At Thames View, staff are dedicated to providing the highest level of residential, nursing and dementia care for up to 78 elderly residents, including trial stays, short stays, convalescent care and long-term care for individuals or couples.

Thames View is a Grade II* listed building boasting many late 18th Century and early 19th Century interior features. Originally designed as a beautiful mansion, the magnificent property has grand interiors and spacious rooms. The home has been refurbished into a luxury care home with the highest quality finishes; upgraded and added to whilst retaining its former glory. The luxurious home is set in delightful surroundings in the heart of Thames Ditton, with beautiful views over the River Thames.

Residents are encouraged to bring important personal possessions to personalise their rooms and the home operates an open visiting policy, where residents and loved ones may visit at convenient times for them.

Their own dementia training means that staff are well equipped to meet the needs of residents living with dementia. From designing an engaging environment and planning relevant activities to creating meals that offer a much-improved dining experience for residents living with dementia or dysphagia, every aspect of care has been carefully thought through at Thames View.

I was confident that my father would be well looked after, as I had had two close friends, who had been resident at the Home of Compassion. Excellent staff all round and special thanks for accepting my father, at very short notice. I know he was very happy during his short visit and we'll have no hesitation
in booking him in again, should the need arise.

I have been very impressed with the quality of the daycare activities but particularly the initiative that has been underway with the choir. Singing has never been a strong family trait but it is magical to see just how much Mum, along with the other members of the choir enjoy and benefit from the experience.
The
concert they put on at the start of October was a joyous occasion for all who were there. It was wonderful that the event not only involved the singing but also the crafts and flower arranging that had taken place to transform the Bistro.
A massive well done to everyone who has worked so hard behind the scenes.

It was with a good deal of reluctance that my sisters and I made the decision that it was time for my elderly godmother to live in a care home. She had been having 24 hour care in her own flat overlooking the river and was happy.
However, looking ahead, we could see a time where her dementia and mobility
issues would make staying at home impossible.
We already knew The Home of Compassion, as my father spent the last few weeks of his life there, and we knew that my godmother would be really well cared for there. Our decision was purely based on her welfare, and the fact that there were trained medical staff on hand when needed. However, what I did not take into consideration was the vast range of activities to keep her body and mind active. I was able to join her on one such afternoon, where I saw first hand just how brilliant the girls who provide the activities are, and how much she benefitted from joining in. I really believe she is as happy as she could be.

Staff at all levels are excellent. Meals are very good. Activities excellent. Nursing staff are very caring and patient. There are no areas where I can see improvements needed. The only difficulty is being able to afford it. There are very few people who can afford it which means the sale of assets
(usually a house) to pay for the fees. Obviously, the provision of care at this level is expensive.

My mother is a resident at Home of Compassion - it is an amazing place and we feel very comfortable and confident with the care amd support she receives.
Recently the Home of Compassion hosted a choir recital by the residents. It was one of the best events I have attended. The choir master was brilliant
and the bond it created between residents, staff and relatives was wonderful. Mum hasn't stopped smiling since!

Following major surgery, I was made very welcome by all the staff and management team. All were unfailingly polite, caring, and keen to make sure that I had everything I needed to make my stay comfortable.
The food is of a very high quality, and the activities provided for the long-stay residents
are well planned and extremely wide ranging.
The building and the rooms are beautifully decorated, and the gardens with a wonderful view of the river lift the spirits and certainly help ones recovery.
I would recommend the Home of Compassion for anyone needing respite care.

A big thank you to all the staff at the Home of compassion. Thanks for the institution of weekly reports to the key relative, and monthly virtual resident and relative meetings with the manager and team. There has been timely communication & discussions whenever there are issues at other times, and
more recently they have provided/encouraged more diverse activities for the residents. One such recent example was the jubilee BBQ for relatives and residents last Saturday on the 28th. It was a lovely afternoon in the beautiful garden by the river Thames. There were happy faces, drinks, good food, music entertainment and they even ordered the sunshine. It certainly lifted my mother's mood.

The building is stunning. The care staff are fantastic and highly compassionate. Unfortunately, the staff turnover is huge, and when one asks why they are leaving it always seems to be salary-related with better pay somewhere else. The deputy head is an amazing woman and is always willing to bend over
backwards to help with everything. The food is good and the entertainment is really fantastic for the residents.
Unfortunately, this is being run as a profitable company with the management not concerned with keeping residents but increasing annual payments so high that they are now head and shoulders above other care homes offering the same level of care and facilities.
I was very sad to move my Dad after being there for 5 years but the monthly payments have just become ridiculous. There is an annual rate of increase to the payments, so the longer you stay the more you pay, but no discount for loyal residents, so it is now just a money-making venture.
To the care team, a huge thank you.

Our mum was treated with great care and attention and on the second day she was there she was diagnosed with an infection that needed hospital treatment and had been missed prior to her coming to the home.
All the staff have been very helpful, caring and cooperative, especially the nursing staff.

Following a serious fall and surgery to repair a fractured femur, it was recommended that my wife (71) who suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease should convalesce in a first class care home under the supervision of an appropriately experienced physiotherapist. Our enquiries suggested that the Home of Compassion
was such a place and we were proved right. A couple of months after becoming a temporary resident there, wheelchair bound and fearful of the very painful business of attempting to stand, yesterday she reluctantly bade the home a fully mobile farewell. Thanks to the encouragement and support of a superb team of carers, a talented physio, outstanding nurses and a vigilant management team, she found the motivation and determination to walk freely and independently without the aid of a walking stick or frame. The Home of Compassion employs very special people devoted to selflessly caring for others. Drawing on the best in themselves, they bring out the best in those they care for.

“As General Manager, I believe that our residents should be treated with the highest quality of care possible and endeavour to ensure that my team and I always maintain this, whilst making each day memorable. I lead by example and involve myself in the day-to-day life of our community as well as making Thames View a happy and enjoyable place in which to live and work.


I take a lot of pleasure from spending time with relatives and residents, understanding the important contribution that these relationships make to the successful running of our community.


I have worked in the hospitality sector my entire career and have had the opportunity to work and manage a large private hospital as well as amazing hotels. My previous experience means that I can therefore provide a service to our residents, families, guests, and colleagues, which is the highlight of my day.


At Thames View, we are one big family and everything we do is from the heart, delivering care with empathy and always being helpful to our residents and team for no other reason than to make a difference every day.


My biggest achievement is my family and I appreciate how supportive they are of what I do as I work away from home. It’s been lovely to see and explore Thames Ditton as the area is amazing and it is important that our home is part of our local community. I am a keen traveller, love cruising and holidaying, as well as countryside walks and am passionate about life, making every day count while making memories.”
