in quickly and was made to feel welcome by both staff and fellow residents. I cannot rate the home highly enough. In all aspects, it provides an excellent service. Mum, who lived alone for many years, now has daily
contact with other people and she has been encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities. However, she can still enjoy her own company in the comfort of her own room and she can still have her occasional glass of sherry! The care staff are very attentive and keep the family regularly informed of her welfare. The reception staff and the administration team are great and are always very friendly and helpful either on the phone or when visiting. They have all been superb during the current difficult times. The most important thing is that my mother is safe and happy in her new home and she knows that she herself made the right decision.

Could not be happier. Mum is so well looked after in every respect. I have complete peace of mind both in regards to her physical and mental wellbeing. Nothing is too much trouble, and most importantly, the staff are genuine in their care, concerns and efforts to keep residents happy and comfortable.

I find the staff to be second to none. Really polite and helpful. They keep me informed about any issues. The home is excellently furnished. The stay safe policy during the current lockdown has been clear and comprehensive.

Found it hard to come to terms with Mum going into a residential home, wasn't helped not being able to see her into her room because of Covid-19. I know she is being well looked after.

On entry to the home, one is always greeted warmly by the reception. The area is always kept clean and tidy, coffee, tea and cakes are always available. Arriving on the suite (Sudbury), the staff are always polite and if there is anything to tell you they will call you over. The hostesses and kitchen
staff along with care staff are very helpful at mealtimes as Mum is registered blind and needs assistance. Overall staff training is excellent and meets the necessary requirements of my mum and the other residents. Mum enjoys a laugh and joke with the staff. The attitude of the staff makes me content because Mum is happy there and it gives me peace of mind knowing all is well. An important thing is the office door to the manager is always open which enables one to discuss anything.

My mother has been a resident of Derby Heights care home since March 2019. In that time, her care has been exceptional. The staff are attentive, kind and considerate of her needs. She is encouraged to take part in the many and varied activities on offer and the food is very good and plentiful. She regularly

I have not visited due to being isolated from March until the lockdown is lifted. Denby Heights have contacted me regularly for updates on my mother's wellbeing. She is regularly unwell and the carers have been wonderful, caring, and very responsible.

Visited a family friend and found the home very welcoming. Enjoyed the Christmas fair. The bedrooms were very nice! The home is very clean and decorated beautifully. I like that there is the atrium where I can sit with the family friend and have coffee. The home is safe and reliable and takes good care
of my family friend.

In the last year of my father's life, he could not have been better cared for. He was looked after with kindness, dignity and understanding.

My mum decided to move into Derby Heights in October 2018 and it became her true home. She made amazing friends amongst the staff and residents. The staff are simply outstanding from the carers through to the kitchen, cleaning, admin and management. My mum was quite independent when she moved in and
loved helping out and participating in all the activities. And there is so much to do, as little or as much as you want, and such a wonderful environment, great food and people who truly go beyond their job as caring. My cousin is a professional care worker and had never seen such high standards. As my mum was stage IV cancer she required palliative care subsequently and the level of care was first class. I couldn't have wished for a better last year of her life. To some this review may not seem genuine as I can only put five stars/excellent everywhere, but I literally have nothing to fault. Thank you.

The fact that I came for 2 weeks respite and have now sold my house to fund my life here says it all. A carefree life with every need addressed, living a life of luxury in a lively and stimulating environment. The most important thing to me is that I have given my family the greatest gift ever - the

Lynn joined Derby Heights in February 2024 and has a long history of working in the care industry, particularly specialising in elderly care. She has been both a Regional Support and Regional Manager as well as 20+ years experience of in Home Management. Lynn's obvious passion for the care sector stemmed initially from trying to source quality care for family members, and she has built on this personal foundation to establish a solid career. She lives locally and has a good insight into the local area and people. Lynn is a hands-on manager who is most likely found out on the floor with the staff and residents.

Denise Mclauchlan

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Denise has enjoyed a 27 year career in care, covering a broad spectrum of specialities including, elderly, dementia, mental health and learning disabilities.

Job Title: Head Housekeeper

Jo joined Derby Heights in 2018 as a Care Assistant and has been both a Senior Carer and a Team Leader during her time with us. Her family have a history of working in the care sector and Jo certainly brings the family feel to the home. As she felt ready for a fresh challenge, February 2024 heralds a major change for Jo as she has taken on the Head Housekeeper role. With all of Jo's care experience, she is a valuable asset and has lots of drive and enthusiasm to achieve the highest standards for our residents. Jo is local to Derby and enjoys spending time with her family, going to the cinema and socialising.


Janet

Janet Greaves

Job Title: Head Chef

Joined: 2022

Janet brings a wealth of experience to Derby Heights on the culinary front and has had an illustrious career since leaving catering college. She has worked in a number of high-profile hotels and restaurants including a 5* restaurant and bistro in Cornwall for ten years. Covid heralded a change for Janet when hotels and restaurants were closed, she sought an alternate route and found herself working in the kitchens of care establishments.


Janet joined our team in 2022 and now focuses on tasty and nutritious meals for our residents. She has a seven-year-old boxer cross dog that keeps her busy outside of work and she also rides a Harley Davidson in her spare time.


Mark

Mark Macdonald

Job Title: Maintenance Operative

Joined: 2024

Mark joined the team as a Maintenance Operative in 2024.


His background is in the building trade, and he is embracing the new challenge of a care setting, Mark is particularly enjoying chatting with the residents and helping to fix things for them.


Mark is a family man with two children and a granddaughter and regularly gets roped into looking after the family's pet rabbits and tropical fish.

Lena Patrick

Job Title: Administrator

Joined: 2023

Lena joined Derby Heights in 2023 as a Customer Service Associate and whilst she really enjoyed the front-of-house role, when an opportunity arose for an Administrator she jumped at the chance. Lena is originally from the USA but has settled in Derby with her husband & cat, and she is getting to know the area and soaking up the Derbyshire culture and accent.
