We have all been really happy with the care provided at Leah Lodge. My stepdad settled in quickly, and is very fond of the staff, telling us how well they look after him. He has really enjoyed some of the activities, and the activities staff are outstanding. The care is very good and staff are quick
to communicate any concerns. He says the food is great, and it's nice to have the cafe area to sit and talk when we visit. It has been a huge relief to know that he is safe and well cared for. I could never have imagined someone so fiercely independent would be happy in a care home, but it has suited him remarkably well.

Management and all the team at Leah Lodge provided our family with exceptional support when we needed it the most. I moved into Leah Lodge 10 weeks ago; it is now my permanent home. Before I came, I was well supported by the publicity and recruitment staff, who patiently answered my many questions as worked through a life-changing decision.
My experience of living here has been very good. All staff know me and
address me by name at all times. Help is available at the touch of a button, and it is given cheerfully and willingly; there is an excellent balance between any support needed and respect and encouragement of my independence. The activities coordinators work hard to maintain our social skills through varied and imaginative projects, including frequent opportunities to go further afield in the minibus.
As for the comfort and maintenance of good health, menus are varied and interesting, beds are wide and comfortable, rooms are well furnished, and there is ready access to the doctor who visits the home every week.

Leah Lodge is a well run, caring place for people with dementia. The staff are professional but kind and friendly with the residents, who are given plenty of agency over decisions. It fosters a good environment, with plenty of activities and things for the residents to do. This is the fourth home that
my mother has been in (this happened more by accident that because we're difficult!), so I have a good understanding of how care homes work, and it is definitely the best, from the settling in process to the day-to-day lived experience.

I always thought putting a relative in a care home was the last thing I should do until a friend became a permanent resident in Leigh Lodge. It's such a happy and caring home, somewhere I'd enjoy living myself. The carers know all the friends and relatives of the residents. The relatives know each other's
mothers and fathers. It's like being part of a large family. The relatives meetings a time to connect over a glass and nibbles. The pizza, curry and fish and chip nights for the relatives an opportunity to chat with each other and the staff. The managers, senior carers and the lady who runs the activities.
My dogs are always welcome and enjoyed by the residents.
The staff have an extremely difficult job, which they manage calmly. There is often much laughter and fun, dancing and singing.
Leigh Lodge is always thinking up new ways to improve the lives of their residents. It's exciting to be involved in their plans and to be asked for our ideas.

Leah Lodge provide a high level of personal care. All staff from housekeeping to reception are helpful and friendly. My father is happy there, enjoying the food and company of the other residents and staff who have taken time to get to know him and will always have a chat.

Leah Lodge was the obvious choice for Mum when she needed residential care as my mother-in-law had lived there previously for several years and been very well looked after. Mum has been there for over 18 months now and is very happy. She settled in straight away so the transition was much easier than
I expected. I think it is due to the warmth and friendliness of all the carers who convey a great deal of compassion and kindness mixed with good humour and fun. Overall it is a very welcoming and friendly place which I believe sets it apart from other homes.

My mother has now been at Leah Lodge for just over 9 months having moved in just before Xmas last year after suffering a stroke. She took quite a few months to settle in but is now happy and doing lots of the activities offered (the activities co-ordinator is exceptional). The food is good with wine
offered at meal times. Staffing is also good. The main thing about Leah Lodge is that as soon as you walk in you don't feel like it's a typical care home setting as the reception area and cafe is very welcoming and friendly. The rooms and communal areas are also very personal and comforting. To conclude I feel Mum is safe and well cared for.

My uncle has lived at Leah Lodge for a few years now and they are fantastic. He is very happy and considers it his home. It is a blessing to know he is cared for and the staff are great! My mum has been in Leah Lodge since mid-December last year. We chose the home because it was near to my sister and we liked the cosy atmosphere. It took my Mum a little time to settle in because it was such a big change from her previous life but she has adapted well and appreciates many things about
the home, including the enthusiastic activities team; many kind staff; and the nice places to sit out in the courtyard, garden and lobby/cafe area. She gets many visitors and we appreciate the ability to make ourselves tea and coffee in the cafe. There are often parties and events - my sister and husband accompanied my mother to the summer fete up the road at the sister home. I attended the Wimbledon strawberries and cream party and have been out with her and other residents on several trips to the pub! We also appreciated the kindness and flexibility shown by a staff member who recently ensured she did not have a long wait for hospital transport home by going to collect her on the local bus.

September has been a trying time for my father-in-law, he fell in the night presumably on the way to his bathroom, and cracked two of his ribs. His pain and physical discomfort were compounded by his dementia and very poor memory.
However, the response from Leah Lodge was excellent. They called an
ambulance promptly and accompanied him to the hospital, where I joined him. The staff were clearly concerned about his health and were proactive in getting him the pain relief he needed while recovering in the home. They carried out a thorough investigation and made a number of recommendations, which will be implemented to help prevent a similar fall from happening again.
Their communication with us was prompt, clear and comprehensive and I would just like to say a big thank you to all who have been involved. My father-in-law has made a speedy recovery, which is remarkable as he is 94 years old, and I believe that this is primarily due to the high quality of care that he has received.

Our uncle has been at Leah Lodge for 5 years and from the moment he went there he has been very happy. The staff are so friendly and kind and he receives fantastic care and support. All the family are made to feel welcome and we could not have wished for a happier place for him to spend these years.
He has absolutely thrived there, sometimes he likes to join in the activities and sometimes he doesn't and this is always respected. The accommodation and food are excellent and we are continuously updated on activities, and special events, and always get feedback after routine visits by the doctor, we feel very informed on his health and wellbeing. We have absolute peace of mind he is being well cared for at Leah Lodge and we appreciate so much that every member of staff goes the extra mile to make his life happy.

Leah Lodge is a small residential and dementia care facility located on a quiet street on the Blackheath and Lewisham border in South East London with easy access and parking for visitors and hospital transport.
The care is exemplary. The food is excellent and drinks and snacks are available 24/7.
Residents and their visitors use elegant cafe facilities and exquisite garden areas which are beautifully maintained. Housekeeping teams ensure the highest standards of hygiene, a professional laundry service and impeccable levels of cleanliness.
Most important for residents at Leah Lodge and their families are the staff. A kind, professional team at every level, with many years of collective experience of elderly care, tend to our precious family members and give us, as far as possible, peace of mind.
Regular social activities engage and stimulate. The loss of independence, so painful for our loved ones, can be a safe, joyful, sociable and loving stage of their lives here at Leah Lodge.

Really nice caring home with a lovely friendly atmosphere. They have done wonders with my mum completely improving her physical and mental health. More like a hotel than a care home and it's right on my doorstep and there are no visiting hours you can visit your loved one whenever you want.

My dad stayed in Leah Lodge between January and April 2024 for respite care following a stroke.
The staff here are wonderful and kind, it was an ideal place for his recovery. Dad's consultant said recently that she thinks the excellent respite care at Leah Lodge made a huge difference to his recovery
and the outcome we have now.
Having Dad so well looked after and so local to us made a huge difference to our whole family. We were always welcomed at Leah Lodge with huge kindness and warmth and I felt confident that he was being cared for very well.

Mum has been at Leah Lodge for nearly 2 years now, and overall we are very pleased that we chose Leah Lodge (from the 9 care homes we looked at) - it is a small building, which has its pluses and minuses, but we love the homely and friendly feel it has, partly as a result of it's size. Mum's dementia
has, sadly, been steadily getting worse and, in the last few weeks, we have had to deal with particularly difficult changes involving loss of mobility, eating problems and extra health issues, all of which the excellent staff have handled with great care and professionalism. The superb care she has received has made it so much better to bear as a family and, more importantly, Mum remains happy and content for most of the time - the fact that Mum has been able to stay at Leah throughout her challenging journey is a big positive for us. Also, the communication with the family from the senior care staff, and their attentiveness to Mum's changing condition, has been excellent.

We love Leah Lodge! It's like being part of a big extended family. From the moment, they 'thought outside the box' and took our Dad in with just two hours notice, with a member of staff coming to Queen Elizabeth to do his assessment to bringing Dad back to life and then helping us through our mum's
sudden death, they have been nothing short of wonderful. We go in every day to see our Dad and everyone is always there, ready with a smile and a chat. The staff and carers are so human and care deeply about the residents and their families. The lodge itself is cosy, clean and calm and the gardens and courtyards are really beautiful. Plus there's always coffee, homemade sausage rolls and fairy cakes in the cafe for residents and visitors. Leah Lodge will have a special place in our hearts forever.

Group meeting with senior management regarding dissatisfaction of customer service on many issues. Meeting was managed appallingly, staff were aggressive and bullying ethos towards relatives. Several attendees cried or walked out. Attendees interrupted each other and managers berated relatives for raising
their voices when upset. No care or concern shown towards relatives. Relatives told that if they were not happy, "Then why is your loved one still living here?" Management didn't listen to relatives and were unsympathetic and did not seem willing to change. Residents viewed as 'profit' not human beings.

What I do:
I am the General Manager of Rectory Court, as such I have the overall responsibility of the home with the support from my team. My role can vary from day to day and no two days are ever the same.


My experience:
I have been working in the care industry for over 30 years, starting as a care assistant, then going back to further education to become a manager first for Suffolk County Council and then into the private sector. I have a passion for Dementia care and hold an advanced Dementia training qualification in addition I have a Dementia mapping qualification which I undertook with Bradford University.


About me:
I am 55 and have been married for over 30 years to Adrian a teacher, I have two sons Tim and Tom both currently studying at university. I am a highly competitive person who likes to succeed. I love to shop and find a bargain!

I have been a Registered Nurse for 29 years with varied experience in elderly care, which covers Clinical Nursing in a 300-bed hospital, Occupational Nursing, Private Nursing and Nurse Manager roles.

What I Do:


I’m Home Admissions Advisor for both Leah Lodge and Rectory Court. I started with Cinnamon in 2019 and more recently I am part-time due to having two small children at home.


I help families and potential residents through their journey of considering a care home for their loved ones.


I consider it a privilege to be able to advise people on such a difficult and emotional journey.


My Experience:


I have worked in care now for 7 years and my role is a varied and enjoyable one. Previous to this I was an estate agent, working in different roles around the property for the majority of my career.


About Me:


I am originally from the Wirral and I moved to London with my husband in 2015 due to a promotion for him. We now have a 4-year-old son and a 2-year-old daughter who keep us busy most of the time. We enjoy going on holiday and socialising with friends whenever we get the chance.

I am overjoyed to be part of the Leah Lodge team. I am really excited to watch this home be successful and most of all see the residents be delivered excellent care and live in the luxury accommodation we offer.


Being part of the team from the beginning gives me great pleasure in getting to know the residents and their families and show the pride and passion we hope to deliver to Leah Lodge at all times.


My working background has been working within the care industry for just over 4 and half years now having varied roles. These range from working in the Support Office delivering general support to the homes when they were under pressure, completing payrolls, purchase ledger, sales and finance. Whilst completing these varied roles the best part is being out visiting the homes, helping the employees and mainly caring for the residents which is what brings me to work as an administrator at Leah Lodge.

I have over 12 years’ experience in a care home environment and before that in 4-5 star hotels.


Myself and my highly-experienced team, are really enjoying making sure that very high standards are maintained, so that residents, visitors and staff have a clean, safe, welcoming environment to live in, visit and work.

What I Do:
I’m the head chef here at Leah Lodge I started as a 2nd chef at Rectory Court and was delighted to become Head Chef; my role now is to work closely with my team and all our residents to provide a nutritional and healthy menu with the odd treat. I liaise with our residents to find out their likes and dislikes and provide an alternative meal of their choice if they wish. Me and my team will always aim to please and provide a good dining experience.


My Experience:
I have 6 years of experience working in catering and have enjoyed every moment, learning new things all the time. I have a BETEC level 2 in hospitality and catering and an NVQ level 2 in kitchen services and food safety.


About Me:
When I’m not working I spend time with my three sons and visiting my family, I like socialising with my friends and having a good meal out with somebody else cooking.
