My Mum moved into Baycroft in March 2021. From the very first day she was shown love and care and everything that she needed was there for her. Every time I see her she tells me how lucky she is and what wonderful care she receives. She feels completely safe in this warm and friendly environment.
The staff all give their time to the residents, stopping for a chat or helping them if they need it. As a daughter, I can know that she is well cared for in beautiful surroundings and this gives me peace of mind. There is always someone there to answer any questions I may have and anything that Baycroft feel the relatives need to know is communicated well. This is a care home with an emphasis on the word CARE.

As well as entering her end of life journey, my mother needed to spend some time in hospital. When she was very poorly, each time I visited her there were care staff with her when I arrived, talking to her, holding her hand, and helping her with her food and drink. The warmth they showed to her and
to me was truly moving. Following her return from 10 days in hospital, she was much better so did not receive so much attention. However, all the staff - reception, hospitality, management, as well as, of course, the care staff all know her and me and are really interested in her progress - showing real pleasure when she is better. She has had her 97th birthday in isolation following her hospital visit and is looking forward to being allowed out of her room. We know that her end of life is on the way, but feel very secure that she will be very looked after all the way on her journey and will be encouraged to make the most of the time that she has.

My mum has been a resident for just over two years. She is 94 years young and has flourished since her arrival. The restrictions during these strange Covid times have been difficult for us all. However, I do feel the staff generally have been as supportive as possible. Any concerns arising have been
dealt with in a timely and sensitive manner. My mum attends all the activities made available to her. I appreciate the events timetable and newsletter, which allows me to remind and chat to Mum about them. I look forward to the increase of external entertainers again. She enjoys the menu and company in the restaurant: her weight loss is cured! She says how kind everyone is to her, which is invaluable for her family in these restricted times. I am able to observe this too from the interaction when at the home. We all as a family eagerly await the easier flow of visiting again, but appreciating the safety of residents must be a priority.

This is a wonderful home. All staff from the receptionist to the care manager and assistants are polite and friendly and my Mum is receiving an excellent standard of care.
When she moved to the home for nursing care one month ago she was weak and withdrawn and she is now embracing everything the home
has to offer including the wonderful meals.
She does activities every day and has the opportunity to have her hair done regularly which she loves.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this home.

Baycroft Great Baddow team made moving Mum and Dad into the home very easy despite the Covid-19 lockdown. The care and attention that they both have received from all members of staff from senior management, to the care team and to the admin team have been excellent. They are both settling in really
well and have made new friends, are enjoying the residents' activities that have now restarted and especially love the food and the chance to talk to the chef about what they like to eat. Mum even said that she felt young again given the pampering she gets. From my perspective I have found the staff very responsive, nothing is too much bother and I have received regular updates on what is happening and any concerns that arise. I feel that Mum and Dad are being safely looked after and are being treated with dignity. I also appreciate the link that the home has with the local GP surgery and the fact that they can actually see a doctor on a regular basis.

My father joined Baycroft after being very ill and enduring a traumatic hospital stay with us unable to visit due to Covid. As a family, we decided that having lived independently beforehand that he was in need of more support with his day-to-day living. He was very weak when he joined Baycroft but
the care and attention he has received whilst there by the caring staff who never fail to inform us promptly of any changes to his health, he is now enjoying taking part in activities daily and always has a story to tell when we ring/visit him. We are always informed of the delicious meals that he has and enjoys and loves the company of all the carers. The hard work is so much appreciated and the support they give us as a family is second to none and a joy to communicate with on a very regular basis.

Even after only a short time, Mum has settled in well and feels secure that the staff know how to look after her special nursing needs. Baycroft has exceeded my expectations in the way all members of staff have dealt with the family from the initial enquiry to ongoing calls as Mum settles in. I feel
able to contact the care home with any queries and they are promptly and politely dealt with. This has helped in what has been a difficult and stressful time for Mum and her family.

They made moving my father into a care home during Covid as stress-free as it could be.
Communication with the home has been fantastic. Every member of staff that I have so far seen have gone out of their way to help me and my father in any way possible. Even though it’s early days (Dad has only moved
in this week after losing his wife in February). It was so lovely to hear him saying that he was very happy with the room and the food was brilliant.

The care and attention that Mum has received whilst being in Baycroft have been excellent. Since moving to Baycroft, mum has been treated with nothing less than courtesy and kindness. The care team, nurses and entertainment team are amazing and treat her with consideration at all times. Facilities and surroundings are excellent and the staff are supportive of family members as well as residents.
No query or question re her care is dismissed as trivial or annoying.

The staff at this care home have always been friendly and helpful. Since my mother became a resident in 2018, I can only praise the home and the staff therein. At the time she became a resident, the home had newly opened and she was only one of a handful of residents. The care and love she has received, has been second to none. Care and attention was always a priority
as the home grew, which was deliberately slow over a period of time to ensure the happiness of the residents already in-situ and those joining the community. Some, but not all, of the staff have been at the home from the start, which has meant a continuity of care throughout her decline. Accommodation and food are both excellent - a particular favourite (which all the staff know) is the occasional bacon sandwich!
Would highly recommend the home to anyone who has a relative, who during their latter years, requires help and assistance.

I would highly recommend Baycroft, due to the fact that the staff are very warm and welcoming, professional, diligent, caring and communication is outstanding.
COVID-19 has resulted in an extremely stressful and difficult time, however, the staff at Baycroft have managed the situation with tremendous
professionalism and genuine care for my mum and my sister and I have been well informed of what has been occurring within the home at all times.
I have had very regular contact with one of Mum's carers in particular and this contact has been both reassuring and supportive during this very difficult time.
Facetime was easily arranged and as Mum has a phone in her room we have been able to keep in good contact.
I cannot thank the staff at Baycroft enough for all that they have done.

I started my career straight away after leaving school in 1991, working in various prestigious establishments.


In 2001 I decided to return to college and study patisserie. I worked in a few famous establishments including Harrods, where I received 'The Chairman Award For Excellence' during my role as head of pastry in the Georgian restaurant.


I founded my own company in 2007 that supplied high-quality desserts and gateaux across central Essex. I won the award of 'New Small Business' from the 'Mid Essex Business Awards' in 2009.


I left my patisserie in 2014 to spend more time with my 3 children. I am now with Great Baddow to continue producing a standard of excellence.

Colin Mace

Job Title: Lifestyle and Well-being Coordinator

Joined: 2018

I joined Great Baddow over 5 years ago as one of the initial intakes of staff for the home.


During the first 6 months after opening, I spent a lot of time working downstairs, but as the home filled up with residents, I found myself working more and more in the kitchen where I was originally employed.


I've always found it easy to build relationships with the residents, have always loved having a laugh and a joke but also a serious and in-depth conversation when required. I believe in treating people as individuals, centring my interaction and relationships with them accordingly.


I enjoy both group and individual activities and catering to both the wants and needs of the residents. I believe I am a good communicator but I also can listen. This may be my first official role in the capacity of an activity coordinator, but I do have many years of experience interacting and communicating with people from a wide range of social backgrounds.

Hi, my name is Lisa and I’m one of the Receptionists at Great Baddow. I spent many years working as an administrator, but when two of my daughters got diagnosed with a serious medical condition, I had to spend a lot of time helping out in their school and also had to work from home.


After a few years, I realised I missed working with others.


So earlier this year I joined Great Baddow as a Receptionist. I love that every day is different and I enjoy chatting with all the residents and their families and friends. It’s great being part of the lovely team, knowing we are all doing our best to care for the residents and make them happy.
