The Marbrook is a specialist provider of complex nursing services. It delivers 24-hour nursing and therapy for adults with complex and long term conditions, which include:

Its building benefits from ensuite wet rooms to all bedrooms, nine rehabilitation kitchens, a large rehab gym and a two-bed transition training flat, to enable patients and their carers the space to learn the skills to get them home.

After being diagnosed with SSG, my walking had degenerated to an awkward shuffle, which I could only manage for about 5 yards and I used a wheelchair. My quality of life was diminishing daily so I decided to book myself in for a few weeks.
It has been exhausting but brilliant. The intensive neurophysiotherapy
and OT course (designed specifically for my needs and goals) has been remarkably effective and was delivered by a team of highly professional and friendly therapists. My strength and functional ability have developed hugely.
The care provided has been first class with all the carers being friendly and helpful. The management/office staff have also been cheerful, helpful and friendly. So much so, that when I was feeling down due to something or other, a kind lady took the time to make me a coffee and have a natter, during which I discovered that she was the General Manager!
The whole centre is well resourced, kept impeccably clean and the rooms are very comfortable and quiet.

Marbrook have made my stay here very enjoyable!
The rooms are very comfortable and spacious and the staff are always kind and willing to help. The food is prepared to a high standard and there is always plenty.
Visitors are made to feel at home including children and there are always free hot drinks
and cakes and sometimes free ice creams! A care home with a very nice relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Although my husband only spent three weeks in the Marbrook clinic we felt the care provided was exemplary. The staff were efficient and nurturing, making the whole family feel looked after as well as the actual patient. I would recommend this facility which in terms of 'personal touch' and quality of

I Came to the Marbrook Centre after having a brain aneurysm whilst swimming. I experienced a severe headache whilst swimming and collapsed. I awoke sometime later at the Marbrook. I had received surgery at hospital then was moved to the Marbrook Centre.
At Marbrook I received excellent care. The staff
are dedicated and friendly. I left in April able to walk and talk.

The care I have received here at Marbrook was exceptional. The care staff were all welcoming, caring and attentive and the physio/occupational therapy teams are absolutely brilliant and helping me to meet and exceed my goal plan way ahead of the expected dates. I came here with a wheelchair and 3 weeks
and 3 days later I am walking out of here without one. Thank you so much Marbrook for the excellent staff and the wonderful quality environment in which I have been able to complete my rehab.

Unfortunately, my husband's therapy was interrupted after 4 and a half weeks due to him being transferred to hosptial with pneumonia and he did not return to The Marbrook Centre.
Because of his inability to communicate (due to the stroke he suffered, leaving him with severe cognitive impairment), I
am not able to give a rating on food, as he could not express his opinion and I wasn't present at mealtimes. This also applies to activities.
I found the staff to be extremely pleasant and also very informative on the therapy that my husband was receiving.

Very clean and always tidy. Respectful of personal needs. Nice food, good food options. I would rather have white bread in the evenings instead of just brown. Lovely visiting areas, great cakes. Review night time checks as the patient didn't think he required it. The garden is beautiful.

The care my dad received was brilliant. The receptionist always greeting you with a smile. The carers always using my dad's name. Nothing was any trouble for the carers. Dad was treated with respect and kindness as an individual. Everyone, including cleaners/laundry was very friendly. The physios, occupational
therapist and their assistant, along with speech therapists are miracle workers. So encouraging, patient and respectful. The only slight area for improvement - nurses and their communication.

I love my job! In a nutshell, I am here to look after everyone and to ensure Team Marbrook has the best tools to do their jobs. So, what are these tools? Well, in the toolbox is good training and support, a nice environment, the best equipment, clear leadership and the remaining space in the toolbox is filled with care and compassion.


I’m a nurse by training, albeit a moderately old one, having qualified in 1985! Since I qualified I have followed the management, rather than the clinical path. I also spent 5 years as a care home inspector in the 90s where I saw the good, the bad and the ugliest of care services!


So, back to why I love my job. I see people every day who have experienced life changing injuries and health challenges. They and their families are truly extraordinary people; their strength, optimism and motivation to be the best they possibly can be, is an amazing thing to share in. This is a constant reminder to me to make every day count, value what I have and not to complain or worry about things I don’t! The icing on the cake is to witness Team Marbrook supporting people on these difficult and challenging journeys with such care and compassion. I am one happy bunny.
