At Thames View, staff are dedicated to providing the highest level of residential, nursing and dementia care for up to 78 elderly residents, including trial stays, short stays, convalescent care and long-term care for individuals or couples.

Thames View is a Grade II* listed building boasting many late 18th Century and early 19th Century interior features. Originally designed as a beautiful mansion, the magnificent property has grand interiors and spacious rooms. The home has been refurbished into a luxury care home with the highest quality finishes; upgraded and added to whilst retaining its former glory. The luxurious home is set in delightful surroundings in the heart of Thames Ditton, with beautiful views over the River Thames.

Residents are encouraged to bring important personal possessions to personalise their rooms and the home operates an open visiting policy, where residents and loved ones may visit at convenient times for them.

Their own dementia training means that staff are well equipped to meet the needs of residents living with dementia. From designing an engaging environment and planning relevant activities to creating meals that offer a much-improved dining experience for residents living with dementia or dysphagia, every aspect of care has been carefully thought through at Thames View.

A very close family friend has lived in Thames View for the past 18 months. The care she was given was excellent - warm, friendly and professional. We could not fault the home on any level, it is beautiful and very well maintained and the staff are incredible, so helpful and they treat their clients
and us the visitors with warmth and respect, always so welcoming. The range of entertainment is varied and inclusive and there are many other activities available. I would not hesitate to recommend Thames View, it is really a lovely place with a happy and comfortable environment.

I selected the Home of Compassion for my cousin by analysis of local care homes. My confidence was not misplaced. Its beautiful riverside location, characterful building, and the attitude of its staff are exemplary. In particular, the general manager, his deputy, and the activities manager have given
fantastic support throughout her residence. She got so engrossed in the wide range of interesting activities, she asked my family not to phone, or arrive to take her out in the afternoons, without making an appointment with her first, as she was so busy with them! Sadly, before Christmas, she became unwell, subsequently passing away in hospital. The staff could not have been more supportive since. We are looking forward to a memorial event for her at the Home in February. She made many new friends and the last year of her life has been very happy there. I would recommend this Home without any hesitation whatsoever to others seeking a caring environment for their relative.

There aren't enough words to describe how amazing The Home of Compassion was to my mum, where she spent the last two weeks of her life. Mum had mixed dementia, which deteriorated suddenly and rapidly whilst in hospital three weeks prior. We were so lucky that there was a room available and the home
was able to take her quickly. The home itself is stunning, and although Mum didn't leave her room it was a lovely environment for us, and Dad and I were looked after really well too. Mum's room was lovely and we were able to put pictures up and make it homely. As it was close to Christmas we put up a little tree and played Christmas carols on the radio. The team under the managers was amazing, and the dementia carers and nurses were all so kind, patient, and compassionate, with one carer even singing to her to encourage her to swallow. The last words Mum said to me was that she was happy, and that sums it up beautifully.

Mum's care at the Home of Compassion was excellent and her carers and medical staff attentive, considerate and friendly. Despite physical disabilities and a degree of dementia, Mum always said she was happy there and became a fixture with the staff, known, and now missed, by all. I was a regular visitor
and saw for myself how much she was valued as part of the community and how much she was appreciated and cared for.

Lovely room, very caring and helpful staff. The food was generally good with a choice but the suppers were sometimes disappointing; sprouts were always overcooked.
I rate the Home of Compassion very highly and if I need respite care in the future I would happily come again.

Stayed here after major heart surgery as I still felt I needed support after hospital discharge. The staff were extremely attentive and responsive - which gave great peace of mind - e.g. managing the medication routine, regularly checking in, etc.
Would recommend this site to anyone.

All of the staff my mother has contact with have been considerate, polite and caring. Nobody wants to go into care but the Home of Compassion has exceeded my mother's expectations.

My mother initially was at the home for respite care but then became a permanent resident in January 2023. Her two principal carers were great with Mum and she was very well looked after by the whole team. After contracting pneumonia and three weeks in hospital, Mum returned to her room for end-of-life
care but she responded to the attention given by the team and rallied briefly to have valuable time with me and my sister and her grandchildren. Thank you Home of Compassion.

We were very impressed and thankful to both the manager and deputy manager for facilitating our exit from hospital efficiently and as quickly as possible.
My husband was highly agitated and anxious and it was wonderful to be in the calm, quiet safety of the Home of Compassion.
They and all the staff
treated us with kindness and care and our respite stay of 2 weeks was very good.

My mother came to the Home of Compassion having suffered a severe stroke leaving her handicapped, very frail and confused. We were all expecting the worst with very little hope for any type of recovery.
A year later, my beloved mother is playing bridge once a week receiving guests for lunch and able
to continue with her normal routine.
That is due to the tremendous support, care and attention she receives on a daily basis from the Home of Compassion.

This was my first time as recently had a quadruple heart bypass and felt that additional post-operative recovery time was needed. The team were very helpful and provided me with a support to aid my recovery in an empathic, caring, and professional manner. The extracurricular activities were immensely
helpful and thoughtfully planned. My special dietary needs were catered for in a very proactive manner. Although there was a periodical change over of staff this in no way affected the care I received. I would like to take this opportunity of thanking each member of the team you really boosted my confidence.

My mother, she’s 93 next birthday, suffered two strokes last September and after eight weeks in two hospitals we moved her to the Home of Compassion. Her mobility is very restricted as a result of her strokes and hence we looked for a nursing home as opposed to just a care home. We looked at four establishments,
all reputable, and the Home of Compassion was head and shoulders above the other three.
Our criteria for selection were: 24 hour a day availability of qualified and experienced nurses, the availability of care staff, overall safety and security and the quality of the accommodation and facilities.
Our mother has now accepted that the quality and availability of attention she receives at the Home of Compassion could not be replicated in her own retirement flat and the Home of Compassion is now her new home.
The national shortage of good care staff is sometimes felt in the Home of Compassion, but I’m convinced if you lived around the Thames Ditton area, and looking for work in the care sector, the Home of Compassion would be first on the list to try.

I have had an excellent time here and am sorry to have lost my husband in September 2022. Having faced illness myself, caught covid plus two weeks very unwell in hospital. My three children have been wonderful but the support from the home for me and them has enabled us to cope with the loss of a husband/father
as well as domestic issues. The home is a wonderful place - unfailingly kind and considerate. Giving the resident privacy and dignity in the most intimate situations. There is nothing the staff would do without utter respect. This stay has given me strength to cope with my uncertain future. It is an expensive option but my children believe it is worth every pound. I have made friends with residents and staff and fully ready to move to the future.

Home of Compassion was all I could ever have hoped for for the final 4 months of my mother's life. Just after her 80th birthday, Mum was terribly sick when she was admitted to hospital last December. There, over the course of 10 days she was diagnosed with terminal cancer and we were desperate to get
her into a place of peace and comfort. It seemed impossible but in a Christmas miracle, Home of Compassion had a place available to move her in on the 24th.
In the weeks that followed, Mum rallied under the loving care of the staff from the home and supported by visits from an amazing nurse from the Hospice. She enjoyed weekly movie afternoons and daily sit-down exercise classes, a Chinese New Year dinner, the beautiful garden, lunch with friends. These weeks were such a blessing and a source of strength when she started to decline again.
In her final days, the care intensified. Everyone on staff was so very kind. I have tremendous gratitude for all that they have done.

Our mother has been at the Home of Compassion for 6 years now. Over that period we have seen plenty of change with the home and families having been through the worst situation with lockdowns and the pandemic. However, the most significant shift in the Home of Compassion is that it feels that it is
really embracing the idea of being a community, a real family and the best possible home away from home. Amazing inclusive activities, a lot of positive fun and energy and regular phone calls and feedback from the staff make all the difference. I know Mum is being cared for, stimulated and most of all, respected.

A fabulous Dickensian Christmas concert, which everyone could get involved in and enjoy. We sang, clapped, and danced with our hands, and loved the performances of the soloists and choir. The decor was imaginative and atmospheric. Many thanks and congratulations to everyone involved.

My aunt suffers from dementia therefore she cannot tell me in her own words how she feels about the home. However, she seems comfortable and content when I visit her. My main contacts are the manager and one of my aunt's carers. It was due to the manager who first met with my aunt and myself that made
the decision to move my aunt to the home. The manager is always available when I have any concerns. My aunt's carer is an excellent carer, very kind. She knows my aunt well and can always inform me of her well-being.

Job Title: General Manager

“As General Manager, I believe that our residents should be treated with the highest quality of care possible and endeavour to ensure that my team and I always maintain this, whilst making each day memorable. I lead by example and involve myself in the day-to-day life of our community as well as making Thames View a happy and enjoyable place in which to live and work.


I take a lot of pleasure from spending time with relatives and residents, understanding the important contribution that these relationships make to the successful running of our community.


I have worked in the hospitality sector my entire career and have had the opportunity to work and manage a large private hospital as well as amazing hotels. My previous experience means that I can therefore provide a service to our residents, families, guests, and colleagues, which is the highlight of my day.


At Thames View, we are one big family and everything we do is from the heart, delivering care with empathy and always being helpful to our residents and team for no other reason than to make a difference every day.
