We use a dependency tool to ensure that there are sufficient staff on each shift to provide high-quality care for our residents. Our evening meal is served from heated trolleys to ensure our food is of an appropriate temperature when served. There are always alternative menu choices available at mealtimes, and we have regular resident and relative meetings, where input into our menus is welcome.

The home's greatest asset is its staff team. I have found the staff without exception to be professional, caring, patient and always respectful of residents and their needs. Residents are treated as individuals and encouraged to make choices, for example as to how much they want to join in with communal activities. The staff are always available for as long as they are needed.
Regular residents' meetings are held, and there is a varied programme of activities each week. The recent appointment of a physiotherapist reflects the careful monitoring of each resident's health need and general wellbeing.
We need more residential homes like this one, and we feel very fortunate to have found it.

My name is Klara Spatenkova, I am the Manager at The Manor House in Knaresborough.
I qualified as a general nurse in the Czech Republic where I grew up and have lived in Harrogate for 17 years. I have been at The Manor House for over 5 years and progressed to my current position internally.
I truly believe that our team delivers person-centred care that is in accordance with Anchor's values. Our home is located in the market town of Knaresborough and has a cosy family feel. We have close community links and are always looking at new ways to engage our neighbours and local groups to enhance our residents experiences.

I am the Activity Co-ordinator at The Manor House in Knaresborough and have been here for six years.
I co-ordinate all of the daily activities and plan events such as seasonal fayres, entertainment and excursions. The activities are tailored to suit our residents interests and we pride ourselves in executing a person-centred approach in all we do.
I love being a part of the team here and working alongside the residents who I consider to be family. It is more than just a job to me.
