The staff at Cumnor Hill House are exemplary. I can't praise their caring, attention to detail highly enough. From the moment we visited to the time my mother spent as a respite resident to try it out, to the time she moved in permanently, they made the process stress free and seamless. Their standards
far exceed other care homes. My mother is settled and content which is a huge weight off my mind. With me living abroad, the quick response to emails and keeping me informed of events is vital. I have complete confidence they are taking care of Mum just as I would. Thank you Cumnor Hill House team.

We attended the afternoon tea organised by the staff at Cumnor Hill House for my mother's 92nd birthday. It was beautifully laid out, in the library, with a delicious selection of sandwiches, cakes, birthday cake, drinks etc. Everyone was very helpful, friendly and kind. Nothing was too much trouble.
My mother had a wonderful birthday and we all loved sharing it with her.

My mum came to Cumnor Hill via hospice, and we were aware that she was end of life. I have worked in care my self for 33 years, so I was a little anxious, but we were welcomed warmly to a home that was beautiful. She had a very nice room looking onto the garden, which was important due to her being
in bed. Every concern we had, met with a warm, friendly, and interested approach. All of the team were approachable when it came time for her end of life care. I could not have asked for better and in all the homes I have worked, this is the only one I would have felt I had any unresolved feelings.

Mum stayed on a month respite stay.
We could not recommend how satisfied and pleased we were with the home, the care, and the staff enough.
From managers down to floor staff, they are totally professional caring attentive. Mum enjoyed her stay so very much and she has asked to express her satisfaction
to three members of staff in particular for their help and lovely conversation which helped to an enjoyable stay with a view to permanent stay.

I stayed at Connors Hill House Residential care home for 3 weeks while my wife had an operation and recuperated with my son and his wife. I found the whole experience an entirely happy time with great facilities, friendly attentive, and highly professional staff. If I ever need to live in a care home
full time in this area this Joint would be top of my list for preference.

My Mother was living at home sleeping 20 hours a day and given days to weeks to live. She was taken off all meds. It was too difficult to look after her at home as she couldn't walk and it took 2 live-in carers to get her into her wheelchair or on the loo.
We moved her to Cumnor Hill. Set on beautiful
grounds. It was for end-of-life care. However, a month later my Mum is now awake most of the day, can walk, is in the physio gym cycling from a chair, has made biscuits and her BP is down. The Physio has made her much stronger. She doesn't ask to come home and has made a couple of friends. The turnaround has been miraculous. The stimuli and care have turned her life around.

Yesterday was my friend's 90th birthday held in the fine dining area for 8 people. I want to say that from the first time I met the head chef l to organise the meal to the actual day I received nothing but professionalism. The serving staff were amazing and friendly to make this a special day. I travel
and eat out frequently here and abroad and I can honestly say the food and presentation were outstanding. The quality you would expect to receive in any fine-dining restaurant. Thank you so much to the head chef. Regards.

This is my second experience of visiting a resident at Cumnor Hill House. On every occasion I have been greeted with politeness and made to feel very welcome. The carers have always been helpful and kind. The rooms are exceptionally clean and well-maintained. The food is excellent. I would like to see
more activities for the residents and more fresh air in the building.

My friend spent eight years here. At first, he used to go out daily to catch a bus; at the end, a hoist was needed to move him. However, he was always clean, comfortable and looked after in an environment that was as attractive as many hotels. The staff - despite a period, now past, of rapid turnover
- has always been willing, approachable and patient.

My sister has been resident in the nursing wing for the last few weeks and the care has been fantastic. The room is beautiful. The staff are very attentive and caring. As she is on end-of-life care this has made her last days much more comfortable.
I would highly recommend this nursing home.

I have cared for my parents for many years and they lived with my family for several. This is the third care home my father has lived in. The first was not right for him, the second was a complete disgrace and provided unsafe care.
His current home is a complete contrast and looks after him to the
complete satisfaction of his daughter.

Cumnor Hill House is an extremely well-run home offering a warm, welcoming, caring and supportive environment. Any problems are tackled head-on with open, honest conversations involving all the family. Access to excellent medical support. All-inclusive means just that, no hidden extras. Amazing catering
extended to friends and relatives. Staff all work together as a team with excellent leadership. Regular events are held, designed to bring residents and relatives together as a community. Big thumbs up!

My mother has been a resident at Cumnor Hill House for six years. She has always been treated with kindness and compassion and the care she has received is exceptional. She is extremely well looked after and very happy here. The staff are truly wonderful and ensure that all her needs are met, they go
above and beyond their everyday jobs to ensure Mum has what she needs and, as a family, we are so grateful to each and every one of them. The staff member on the reception actions every request, management work very hard to ensure all residents and staff are happy and fully supported. The activities team, physios and laundry staff work so hard for the residents and ensure all their emotional and physical needs are met and the catering manager is one in a million. We are truly grateful for the care and compassion all the staff have shown Mum recently when times have been tough. We cannot rate the home highly enough and I would recommend it to anyone looking for full time care for their loved one.

My father has been at Cumnor Hill House for the last four months and the care he has received has been very good. The staff treat my dad with total respect and dignity, especially with him suffering from mixed dementia his behaviour can sometimes be challenging.

Mum has been a permanent resident since September 2022. She had three periods of respite care prior to this. Mum made the choice to move from independent living to a residential home - a big change. The team supported her and me in the transition compassionately and professionally. Mum has been made
to feel part of a 'family'. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and calm. Like all homes providing care there are vacancies - in no way does this impact on the care or support Mum gets. The team have endless time for her. She is an early riser and as soon as she's awake a coffee appears, something she loves. The home operates on an all inclusive basis. This means she can use all the facilities without paying extra - I can have lunch or afternoon tea with Mum (as can a couple of her friends). This makes Mum feel like she is hosting (which she is). Her health is managed fabulously by the nursing staff who are responsible for the residential floor - a really important factor for Mum.

I am a Registered Nurse and have over 30 years of experience in the Health and Social Care Sector. I began working in care homes in 1992 as a staff nurse and have since held various positions. During this time, I gained the Registered Managers Award qualification. I spent five years working as an Area Manager for a provider which ran five care homes in Oxfordshire. In 2006, I commissioned a new 64-bed dementia specialist home, something I achieved while at the same time successfully studying for a Diploma in dementia care.


My wealth of experience within the care industry, and passion for excellence, allow me to create an environment which promotes each individual’s well-being.
