The Marbrook is a specialist provider of complex nursing services. It delivers 24-hour nursing and therapy for adults with complex and long term conditions, which include:

•        Acquired and traumatic brain injury

Its ethos is competence, choice and compassion; providing the best care for people living with life-changing conditions.

Its building benefits from ensuite wet rooms to all bedrooms, nine rehabilitation kitchens, a large rehab gym and a two-bed transition training flat, to enable patients and their carers the space to learn the skills to get them home.

The Marbrook Centre is a lovely place and we are fortunate to have been offered a place there. All the staff are friendly and helpful and the building is spacious and comfortable.
It was especially helpful to us that dogs were welcome to visit. The only reason that my husband asked to be discharged
early was that communal living was making him too anxious.

After arriving in the back of an ambulance and with only very limited movement on my right side, the staff welcomed me and started straight away making me comfortable. In the six weeks I stayed nothing was too much trouble for everyone dealing with my rehabilitation. The three meals a day are excellent
and facilities are custom made for residents. I couldn't have been anywhere better or expected the progress the therapists generated in such a short time. I wish everyone could be as lucky as I have been referred to The Marbrook Centre.
I am now back home after being in hospitals for nearly five months.

Wonderful care home for my male friend after his stroke. His philosophy was excellent and staff he has got on with them well, they have worked miracles with his bad stroke. God bless them all for what they have done.

My mother was at Marbrook during January and February 2018. She lost capacity to talk or read or reason.
The staff at Marbrook were fantastic, attending to her every need at all times.
Nothing appeared too much trouble, even baking a huge cake for her birthday.
This must be the finest rehab centre
in the country.
I visited daily at all different times and I would like to state that all staff were amazing.
Very many thanks - and unreservedly recommended.

My experience has been great. Staff are friendly, always greet family and friends with a smile and go the extra mile to provide a good service. At times understaffed carer wise, however, the staff do a fantastic job even though at times re rushed off their feet. Food is lush, compliments to chef: Need
to diet now.

My husband went into The Marbrook Centre in July on a respite basis. From the moment I walked into this bright and airy building and met the welcoming admissions team, I felt very reassured. The caring staff upstairs in The Mayfield Suite where my husband stayed were excellent. They worked together
as a team supporting the residents in every way. Lots of smiles and interaction taking place in an environment which can be testing at times. Very special people doing a very special job. I highly recommend.

I was referred to Marbrook following 4 months in the hospital. During this time I experienced various level of paralysis and was being hoisted towards the end.
I arrived at Marbrook unable to walk unaided, through the support, encouragement, help and dedication of all the staff I was able to home
4 weeks later, fully independent.
In addition, the surroundings and atmosphere at Marbrook are fully conducive to recovery and rehabilitation, being calm, restful, attractive and peaceful.

The Marbrook Centre is a purpose built facility that ticks all the boxes. What makes the centre special are its staff and the philosophy of residents first, a family of committed, positive staff with "can do" attitude throughout the organisation. Nothing is too much trouble, requests are dealt with
promptly and staff are eager to learn, to help, to adapt to individual needs. From reception staff, carers, therapy staff, kitchen and housekeeping/laundry as well as referrals and management are a team who care. Thank you to all.

The Marbrook Centre provides the most up to date occupational and physio therapy that you could wish for. If you are motivated and willing to improve your well-being then the team will help you all the way to achieve the goals that you have set together.
In the three weeks that I have been here so
far, I have learnt how to transfer myself in and out of bed from my wheelchair, wash 95% of myself each morning and almost dress myself unaided. Every day that you achieved the smallest improvement gives you more motivation for the next day, encouraged all the ways by the whole Marbrook team. With two paralysed legs I believe I can achieve anything here.

The experience my husband and I have had at the Marbrook Centre has been amazing and life-enhancing.
All the staff are kind, courteous, friendly and very supportive and this includes the cleaners, the laundry staff, the carers especially so. The therapists are excellent and the management very responsive.
My husband has been taught to develop and manage his body and limbs following an acute stroke.
I have been transformed from a very nervous and anxious caregiver to someone who has been trained how to care and who now feel confident in their ability to manage their husband and all the attendant equipment. Now I look forward to him coming home.

This home is on a par with expensive hotels with the exception that all the staff deal with residents with absolute care, love and professionalism. In my opinion, my wife could not be in a better home for rehabilitation. I would never hesitate to heartily recommend it.

I love my job! In a nutshell, I am here to look after everyone and to ensure Team Marbrook has the best tools to do their jobs. So, what are these tools? Well, in the toolbox is good training and support, a nice environment, the best equipment, clear leadership and the remaining space in the toolbox is filled with care and compassion.


I’m a nurse by training, albeit a moderately old one, having qualified in 1985! Since I qualified I have followed the management, rather than the clinical path. I also spent 5 years as a care home inspector in the 90s where I saw the good, the bad and the ugliest of care services!


So, back to why I love my job. I see people every day who have experienced life changing injuries and health challenges. They and their families are truly extraordinary people; their strength, optimism and motivation to be the best they possibly can be, is an amazing thing to share in. This is a constant reminder to me to make every day count, value what I have and not to complain or worry about things I don’t! The icing on the cake is to witness Team Marbrook supporting people on these difficult and challenging journeys with such care and compassion. I am one happy bunny.
