Poor reception service, often doesn’t exist. Phone doesn’t answer and even when you book an appointment and arrive on time to visit the resident, it’s like they don’t know you’re coming. I’ve waited in the lobby for 15 mins today waiting for someone to answer the door, I had to phone in to get any attention
then wait a bit longer. Reception staff needed at a desk on the weekend, it is very frustrating. What’s the point in booking a slot to then be 20 minutes waiting to see the family member. Very poor service makes visits difficult. Please improve.

My stepmother has been at the home for over three years. She is very happy there. The staff are extremely kind to her, and I know she is safe and well looked after. Many thanks to all the staff, particularly Calverley Wing, for all their help, kindness and support over the years.

Mum has only been in the home for 2-weeks, but I am impressed by the care taken by all the staff to settle her in and to help her adjust to her new home. From our first visit to see what the home was like, we have been impressed by the friendliness of all the staff and their willingness to answer all
our questions and provide us with all the information, we needed about fees, care and meals etc. The home is very well furnished and is more like a hotel with lovely lounges and dining rooms on each floor that are spacious and look lovely with tablecloths etc. The rooms are nicely furnished, and each one has a beautiful ensuite shower room. Everyone at Oulton Manor has been helpful since Mum moved in, providing her with a phone and making sure her TV worked properly etc. It is great to see that she is lovely and clean and well looked after.

The accommodation and grounds are hotel standard, a fabulous large lounge with bar. Lovely dining room with tablecloths and material napkins. Residents are treated with dignity and care. These last 14-months have been awful, but I have been relieved to know that he was being well looked after. Lots
of the staff have been there since he moved in, and they have been like his second family. They genuinely care and support him and have helped him retain his dignity and independence as much as possible. Always helpful, and ring to update if Dad is unwell. Excellent nursing care (district nurse) and local doctors, who regularly visit. Grounds colourfully all year.

Our mother has been a resident at Oulton Manor for over 3 years and during that time her care has been exceptional especially during the last 12 covid related months. By having a qualified nurse leading the team and a weekly home check by the nurse prescriber we know medical problems are dealt with
quickly. Again keeping regular staff give us confidence that residents' personalities are understood and we know that the home is always looking at ways to make the day to day living of the residents as comfortable as possible.

I can’t praise Oulton Manor enough for the care, support and friendship they have shown for my father who moved in with them in the middle of the pandemic. He suffers from Dementia and to know he is safe and well looked after is such a comfort to us. The staff go above and beyond, they are wonderful!

The most important comment is that Mum is very happy at Oulton Manor. She is well cared for and the staff are great but she is an independent-minded person and this is still respected. The peace of mind this gives us as a family is very important. I would add that the home has handled the coronavirus
situation well with access maintained despite the necessary restrictions. I think communication with family could be more structured to include perhaps an annual review meeting with the manager to discuss concerns, care plan, future needs but given the change of management and pandemic, this isn't feasible at the moment. General communication with staff is very good and I want to make a special mention to a team member on Rockingham who is a real asset to the home and to social care - friendly, professional and caring.

My mum has been in Oulton Manor since it opened. Her care there has been wonderful. After viewing many care homes, I cried coming out of so many as I couldn't imagine leaving Mum there. When I went into Oulton Manor, I was blown away. It was like nothing I had ever seen and Mum has been incredibly well
looked after the whole time she has been there. She has dementia and has had some difficult times, but the staff have been wonderful. If ever there have been any issues, the manager's door has always been open and things have been changed and altered to make Mum's life easier and more comfortable. The decor and rooms are amazing, the food is varied and good and the entertainment is varied. The staff really do care. They are quick to get in touch to pass on feedback and send photographs by email, they offer Skype calls and their dedication during the current pandemic has been incredible. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home.

Oulton Manor is a smart and well-kept home. The entrance is welcoming and the lounge is a comfortable place for residents and visitors, when allowed access. During lockdown the staff have worked tirelessly to keep everyone safe. Relatives have been kept up to date with all government changes and the
daily routines in the home. I think the residents are feeling the strain as time goes on as obviously the staff have to put the stringent rules to which leaves less time for interaction. Hopefully, things will improve and everyone can relax a bit more.

My mother-in-law chose Oulton Manor as her permanent residence following a respite visit earlier in 2019. Settling took time as she is a very independent person but the staff have helped tremendously to help her settle and to reassure us, her family that she is ok. Staff have time to talk and appear
to know the resident's strengths and weaknesses, but they do promote independence as well.
The staff work very hard in ‘normal circumstances‘ but they have worked tirelessly to keep the residents and staff safe and well throughout the covid pandemic. They have achieved this so far, and it is thanks to the management as well as her team, that their covid free status remains, long may it continue.
Email communication has been very good between the home and relatives to keep us informed of important and relevant information.
Thanks to everyone at Oulton Manor for all you do and for being our loved one's family when we can’t be with them.

Covid has been a huge challenge for everyone but I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff for everything they are doing to keep my Mum and the other residents safe and happy. I really appreciate the weekly newsletters, it makes me smile to see everything my Mum and the other residents are
doing - when we ask her on the phone she doesn’t always remember to tell us, so it is great to have the photos to prompt our conversations! My Mum recently answered the phone singing and told me she had forgotten how to be miserable which is a remarkable achievement by the home. Yesterday I was able to see my Mum for a 30-minute window visit, she looked extremely well and was in high spirits which was wonderfully reassuring. I am so glad my Mum is being cared for in Oulton Manor and I cannot praise the home and staff enough. Thank you.

In October 2016 we had huge problems with the care home in which my Mum had been a resident for 15 months. We made arrangements to visit Oulton Manor with a view to moving Mum into their care. This was the best move we could have made. Due to Mum's illness, she has not been the easiest of residents
but, all the staff over the last three and a half years have been tolerant, caring and understanding. Lately Mum has deteriorated and during a very difficult time for all concerned, we could not have had better care for her. Three members of staff in particular have been amazing and I am sure the manager is very proud of all her staff. It has not been easy for them at all.

In a few days, as a consequence of a surprise, serious, medical diagnosis, of a family member, the manager and staff at Oulton Manor enabled me to arrange residential care for our mother. Communication and response time with the manager was excellent and rapid. Oulton Manor is close to where mum lives
and so friends visit her, which is a great help. My travel time to Oulton Manor is many hours drive; the manager and staff have been a great support. Within a couple of days, my mother had settled, was content and comfortable. The environment of Oulton Manor is friendly and stimulating. Cheerful and caring, the staff involve mum in the many daily and varied activities. As a family, we are indebted to the manager and staff at Oulton Manor for the care and support provided. Mum is clearly benefitting, physically and mentally from being resident at Oulton Manor.

Lisa Owens

Job Title: Manager

Hi, my name is Lisa and I have worked for Anchor for 15 years but have worked in the health and social care sector for 25 years.


Before becoming the manager at Oulton Manor in December 2022, I worked at Millfield care home in Manchester. During the 14 years I was there, I progressed from team leader to home manager and lead the home successfully for 4 years.


I am very passionate about elderly care and believe everybody deserves quality living. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time hiking, wild swimming and travelling.


I am really looking forward to steering our home forward to achieve its best potential and delivering excellent care to all those who choose to live at Oulton Manor.

I've worked in the care sector for over 16 years and have been an employee at Oulton Manor for nearly 9 years. I started out as a care assistant working my way to team leader and I am now the hospitality manager. The thing I enjoy the most is spending time with the residents and their relatives. I've even been labelled as "the best bar man in the world" by one of the wonderful people who live here.


Outside of work I enjoy travelling and going to the gym. I am an avid Everton supporter and recently slept out at Goodison Park to raise money and awareness of the homeless.
