Such a lovely care home, all the staff have been very friendly and helpful on each visit. On my most recent visit, the chef agreed that I could have dinner with my friend in the celebration room, the food was lovely we both enjoyed it (compliments to the chef). I'm happy to see my friend is well cared
for here.

My wife and I were invited to join the residents of The Hazelwell Care Home in a Coronation celebration on the day after the event. We were warmly welcomed and invited to partake in an amazing spread of food and to have a drink. It was all excellent. For three hours we were entertained by a pianist
and then by a musician and singer, singing period-related songs for the gathering. There was a voluntary raffle and the prizes were flowers to grace any room. In all, we had a most enjoyable and memorable time.

Having been here 12 weeks, the first 3 as special care after several weeks in hospital after a fall. Having lived alone for 29 years since my wife died, I have decided to become a permanent resident here. I am now 94 (in June). The Hazelwell Care Home is a caring home, both for its residents and its
staff.

Staff are always welcoming and helpful and lots of activities are provided. The coronation day party was one such example where everybody had great fun.

The celebration room and lounge make special occasions feel as though you've been out somewhere and returned home.

My parents recently moved into The Hazelwell Care Home and have settled in very well, thanks to the caring and professional staff. On Sunday we enjoyed a great family occasion in the celebration room. The meal was really lovely and the twelve of us were able to enjoy teas and coffee in the very comfortable
lounge afterwards. I would like to thank the manager, chef and all the staff who went out of their way to make this a really special day for our family. We all had a fantastic time.

I have been visiting my family for two months and felt warm and welcome from the very first visit. Today, twelve of us gathered for lunch in the celebration room for a diamond wedding anniversary for my sister-in-law's sister and her husband. After a celebratory prosecco in their room, we were escorted
to lunch by two staff - delicious tomato soup, roast beef and trimmings and an eton mess and coffee. Next, to the lounge for more coffee and a chat. We had a wonderful time and it enabled our resident relatives to enjoy a very special family occasion. I can't speak highly enough of all at The Hazelwell Care Home for their care and attention to residents and visitors.

My mum and dad came to The Hazelwell originally for a period of respite. The manager and staff made them feel very at home. They picked my mum up in their minibus so she could visit her room beforehand and offered lunch. Nothing was too much trouble. They let our big friendly dog in the home to visit
them. After four weeks, they wanted to stay permanently - my mum said 'what is not to like here!'.
The staff are very well trained, courteous and kind. They have a good relationship with the local GP surgery.
Like many care homes, there was no double room available but they now have adjacent rooms which is working out fine.
The home has lots of activities and has allowed the family to have their own celebrations there, like wedding anniversaries and birthdays!
Thank you, everyone, I can't recommend the home enough.

I recently visited my grandma for the first time since she became a resident at The Hazelwell Care Home. I was overjoyed to see how happy and settled she was in the few short months she had been at the home.
The care and commitment from all of the team from nursing/care staff to admin staff is exceptional.

Such a lovely care home. Very clean, staff are professional, yet so friendly. My mum had a severe stroke in January 2022 and since coming to the home

Our aunty was cared for at The Hazelwell Care Home in the last months of her life and we cannot thank the staff and management enough for the care and love they showed us all, not just our aunt.
We were made to feel as though we were part of the community rather than just visiting our relative.
The
home is gorgeous and feels more like a hotel than a care home. We can't recommend it enough.

My mum came to Hazelwell Care Home for nursing care. I am so incredibly grateful for the kindness that was shown both to my mum and also to myself and the whole family. She received wonderful compassionate nursing care. The home is like a beautiful hotel with many different sitting rooms and lovely
bedrooms, a lovely restaurant and daily activities. We had searched for a while and this exceeded expectations.

The staff at The Hazelwell Care Home cared for my father for the last three weeks of his life. His first week was difficult but then he got used to being there and the staff got used to him - there were quite a few agency staff. The nurses and carers were outstanding, ensuring he was comfortable and
given lots of support. The carers and well-being staff were also really supportive and kind to the family at this difficult time.

My Grandad has been in The Hazelwell Care Home now for a good few months. On his arrival, the management and care staff team were very friendly, and welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure my grandad felt safe and comfortable and that I and my family were reassured. The manager and care staff
team have been very consistent and knowledgeable about my grandad's health conditions and the care required to suit his specific needs. Communication with my family and other health professionals has been excellent. I have found the management very professional and approachable should I have any concerns I need to air. The whole staff team are very friendly and I can leave my grandad, knowing he will have had lots of activities to engage in, food that he has thoroughly enjoyed, a beautifully clean room and a lot of caring people around him. Thank you so much to all of you for all that you do! I will be forever grateful.

We are very unhappy with my friend's care. We still have no contract after seven months. She has not been out of bed for four weeks, initially because of a broken leg, but now because the hoist batteries are not recharging. The staff are leaving because they are unhappy with the management, as I am.
Requests to speak to the manager are almost always not followed through. Her nursing allowance has still not been processed after seven months.

Mum joined The Hazelwell Care Home about 3 weeks ago and the experience has been amazing. The initial meetings and discussions were handled with professionalism and compassion, but above all with a caring, friendly approach. The Hazelwell Team welcomed us all as a family and the move into her new home
was seamless. We were encouraged by the thoroughness of the team, ensuring that her health needs were immediately met, the efficiency in transferring her registered doctor's surgery and that she had the smoothest transition to her new life as possible. She has quickly settled and has embraced all the facilities and activities provided by the home, including the on-site hair salon, nail bar and chiropodist! She regularly tells me how lovely all the staff are and that they are always kind, polite and happy to have fun too! For our family, we are delighted with the care and attention Mum receives and are grateful to everyone at her home. Thank you to the whole team for looking after our wonderful Mum.

The staff were all very kind to my mum. She was well looked after, and her respite stay gave her the confidence to go back home. The home was very clean and secure. Although there was an outbreak of Covid during Mum's stay, I was still allowed in, which I really appreciated.

Simon

Simon Paul

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2022

Simon is the Home Manager at the Hazelwell Care Home and brings a wealth of experience having worked in healthcare for over twenty years having started as a Care Assistant in a nursing home. He then completed his nurse training and has worked across a variety of settings within the NHS for around 15 years; from surgical wards to intensive care, via theatre and then as a nurse specialist.


He then returned to care homes in 2019 and held roles of Deputy Manager and Home Manager before joining The Hazelwell. Simon is most passionate about delivering high-quality care whilst ensuring that the residents have an environment that is both homely and welcoming for their friends and families.

Theo Anum

Job Title: Clinical Lead

Joined: 2023

Theo is an enthusiastic and dedicated Acting Clinical Lead who has recently re-joined the team at The Hazelwell after a period of time working in a large care home in Liverpool.


Having started his nursing home career at The Hazelwell, Theo was keen to return to the home in a senior capacity and help shape the development of the home.

Job Title: Home Aministrator

Kiya is our Home Administrator and is the point of contact for all administrative tasks at the home.


She joined the home with a wealth of experience in business admin and started as our receptionist before being promoted within the home to Home Admin.

Job Title: Home Trainer and Senior Care Assistant

Joined: 2017

Helen has been with The Hazelwell since 2017, Helen works as a Senior Care Assistant and the Home Trainer role. Helen is responsible for inducting new team members into The Hazelwell and ensuring our team are trained and competent. Helen can be relied on to implement new training sessions and the staff really enjoy her training. During her spare time, Helen loves to spend time with her family and relaxing.

Graham Clarke

Job Title: Maintenance Manager

Joined: 2016

Graham has been our maintenance manager since 2016, Graham is responsible for all the maintenance within the home, ensuring our compliance and maintaining our lovely home for our residents. Graham goes over and above to make a difference to our residents’ homecoming on his days off and getting called out during the evening if things need fixing. I have been a chef for over 25 years, I started out as a trainee chef in a large hotel in the lake district working my way up to head chef and running the kitchen for 10 years before relocating to the Wirral where I worked at the devon doorway for 6 years working my way up to head chef for the last 12 months.


In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and young daughter and I also enjoy fishing and walking!
