My grandmother stayed at Oulton Manor for some respite following a hip fracture whilst living independently. The home cared for her very well and she enjoyed much-needed R and R for the 4 weeks she stayed there. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for her or us as a family. Would recommend
Oulton Manor to all.

My mum has been in Oulton Manor since June 22, and I have had nothing but a positive experience. Mum is well cared for, her specific needs are met, and the staff are always willing to go the extra mile. Mum is on the dementia floor, and I am very impressed with the amount and variety of activities that
take place. Making the decision to move Mum into dementia care was hard, but the whole team made us feel confident and happy with our decision. Well done, team Oulton Manor; keep up the fantastic work.

My mother, who broke her hip and is registered blind, went to Oulton Manor for respite care. The care she received was top-rate. All the staff, from carers and ancillary staff, through to management were always friendly, polite, helpful and, above all, caring. My mother, who is very independent, settled
in really quickly, and it soon felt like home. It has a fantastic atmosphere with the feel of a hotel in the lounge and bar area. The activities they provided were fabulous and enjoyable - Mother loved the debates.
Although we were only there for four weeks, the care we received was amazing - allowing Mother to be both cared for and independent in equal measure.

My review relates to the dementia floor. My Mother in Law lived there for a year. These are some of the concerns I had in that time. A strong smell of urine due to furnishing is difficult to clean. The garden was not secure and dementia residents were not taken to use it. They locked the windows of
my mother in Law's room because she posted tissues/clothes out of them. Her toilet seat was removed because she smeared it. On one occasion I requested to speak to the nurse before for a medical intervention (we have LPA). My request was ignored and not recorded. One visit I had to ask twice for my Mother in Law to be given a drink because she was thirsty when I arrived (trying to get drips out of a cup with her finger). When she was admitted to the hospital (with dehydration and sepsis) the home gave me her clothes in a bin bag (she had an overnight bag in the room). Mother in Law needed three staff to support washing at Oulton Manor because she would lash out. In her current placement, they have seen no challenging behaviour. I wish we had moved her sooner.

We have previously responded to you regarding these. Sadly your loved ones care needs did change over time, which we discussed with you and involved appropriate health professionals to provide support. Your loved one was moved to nursing care, due to her requirement of needing the support of nursing and specialist care. We are sorry that you felt things could have been done differently but I would like to reassure you at all times we had your Mother in Law's best interests in mind and truly believed we were doing everything we could to provide support.

My dad had 2 weeks respite in Oulton Manor, he thoroughly enjoyed his stay and when we picked him up to take him home he looked a million dollars, we only wish for his sake he would stay permanently but he is too independent even at 90 years old.
Many thanks to the manager who is the most caring person
not only to my dad but to his family as well. I would also like to mention the carer who looked after my dad she is worth her weight in gold, and my dad has said what a wonderful lady she is caring for all his needs. These are just the people we know but I would like to thank everyone in that home you are all amazing!

My Dad experienced a very difficult time over Christmas with depression, anxiety and confusion. It became apparent until we managed to steady his mental state he couldn't live alone.
After viewing a number of homes I chose Oulton Manor. From walking in the doors, speaking to the staff, viewing the
facilities I was very impressed. The decor is very tasteful whilst being a relaxing environment. Extremely clean and all the staff members, even though they are busy in these challenging times, stop to chat and are very helpful.
My Dad is making a good recovery and is due to go home soon. This is partly thanks to Oulton Manor and their team. They have truly made a difference and really do care about their residents.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Oulton Manor.

When we found ourselves at a difficult crossroads in my sisters health needs, the team at Oulton Manor were very helpful. On the initial enquiry, the manager responded to concerns in a sensitive manner whilst providing clear information about the care home and how my sister would be supported. On admission,
other members of staff welcomed my sister with kind words and a friendly manner making every effort to making her feel happy and settled.
The care staff are always willing to take the time to talk about my sister’s care needs and make any changes they feel are possible to support her health and well - being. Rooms are kept very clean and meals are plentiful and varied.

I cannot thank Oulton Manor enough on behalf of my mothers whole family.
She is nearing 95 quite a stubborn lady with her strong character opinions.
Countless times asked due to her extremely limited mobility not to walk with zimmer frame alone, to always request help from a carer.
She's always had
a bee in her bonnet that she must have clothes out ready for the morning. (Many times told by carers they will bring clothes for her to pick)
She fell cutting her head Sunday 2nd January after lunch, an ambulance was called.
3 members of staff went above and beyond their remit.
To which I am very grateful.
I believe senior carer, liaised with me for all updates.
The staff member who checked her every half hour, during the night, after having xrays and MRI scan. Most of all I think the young carer, she never left my injured and frightened Mum's side over 4 hours awaiting ambulance.
Thank you Oulton Manor I always knew you gave that extra other establishments would not be able to give.

My mum moved in to Oulton Manor in October and received a very warm welcome from all the staff. It was a very difficult decision for me and my sister but the team at Oulton Manor made the process as easy as they could and we feel so lucky to have secured a place for our mum there. All the staff are
lovely and caring and nothing is too much trouble. All aspects of her care have been discussed with us all her care needs have been met allowing mum to maintain some independence and dignity. Thank you Oulton Manor!

My 89-year-old mum with Parkinson's stayed for a month’s respite. She was well looked after. Whilst we had some minor concerns, these were brought to the attention of the management and were speedily dealt with.
Having collected my mum, we have spoken to the manager and mentioned some specific issues
(meal times, application of medication, access to rooms, shower), explanations were given for these issues.
My mum is looking forward to her return visit.

Lisa Owens

Job Title: Manager

Joined: 2022

Hi, my name is Lisa and I have worked for Anchor for 15 years but have worked in the health and social care sector for 25 years.


Before becoming the manager at Oulton Manor in December 2022, I worked at Millfield care home in Manchester. During the 14 years I was there, I progressed from team leader to home manager and lead the home successfully for 4 years.


I am very passionate about elderly care and believe everybody deserves quality living. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time hiking, wild swimming and travelling.


I am really looking forward to steering our home forward to achieve its best potential and delivering excellent care to all those who choose to live at Oulton Manor.

I've worked in the care sector for over 16 years and have been an employee at Oulton Manor for nearly 9 years. I started out as a care assistant working my way to team leader and I am now the hospitality manager. The thing I enjoy the most is spending time with the residents and their relatives. I've even been labelled as "the best bar man in the world" by one of the wonderful people who live here.


Outside of work I enjoy travelling and going to the gym. I am an avid Everton supporter and recently slept out at Goodison Park to raise money and awareness of the homeless.
