I'm enjoying my stay at Ty Llandaff Care Home. Everywhere is clean and tidy. The food is first-class and I'm, at last, getting my appetite back. Staff are all friendly and I enjoy time chatting to them. My stay, as a respite guest, has been a very pleasant experience and it's done me good. I feel more
myself thanks to the interaction as well as the lovely care and attention I have received.

We knew as a family when we reached out to Ty Llandaff that we had found the perfect home for our dad. The warm friendly and helpful manager, the smiling reception team, the helpful and knowledgeable office manager and the bright and friendly care staff made the move for our dad a pleasure. We have
enjoyed a luxurious meal made by the chef and it was quite simply delicious. We enjoyed watching a guest singer which was enjoyed by everyone. We can relax and Dad is enjoying making great new friendships.

I was recommended this home as being one of the best ones in Cardiff. My family and I have certainly not been disappointed. It is so comforting to know our mum is being given the highest possible care. She is gaining her strength and mental health back and this is due to the perfect environment, excellent
staff and first-class menu - delicious! My mum has enjoyed the walking experience and is gradually gaining her independence. We are all, including our mum, extremely glad she is with you. Thank you.

It's beautifully decorated and very clean and well-maintained. Food is varied and Mum's appetite has returned. She's enjoying eating in the dining room and chatting with other patients and staff. She's enjoyed the activities and socialising as she likes company. The family appreciate that she's being
encouraged to bathe and make good use of all facilities. Thank you for taking such good care of her.

Thank you to all the staff at Ty Llandaff Care Home for organising a romantic lunch for Mum and Dad earlier this week to celebrate their 69th Wedding Anniversary. Dad said the food was fabulous and the room had been beautifully decorated for their meal. When I asked if Dad could join Mum for lunch I
didn't expect anything like this. So much thought and care was put into the day. Thank you again for making their special day so lovely.

My mother has been at Ty Llandaf since February. I cannot thank the dedicated staff and management enough for the care and kindness they have shown my mother. She has settled so well and made new close friends. The new appointed activities person has brought a new life to the home, and my mother can’t
wait for an outing in the minibus soon. The staff always have time to listen to relatives even when they are so busy. My mother loves going to the home salon to have her weekly blow dry and manicure, and feels like a million dollars; she looks so well cared for. All I can say is I am very grateful to all the team at Ty Llandaf, especially the staff that continues to look after my mother and has stayed faithful to the home and residents.

My mum has been a resident at Ty Llandaff for over a year now and although the move was understandably difficult at first, the staff worked tirelessly to make her feel at ease. She enjoys participating in all the activities, particularly music events and we have had the recent pleasure of joining my
mum for a meal with her whole family. Covid was a tough time for the whole care industry and there were some inevitable bad effects but throughout, there have been some key members of staff who have continued to provide excellent care for my mum. My mum is safe, healthy and above all else, very happy so we are very happy that we chose Ty Llandaff.

Mum has been in care at Ty Llandaff for the last twelve weeks. May I say I cannot thank the staff and management enough for the care and kindness they have shown to Mum. When she was accepted into Ty Llandaff, she was only given a matter of weeks to live. Thanks to the staff, she is still with us and
believe me, they do go the extra mile for all their residents. All I can say is I am very grateful to all the management and especially the staff that look after Mum.

Through recommendation, our Mother has been at Ty LLandaff since the 3rd May, she initially went in for respite, she is now a permanent resident and this is something we thought we would never have to do. Due to the excellent care and support Mum has received from housekeeping, carers, maintenance and
office staff we decided this was the best place for her. At first, Mum was reluctant to sit with other residents when there was any entertainment going on, but now after having a little bit of gentle persuasion she is now happy to join in and is seen singing along. Anybody visiting the home is greeted by friendly receptionists who are always happy to help with any queries. Tea/smile often offered. Mum's brother visited recently who she hasn’t seen for 2 years due to Covid etc, this was a surprise for her. The staff couldn’t do enough. Lunch was laid on for 4 in the celebration room and they all had a fabulous time. Mum is happy and relaxed, the best we have seen her in a long time. So thank you.

My sister initially went to the home for a few weeks respite in May, after coming out of hospital. Having had the last of three strokes, her three daughters, with the aid of carers, had tried to give her 24/7 care but this had started to impact on her daughters' health, so after looking around at several
care homes and a recommendation, all four of them visited Ty Llandaff, which after the visit, all four thought it would be suitable. Now eight-plus weeks later, she is still at the home, looking and feeling much better (her words). This is mainly from having the 24/7 professional care she needs and where her daughters, my elder brother and myself and my wife know she is safe. For our own part, my wife and I have found all the staff at Ty Llandaff to be courteous and very helpful and would be more than happy to recommend Ty Llandaff care home to anyone.

My friend moved into Ty Llandaff Care Home a few weeks ago and all I have is praise for the hard working, dedicated team. From the housekeeping team to the care team! They know my friend on a personal level and treat her as part of their family. As I have joined her for lunch there, I know that the
food is delicious and well presented. She has been able to personalise her bedroom by bringing some of her own furniture which has made her moving into Ty Llandaff Care Home a lot easier. She loves spending time in the cinema watching films and very much enjoys the entertainment the home organises. She initially only moved into the home for a few weeks, but has enjoyed it so much that she has decided to stay!

My grandad was a resident at Ty Llandaff Care Home for three years, with the first six months of care being fantastic. The staff really looked after him and would know very early on if he was becoming unwell (he was prone to aspiration). For the last two and a half years, the staff turnover was extremely
high with a lot of agency use - this would mean they did not know my grandad and his triggers for illness, subsequently putting my grandad in a dangerously unwell state more than a handful of times. Yes, the facilities are nice, the building is modern and the rooms are too, with the use of a cinema, etc, but all of that means nothing if residents with more complex levels of care are stuck in their rooms. Myself/Sister were frequent visitors and our hearts would break seeing him in the state he was left in at times. In my opinion, the quality and standard of care fell well below what I would expect for any vulnerable elderly adult, let alone for our loved one.

Such a fantastic home for my Aunty! I am not able to visit often due to me living so far away but I visited last year and attended an outdoor tea party for residents and their families and I visited again this week and I couldn’t be happier with how my Aunty is treated and the care and facilities for
her. The staff are amazing and nothing is ever too much trouble and they truly care, communication is good and the management are always accessible and happy to answer any questions, even the senior and area manager who I had the pleasure of meeting as they were pouring tea for the residents at the tea party. It feels like every member of staff, no matter what level, class the residents as family and it’s so nice to see. The home is spotless and the food looks amazing and my Aunty is always full of praise for the staff, who look happy too. I drive home from here feeling happy because I can see how happy and content my Aunty is and this hasn’t always been the case with other care homes.

Due to the recent hard work of the new manager, supported by the staff, the standard and discipline in the home have improved dramatically, across the board. The staff now seem happier and the general aura in the home has now improved noticeably. The food has improved of late and my mum likes the new

My mum was transferred Ty Llandaff for the final two weeks of her life, as the local hospice were not able to provide care for her. Though Mum was only there for a short time, we were so pleased she was there. As it was end-of-life care we were able to visit her at any time we wanted and in between
times could call any time for an update on how she was. Due to her dementia, Mum was frequently confused and distressed, which sometimes led to challenging behaviours. As a family, we were all in awe of the compassion and patience the staff showed her. Ty Llandaff is a lovely place; the room was spacious and comfortable and the food (little of it though she ate) was lovely. (The little touches, such as bringing tea in a pot, with cups and saucers, made all the difference.) However, it was the staff that made the biggest difference to Mum's final days. Every single person was so kind and caring. We are so grateful. We will never forget them.

My grandad was a resident at Ty Llandaff Care Home for three years. This came to an abrupt end in June 2021 after the quality of care had decreased to a point where it was dangerous for him to be a resident. High turnover of staff, care plans not followed and high-risk residents were put at risk regularly
- this was acknowledged by the management team in place. Facilities such as the cinema and gym are great but sadly are hardly used by residents, particularly those who need more complex levels of care. Often, less mobile residents are left in their rooms and not encouraged to take place in activities. As stated already, the facilities are good but overall the quality of care delivered falls way below the standard one would expect for their loved one.

I have worked in the care industry for over 30 years and have extensive experience across the sector. My career to date has been working with local authorities, charity and the private sector, in residential and Nursing Home settings, Day Services and Supported Living. It has been a privilege to care for our elderly and I have had the pleasure of a lifetime of stories and memories in my journey.


I strive for excellence, my door is always open, the values of the Care Concern Group and what I am committed to delivering, care of the highest standard, the basic principles of care I very much respect, and dignity is of the highest priority.


I am a very passionate carer, and endeavour to drive quality in the service for those in our care, with the combined support from staff, families, local authority commissioning teams, health care professionals and regulators.

Sue is an avid reader of any genre except horror and loves to spend time with her four beautiful dogs. In her spare time, she enjoys going away with her partner in their caravan all around the country – her favourite places are Ceredigion and Cornwall.

My name is James Newing, I have over twenty years of catering experience.


I trained at the Celtic Manor resort gaining my qualifications in NVQ 1,2,3 and 4. I worked my way up to the level of Sous chef during my time and helped cater for such events as the NATO summit and Ryder cup.


I took on my first head chef role for Brains working at the Ty Mawr in Lisvane for two years.


I left then to become a Catering Manager at St Joseph’s Hospital in Newport.


I then became Head chef of Pentwyn house care home in Marshfield until I became Head chef here at Ty Llandaff.
I’m very passionate about food and have taken on an allotment which I and my young children enjoy spending time at, it’s very important for me to teach them to respect food and know where it comes from and how it is grown.


I find my work at Ty Llandaff very rewarding and it’s a pleasure to provide healthy, nutritious meals for the residents.
