All I have to say is everyone who has dealt with my dad has been extremely friendly, pleasant and polite and treated him like a prince 10/10 for everything.

On arrival, we were met by friendly staff who took us to the room and offered their assistance with settling my husband into his accommodation which included en-suite facilities which included a wet room. I was happy to leave him in their care. The food varied and well balanced. There are activities
every day. My husband was in for respite and I am re-booking he is quite happy to go into care again.

This care home shines like a new pin, but the resident care is lacking. The activities are very poorly run - one "activity" is reading extracts from the newspaper to the residents. The residents are never taken out and the "chauffeur driven car" is for use only if one of the staff with a driving licence
is available to drive it and there is any petrol in it. All requests are met grudgingly. The website advertises a minibus. We have not seen a minibus in over a year's residence at the home, and if one exists, it is never used and well hidden. Activities include having hair and nails done. The staff are good but there aren't enough of them. Basically, the residents are bored to death and don't receive targeted care. We have never properly sat down with the management to set out a care plan.

Excellent care. As my husband's dementia increases, so do the way he is looked after. I go every day and have never seen one of the nurses, carers or kitchen staff be anything but kind and gentle with everyone - including me.

My father stayed in the Porterbrook for 3 weeks. The website claimed the staff were highly experienced in caring for residents with dementia and that there were secure landscape gardens.
During his stay Dad was not allowed outside as there were not enough staff on duty. The staff we met were very pleasant
but not experienced or organised in the more challenging aspects of dementia. They were trying to control him rather than manage his needs. There are no gardens and nowhere secure to go outside. Activities were limited, there were no trips out or visits to local establishments. Dad was asked to leave as he couldn’t adjust to being locked in.

The website claimed that the home was highly experienced in dealing with dementia, but our experience was that it was very limited and detrimental to our father's well being. Limited staff and limited activities.

Was greeted warmly on my arrival from hospital after a knee replacement.

My mother moved into Porterbrook Care Home in Sheffield just before Christmas 2016. She is a different person now and has thrived in the excellent environment of the care home and with the care provided by staff and management. It's a new care home and there is clearly time available for the staff to
spend with the residents - as there aren't many yet - but I'm sure the level of care will continue when it's full capacity.

My mother moved to The Porterbrook from another care home before Christmas.
The home is newly decorated and fitted, the standard of décor and furniture is very good and my mother appreciates all the lovely pictures, ornaments and furniture.
Her room is tastefully and comfortably furnished with an
excellent bathroom.
We are extremely happy with the standard of care, the staff and management. My mother is extremely settled.

Lynne

Lynne Cannell

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2021

Lynne brings a wealth of experience to her role as Home Manager at The Porterbrook.
Having completed her nurse training at Sheffield University, she worked in a number of hospitals across a variety of wards, including general surgical and cardiology before pursuing her passion of caring for the elderly in care home settings.
Lynne, has worked in care homes in Sheffield and Rotherham and is privileged and honoured to now be leading The Porterbrook Care Home team and to be providing the highest possible care for all the residents.


Laura

Laura Liversidge

Job Title: Office Manager

Joined: 2016

Laura worked as Housekeeper at the Porterbrook since it opened in 2016.
Laura has gained a multitude of experience and qualifications whilst working at the Porterbrook, including an NVQ level 3 in hospitality and leadership.
In March 2022, Laura made the decision to move away from the housekeeper role and took on the role of Office Manager. Laura can always be found at the heart of the Porterbrook. She prides herself in ensuring all our visitors; relatives, friends and professionals receive a warm Porterbrook welcome whether it be on the phone or in person.
