A full-time events manager at Cumnor Hill House organises a wide variety of activities and events for all residents to enjoy, while the home has its own chauffeur-driven vehicle for residents to use on days out and special occasions.

The trolley is a hugely valued service but the operator is not a registered employee. She is fully committed to the wider community and always willing to support areas within it that are short-staffed. She has run the service for many years and is a ray of sunshine throughout the development.

Cumnor Hill House is an amazing home, so welcoming and accomodating. My mum really enjoys living there and has settled in so well. She loves the garden and the activities that are provided. The care is fantastic and it gives us peace of mind that she is so well cared for.

My wife is in Cumnor Hill House for respite. She suffers from MS and has problems with her walking. She also has the early stages of dementia and can be very confused. The care she receives at Cumnor Hill is extremely good. She has her hair and nails sorted on a regular basis and a physiotherapist visits
every day to help her improve her walking. The food is up to high-quality restaurants and with a free bar, is out of this world. There are frequent activities for her to join in and assistance should it be required.
I'm a Community First Responder and have been on emergency shouts to quite a few care homes locally but have not seen one to better Cumnor Hill in cleanliness and care.

Arranging for my mother to move into a care home was the hardest decision. However, from day one until she sadly died over a year later, all the staff made her welcome and welcomed us as a family. They became part of our extended family and people we and our mother trusted to care for her and keep her
safe. They had a great rapport with my mother, which was so important as she couldn’t communicate. The staff genuinely care, it is not just a job to them. You can see this in the way they are around the residents, adapting their skills as peoples’ needs change. All staff get involved and take an interest regardless of their role. They went the extra mile to help us celebrate birthday and Christmas as a family and make memories. In her final week, they made sure she was cared for with dignity and respect and showed compassion to family members to enable us to say our goodbyes. We are so grateful to the staff for all the care and support they gave to both Mum and us as a family.

My 93-year-old Dad has just returned home after spending two weeks respite at Cumnor Hill House. The staff were all wonderful - not just to Dad but to us too. The home itself is beautiful - so clean. Dad's room looked out on the pretty gardens and there were all the facilities he needed for a relaxing
stay. As for the food...amazing! We hoped that Dad would want to stay but for now he's decided to return home. He may well go back when he's ready.

My parents have been at Cumnor Hill House for the last three years and I have been so impressed by the level of care they have received. The home is beautiful with lovely rooms, common areas and a lovely walking area outside with gardens. I have visited many times and the staff are always friendly and
very caring to the residents. If I ever have a question or need additional information, the staff have been more than happy to speak with me. The atmosphere in the home is always cheerful and positive, you can definitely tell when you visit somewhere if the staff are happy where they work and Cumnor Hill House is one of those places. We have had complete peace of mind that our parents have been well cared for there. The medical care is exceptional with a lovely local doctor as well as the trained staff. The home offers lovely rooms for the residents, a wonderful selection of meals and activities where there is something for everyone. I highly recommend Cumnor Hill House.

My family joined me for a birthday meal at Fine Dining and it was delicious. We had soup or smoked salmon, roast chicken, fruit and cream and cheese and biscuits with coffee. Then came the big surprise! I was presented with a gluten free birthday cake by a thoughtful chef who is always aware of my dietary
needs. This made the perfect ending to a truly memorable occasion.

I am very impressed by the care provided at Cumnor Hill House. All the staff appear to be professionally trained and to enjoy their roles. Without exception, they are friendly towards the residents, know them by name, spent time chatting to them and have endless patience. I guess they are properly paid,
and my only reservation is that some of my friends would not be able to afford to live in Cumnor Hill House.

The staff at Cumnor Hill House took excellent care of my brother and after his death. The management also arranged for the wake to be held at the home and done an excellent job arranging all this for family and friends.

Visiting our friend today was a thoroughly enjoyable and uplifting experience. A delicious meal with pre-dinner drinks was cheerfully served by people I can only describe as a joy to be with. Friendly, funny and slightly teasing. What a joy. This is by far the nicest residential care home I have ever
visited. The atmosphere (the most important factor) was wonderful and the residents looked happy, contented and very chatty. Well done. Please keep it up.

My partner who has Alzheimer's has been in the Cumnor Hill House home since September 2018. He has been treated by all with respect and care. Any little issues have been quickly dealt with to our satisfaction and have been notified with all his ongoing problems. Nothing is too much. A few more carers
might be perfect. On the whole, it is a good home and very difficult to beat. Well done to all.

I am a Registered Nurse and have over 30 years of experience in the Health and Social Care Sector. I began working in care homes in 1992 as a staff nurse and have since held various positions. During this time, I gained the Registered Managers Award qualification. I spent five years working as an Area Manager for a provider which ran five care homes in Oxfordshire. In 2006, I commissioned a new 64-bed dementia specialist home, something I achieved while at the same time successfully studying for a Diploma in dementia care.


My wealth of experience within the care industry, and passion for excellence, allow me to create an environment which promotes each individual’s well-being.
