A wonderful facility- such a comfort to know that Mum is being so well cared for. The staff are always thoughtful and calm and pleasant to be around when I visit. The activities are top notch as is the food and decor.

My sister has now been resident with dementia for approximately 18 months, the staff have been caring and sympathetic during this period and the family are very happy with the selection made and would certainly recommend to anyone who has to make a choice.

I have been here for about four weeks, during that time I have always been treated as an independent person. Due to increasing immobility I now need much more personal care, and the staff are always deferential and caring in their attitude. Although it is a big adjustment from being in my own home -
I constantly feel at ease knowing there is always someone to call if needed and that has lessened my feelings of apprehension at being alone, especially during the night. I hope I will continue to be happy here.

Pleasant, helpful staff who go out of their way to make stay a good experience. Comfortable accommodation with modern, clean facilities. My mum stayed in The Manor House Knaresborough for 3 weeks whilst my husband and I were on holiday visiting our children. She really enjoyed her stay, she found her room light and airy, she thought the food was very good and enjoyed talking to other residents. She found the staff kind and friendly,
ready to help her when needed and to encourage her to take part in the many activities on offer in the large ground floor lounge.

Mum has been at the Manor House since January 2024 on long-term respite care, we are now hoping to make her a permanent resident. Mum was quite anxious to begin with, but quickly settled in due to the wonderful, caring and kind staff. All of the staff, no matter of their role in the home are fantastic.
They have made Mum feel so welcome and the atmosphere is always so happy and friendly, they are like our extended family now. Mum tells me they are all wonderful. They all give Mum such excellent care for everything and they give me support too. They are extremely good at keeping me updated on Mum and her care. Mum is enjoying the varied activities and joins in on a lot of them and spends a lot of her time in the lounge with the new friends she has made, for someone who has been shy all her life this is a massive change, which I am over the moon about. I cannot praise all the staff enough and I could not ask for any better. The best choice I ever made was the Manor House.

Since moving to the home, I've found the staff particularly helpful in assisting with the change from living at home. The meals are very good with plenty of variety. There are plenty of activities which are very well organised. I really enjoyed the trip to the railway museum. I have settled far better
than I thought I would and credit all the staff for this and their care.

Dad recently moved into The Manor and I'm so impressed with the welcoming, friendly manner and the kindness and consideration shown in making sure he is settling and his needs are met. It is such a huge decision to move to a care home, but everything has been handled very efficiently. Within less than
a week medication was sorted and even a weekly distinct nurse visit put in place. The whole place feels warm and welcoming.

My mum became a resident here in September 2023. The preparation for her arrival was excellent and included not only the tour of the facility but an extended meeting with the care home manager who found out as much as she could about Mum before her arrival. The room that she has is spacious and has
everything she needs and I was able to bring items from home to make the space her own. The staff are excellent, so caring and attentive and keep me informed at all times. The food is amazing, Mum's appetite has been restored and she looks forward to all meals which she can eat in her room or the dining room. The activity programme is extensive and although Mum is not one to join in, when I visit I can see other residents enjoying all sorts of stimulation from visiting entertainers, art and crafts, trips out into the local town, get-togethers with other local organisations. The Manor House is more than I could have hoped for and I am delighted that she has become a member of their family.

Mum settled in after a couple of days and I was pleased she joined in so many of the activities available. There seemed to be staff readily available to help and assist in moving mum to the restaurant or lounge, I was a bit surprised all her clothes were washed after 3 days. I hadn't labelled any I
expected her to wear all week so not all items were returned at the end of her stay, and she was wearing loaned underwear although she had some things in her case. The room was very large and welcoming which made her stay easier.

Stayed here for a week of respite care after a hip replacement operation. My room and bathroom were great, plenty of space and very clean. Staff could not do enough for me, supplying me with extra pillows, a TV, and cushions to sit on. I could walk in corridors for exercise and use some of the stairs
which gave me a good start to my recovery. The staff were all helpful and pleasant, food was very good. Definitely would recommend it!

The staff at The Manor House are friendly, caring, professional and efficient. They take a genuine interest in each resident and have made my mum very welcome and helped her settle into the home. The whole family was grateful that Mum was so happy in the final few months she spent at The Manor House Knaresborough - in her words, five-star luxury and fabulous food. The wide corridors, lovely rooms and communal spaces inside and out, all clean and well-maintained, created a welcoming atmosphere
for residents and visitors. Friendly and caring staff were aware of her needs, organised health and medical appointments and encouraged her to join in some of the many activities and events on offer. We thought the home was well managed and provided excellent care and dignity right to the end of her life. We would be happy to recommend the care provider to family and friends.

My mother was given a place, followed by a very thorough and friendly assessment. Mum settled very quickly and joined in the Christmas activities. She has made friends and seems happy. She is also falling a lot less often. Her only complaint is there is too much food.

My mum entering a care home was a nervous time for myself and our family. The Manor House in Knaresborough proved to be everything we could have hoped for and more. The staff are caring and hard-working and bring a real level of humanity and dignity to an otherwise difficult scenario. On every visit
regardless of whom I spoke to, the team knew how my mum had been, how much she'd eaten and whether she'd slept. This was not read from a folder this was information they knew immediately from all the interactions they had with her. I am very grateful to the whole team. I would highly recommend The Manor House Knaresborough.

On January 28th I came in for respite care (my husband is already receiving full-time care) I was made very welcome. The only issue I had was the food, certainly not 5-star, very sameish, boring. Not a well-balanced diet. I must say I have had meals there since and they have improved.

My name is Klara Spatenkova, I am the Manager at The Manor House in Knaresborough.


I qualified as a general nurse in the Czech Republic where I grew up and have lived in Harrogate for 17 years. I have been at The Manor House for over 5 years and progressed to my current position internally.


I truly believe that our team delivers person-centred care that is in accordance with Anchor's values. Our home is located in the market town of Knaresborough and has a cosy family feel. We have close community links and are always looking at new ways to engage our neighbours and local groups to enhance our residents experiences.

I co-ordinate all of the daily activities and plan events such as seasonal fayres, entertainment and excursions. The activities are tailored to suit our residents interests and we pride ourselves in executing a person-centred approach in all we do.
