Their specialist activities team are dedicated to making residents' lives as enjoyable and funfilled as possible. The home makes the activity plans person-centred to each individual. Here at The Fernes, they like to enjoy quality time with their families and they spend a lot of time organising social events like Cheese and Wine evenings, Quiz nights, Discos, BBQs and plenty more.

There is also a fully-equipped minibus with wheelchair access which ensures that they are able to go out regularly on short trips to the beach, zoo, museums and other local places of interest.

My wife has suffered from Parkinson’s disease For the last 20-years. We have managed her care at home for all of that time, but unfortunately, it eventually became impossible for me to manage her care at home on my own, and we had to make the dreaded decision of going into care.
If we had known five
years ago how well cared she would have been at The Fernes, I’m sure we would have happily made the decision much earlier.
Neither of us regrets the decision; she has a lovely room, fantastic staff, five-star meals, and her health has improved dramatically during the two months that she has been here
I cannot speak highly enough of all of the staff, the management and the entertainment manager, all of whom have demonstrated an amazing duty of care.
We consider ourselves to be most fortunate to be part of the “Ferne's community”, and we would like to say a big thank you to all of those who have made this major transition a happy and positive experience.

The Fernes have been really supportive during a very difficult period. Always friendly and available when we have any queries and concerns. The Fernes is spotlessly clean and more like a hotel and great atmosphere. There are activities including therapy dogs so always something going on. Memory Lane
is well set up for Alzheimer's clients.

Since my last review dad is still really happy and content. In his own words, he said "It's good here and they are all so kind". He can't wait for summer to get out and about and enjoy the lovely garden and surroundings. Its been difficult times and all staff maintained high standards.

It would be hard to find a fault. The care and friendliness are beyond belief. You have to experience it to believe it. You are here to be cared for! Nothing is too much bother you don't have to ask for anything because they have already got it covered.

Care was predominantly good, with some staff being excellent in the care, patience and understanding given. An initial incident when mum's walker fell on her leg when being moved to cause a deep gash still to heal properly after 3 months was careless and worrying. Mum regained significant weight, strength
and confidence in the care and has now returned home with dad.
The food is appalling, both parents have healthy appetites and given the cost of the home the quality is absolutely disgraceful. I welcome your response!

My aunt has settled really well at The Fernes. This is her second care home and she was very unhappy at the first home. The Fernes is a lovely home with everything bright and cheerful - especially the staff. I would recommend The Fernes to everyone.

My husband is a resident on Memory Lane. He has advanced Alzheimer's and with that comes advanced needs. He is still physically strong but has lost the ability to communicate verbally. The care teams have concentrated on getting to know and understand him and provide the most kind and attentive care
with patience and devotion. They are very professional and instil
trust for the family.

There are really no words to describe just how wonderful The Fernes Care Home actually is. My Mother-in-law has been a resident of the Fernes for several weeks now in all that time she has been treated with the upmost respect and the kindest of care. The support from the team has been fantastic throughout
from the very beginning and nothing has ever seemed to much trouble. The atmosphere on each visit is incredible, from the moment you are greeted at reception until the moment you leave and it’s so lovely to see her smiling and joining in laughing and joking with the staff. The care my Mother receives has been second to none and the carers are always so full of life and have really taken their time to get to know her.
My family and I feel comfort in knowing my Mother-in-law is safe, content and happy.

We moved out grandmother into The Fernes in March, we have made the right decision, as soon as we entered the home everyone was very welcoming. The care our grandmother has received has been exceptional. As a family, we are kept up to date with what's happening in the home. The entertainment is fabulous,
seems like there is never a dull moment. The food is good and lots of variety. We as a family feel like we have made the right decision and found her forever home.

Very professional staff and accommodation with excellent facilities. Mum was right at home straight away. A short period of illness was exceptionally well managed including rapid involvement of doctor and NHS facilities. The family kept very well informed and consulted for options and updates. Fully

I continue to be extremely impressed by the loyal and caring staff at The Fernes. My mum is in the best possible place and is thriving at The Fernes. We could not ask for more for mum as the team are so professional, kind, caring and ensure that all the residents are involved in the lovely activities

My sister lived at The Fernes for four and a half years and was always looked after as though she was one of their family. Sadly she died at the end of January. The staff had treated her extremely well and have always been caring to me and another sister. We would recommend The Fernes to anyone.

My mother was a resident of this wonderful home for three years. Although dementia made it impossible for her to carry on living at home, she was able to make the decision that this was somewhere she wanted to live. On first appearances, it seemed far more like a hotel than a Care home. Beautiful furnishings,
modern and spacious rooms, comfortable lounges, an elegant dining room, and gardens with views across the countryside. Activities and entertainment were plentiful but not forced on anyone. As Mum settled into her new life and sadly dementia took hold, this was when the amazing staff really excelled. The quality of care was exceptional, with several staff exceeding their required duties by offering love and support. And when the virus came on the scene in March 2020, they quickly and efficiently adopted protocols to keep the residents safe. My Mum died recently aged 96. Some of the staff I now consider as family, having taken my place during lockdown and in her final hours.

Hello, my name is Alina and I am General Manager at The Fernes Care Home. My team and I look forward to welcoming you into our home.


I have a background in HR, IT, and finance, but I decided to pursue a career in healthcare when I moved to the UK in 2015. My first experience with the residents I supported had a profound impact on me, and it changed my perspective on life. It made me realise the difference that good care and compassion can make in a person's life.


In my previous roles, I spent most of my time in an office, surrounded only by my computer, paperwork, and occasional phone calls. But in my current role, I take home with me the smiles, hugs, and happiness of the residents I care for. It is the greatest reward.


Since starting my career in healthcare, I have continued to develop my skills and knowledge. I have achieved Level 2 and Level 3 in Adult Care, a distinction in Dementia Care, and a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership of Health and Social Care Adults with distinction. I am an adaptable person with good business acumen and a positive attitude.


As a passionate healthcare professional, I am committed to leading my team in delivering outstanding care to our residents. I practice an open-door policy for residents, relatives, and staff, as they are at the heart of what we do at The Fernes.

Hi, my name is Hayley, I have worked in the care sector for 12 years now. I started at The Fernes in 2017 as a carer and through hard work and dedication, I'm now a senior carer on memory lane.
