Kiwi House Care Home is a family-run, award-winning care home providing luxury quality care in Alvaston, Derby.

A friendly, well-trained team ensures high standards of residential and dementia care in a comfortable, caring and compassionate environment.

Resident happiness and well-being is at the heart of the home and dedicated activity coordinators provide a daily fun, engaging and stimulating social programme designed to encourage residents to lead a fulfilled, happy and enriched life.

In the dementia care suites, residents have access to sensory areas, reminiscence activities and memory boxes. With its own minibus, residents frequently get out and about on day trips to places of local interest.

Exceptional facilities include spacious en-suite bedrooms, a cinema, a corner shop, a traditional pub and hair salon.

Mum has been in Kiwi House Care Home for just over three years. During that time, she has been very happy and healthy. Mum enjoys the living arrangements and particularly the food! It is the staff that make Kiwi House a home; they treat Mum with kindness and as a person who needs some support and understanding.
The staff have got to know Mum and her family and this makes life a lot easier for all of us. Today was Mum's 90th birthday. The birthday arrangements made by the staff were fabulous and it felt like a very special day, thank you.

Both of my parents went into Kiwi House for 2 weeks respite care. Both in their 90s, my father was struggling to look after my mother with her increasing dementia, and several medical issues. My father is also severely disabled. The decision to try the home was done in a hurry, but the home accepted
my parents in a very warm and welcoming manner. The staff were absolutely excellent; very caring and cheerful. My parents report that attention to the call buttons was always very quick, the meals were excellent, and the facilities marvellous. Unfortunately, the second week of their stay was marred by an infection of covid into the home, and the floor they were on had to be isolated from the rest! The care taken by the staff to try and prevent the infection from spreading was extremely good, although it did mean of course that visiting was suspended ... quite correctly. My parents are full of praise for Kiwi House.

I walked into the care home and it looked luxurious. The staff were friendly and the residents seemed well looked after. The home seemed well managed and every staff member had a smile on their face. 5 stars.

My mother needed urgent care, Kiwi House responded immediately and my mother took up residence within a couple of days of her assessment. All the staff are extremely friendly and caring making her transition into her new home really straightforward, the facilities are excellent and she is really enjoying
the varied activity program.

Mum has been a resident at Kiwi House since 2018. We spent a long time visiting a number of homes that had been recommended to us before we decided on Kiwi House.
Despite the difficulties of Covid, the staff all coped remarkably well.
We remain convinced that we made the right decision and despite
Mum getting worse with the symptoms of Alzheimer's, they continue to alter the requirements to enable Mum to be comfortable and cared for.
I would recommend Kiwi to everyone.

My mum has been in respite care these last two weeks, Kiwi House is the exact care home you'd wish for for your relative, however, there were a few minor issues which was a shame.
1) No offer of refreshment (cup of tea) after breakfast.
2) Bed was not made every day.
3) Sandwiches at tea time (server
unsure of content) - 'flag' to indicate?

My grandma came to Kiwi for 4 weeks of respite in June 2022. We were extremely happy with the care she received during her stay. There was also an abundance of activities for her to get involved in and she attended at least one activity every day. She thoroughly enjoyed the summer fayre and cinema afternoons.
She loved getting her hair done in the salon as well as getting her nails painted. We are now looking at a permanent placement for her at Kiwi, as we were very happy and she made friends there.

After needing immediate temporary care for my mum, we found Kiwi Care Home on a website. After a quick call, Mum was assessed the same day by a member of staff, and got a place the next day after they had created her care plan. She came weighing less than 7 stone. After 6 weeks of their loving care
she now looks healthy and, in fact, loves it so much that she now wants to stay permanently. The rooms are lovely with en suite and kept clean. The staff are outstanding here and the interaction is welcomed by clients. Food is lovely and Mum's now put weight on again.


Two issues I have are that it was advertised as having physiotherapy available which Mum desperately needs and was a huge factor in my decision to choose Kiwi, however, after 6 weeks we’re still waiting. I’ve recently found out this is via referral and not on-site. Second is the spa bath, in the photos as a selling point, no one uses it as there seems to be no staff trained to use it.

I placed my mother and father in this beautiful care home, they had a wonderful time after struggling and just coping at home. This place had it all and you do not need to worry as they received excellent care, healthy meals, support in all areas for their mental well-being, and medication reviews.
Fabulous Xmases and New Years and top knotch entertainment, beautiful rooms and areas to go to ie pub, gardens, hair dresses etc. And most of all, credit to all staff, their dedication is second to none. Nothing was ever too much trouble. So I would recommend this truly wonderful home. Thank you Kiwi House for all that you did for my parents.

In my opinion, finding a good care home for a family member is difficult. Thank goodness we found Kiwi House. From the moment we entered the building, we knew it would be perfect for my mother-in-law. This place is an absolute gem. The standard of care is outstanding, and nothing is too much trouble.
This is evident in the improvement in my relative's health and well-being.

I was really struggling to find a care home for my relative. Other homes promised home visits or to get the manager to call me, but no one ever did. On emailing Kiwi House, within 2 hours the manager was giving me a call and arranging a viewing. We have been so impressed with the welcome we received,
the cleanliness and the quality of the food. The moving in process went really smoothly and as a family we are so pleased we chose Kiwi House.

My father went into Kiwi House for respite care over Christmas. From the start to the finish the staff were caring, friendly and supportive of our and my father's needs. He was pretty much spoilt and he loved it.
We had no idea how he would get on and we were very nervous that he would want to come
home, he never asked. I spoke to a member of staff daily and got updates on his day and spoke to my father each night. He had a full day of activities and enjoyed the food. The staff are truly amazing and we are very grateful that my mother could have a rest from caring for my father. Highly recommend.
