This is a lovely home. My mum has been in Oak Springs Care Home three years now and the staff are so lovely and caring. Also, the seniors on maple suite are absolutely amazing. All staff do a wonderful job in difficult circumstances. Despite the fact they are so busy, every member of staff on the suite
will stop to speak to you and let you know how your relative is doing.
They could do with more staff but I know this is the position across the whole sector.
Management are very approachable and will always take the time to talk to you if required. I have had no hesitation in recommending this home to friends whose parents needed care.

My mum has been here for 12 months. It took her a few weeks to settle in, but the care and attention she received helped her to settle in. The care staff are dedicated to caring for the residents. My mum is really enjoying the activities and is doing lots of things she would never have done. I would
highly recommend Oak Springs to families who are looking for care for a loved one.

It is lovely that Mum has settled in so quickly. Oak Springs Care Home and its staff and its staff are lovely and this was apparent from my first visit.
There is a lovely, caring, friendly and loving atmosphere at the home.
Mum now lives in the moment and it seems that all her moments are now spent
in a lovely caring environment.

We have been delighted with the care and support for my Father who was admitted just short of two years ago to Oak Springs. My father suffered from Alzheimer's and passed away earlier this month.
During the time at Oak Springs he was well cared for with real affection and enjoyed the engagement with
the great team there. As family we were always well received to visit whilst attention was payed to the necessary health precautions in this era of Covid. I believe the team at Oak Springs made the last two difficult years of myFather's life as comfortable and enjoyable as was possible. we are very grateful.

We have been delighted with the performance of Oak Springs Care Home and the staff. My relative is 95 years old and has been a resident for 3 + years she speaks highly of the staff and the care she receives. My experience is that they have gone out of their way to support and communicate throughout
the pandemic, minimising the impact on my relative and creating innovative ways we can be together. The consistency of staff has allowed her and our family to build ongoing relationships with the key workers. The staff are caring and thoughtful, hardworking and attentive, while the management of the home is first class. There is an ongoing programme of activities which provides mental stimulation and allowed for creative expression. This is a flagship home for what the future of care should look like.

My father received the most attentive and excellent palliative care - the staff (especially one staff member on days and one staff member on nights) were so kind and considerate - not only to my Dad but to me and my family. Dad's needs were all met and addressed to the highest standards - he always
looked so peaceful and serene. The staff were a great comfort and support, nothing was too much trouble to them and Dad's care was exceptional at this very sad time. Thank you for all being so wonderful.

I cannot praise the staff at Oak Springs highly enough. Everyone I delay with in connection with my aunt treated us in a professional but helpful and kind manner, and this includes management and reception staff. My highest praise, however, must go to all the staff onWillow Suite who cared for my aunt
so brilliantly, especially during the last 18 months when she was bedbound and had such limited communication. It wasn't just her personal care but her emotional care - despite her difficulties, they always tried to interact with her and always respected her. What a wonderful example of a first-class care team! Thank you!

My Mum has been a resident for one and a half years and is so happy there.
She has settled into a routine with everyone else and she has opportunities to go out, have fun days with other residents and engage in outdoor persuits with staff and friends.
We are very happy with the level of care and
the staff support us as a family.
The facilities are amazing. She has access to a garden, hairdresser and a laundry service. Mum has a TV/DVD installed so she can watch movies in her room with other residents. Thank you so much for the care you give Mum and us as a family.
We visit when we want and have parties.
The food is varied and freshly prepared and Mum can have her own food from the supermarket, brought in when we visit.
Thank you for her trips to the park, Blackpool lights, fish and chip food trips with her friends.
Thank you to the management, nurses, doctors, cleaners and receptionist for all the information and updates on Mum’s affairs and the daily care Mum receives.

Fantastic care home! My Grandma is so happy here and it's lovely to visit her and see her interacting with Staff and Other residents. The activities are well organised and thought out of the box, not just your typical bingo. The management are outstanding and that shows through the Staff Members, everyone
treats the residents as though they are their own family members, it doesn't feel like a typical care home, more like a home from home.
The rooms are decorated beautifully, and everywhere is kept really clean. The outside area is amazing, and they often host events outside and invite family members along. The food is of high quality and my Grandma really enjoys them. I cant thank the staff and Management enough during the pandemic, which must have been an extremely difficult and stressful time for them. On the days I am unable to visit, I am kept informed by social media, and it's a lovely touch to see photos of what my Grandma has been up to that day. High recommended!

My father joined Oak Springs Care Home in July 2021, obviously a difficult time for everyone due to the Covid pandemic/restrictions. Initially, we found the care inconsistent for the first few months. I would telephone to ask that my father be washed/shaved/dressed every day, a reasonable family request.
He was often in bed, probably too much as he has a catheter and requires movement to support/aid the bladder. Eventually, we have seen an improvement in his personal care. I still do have to request that he is in his chair, presentable for his visits. We are seeing a marked improvement now. Thank you.

My mum was a resident at Oak Springs for nearly four years. During that time while the care she received from individual staff members was often great, it seemed to us that the management consistently put profit above compassion when dealing with the residents. Though my mum was one of the longest-staying
residents she could not remember ever having a chat with the management team or them showing any interest in her welfare. Indeed on a couple of occasions, it appeared to us that her welfare was of far lower priority than keeping up appearances.
When Mum died in August 2021 in her room at Oak Springs, no one from management contacted us until we ourselves wrote the following week to ask for more information about her death.
We would like to thank some of the individual carers who looked after Mum, but the management ethos needs to fundamentally change before Oak Springs will feel like a home.

I can assure you that this was never the case, our residents are and will always be our priority. I recall several meetings with members of your family when the home became a residential setting, I recall assisting your mum and her family in remaining a resident at Oak Springs. The pandemic has unfortunately not allowed management to have face-to-face contact with families as we like, however, we have ensured that families have been updated on a weekly basis by the manager/deputy manager via email and social media.
Both myself and the staff at Oak Springs spend lots of time engaging with our residents, the management team completes a daily walk around this involves speaking, dining, and interacting with residents. Our sincere condolences are always expressed to the family at the time of a resident's passing.

Mum has lived in Oak Springs since November 2020. I was most concerned at first that she might not have liked it. I need not have worried. She loves it! She constantly praises the wonderful staff and says they could not be kinder or more attentive. I have met many of them and they are absolutely dedicated
to every aspect of Mum's care and especially to making her life thoroughly enjoyable and full of fun! The amazing activities that are organised; singing, dancing, exercises, bingo, poetry and many more really stimulate the residents and give them so much pleasure. The staff are a delight to know and talk to and are always so reassuring about mum. I truly believe now that Oak Springs is the ideal place for mum to live.

Andrea

Andrea Lyon

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2010

With over 30 years experience of in nursing and care, Oak Springs’ registered manager Andrea Lyon has a well-practised approach to providing care with kindness, compassion and dignity.


Over her career she has worked in the NHS in a number of roles including acute medical wards, hospital night teams, discharge teams and as an A&E manager supporting junior doctors. She transitioned to residential care, where she has worked in various homes as a care manager, deputy manager, and now manager.


Her qualifications range from a Level 5 Certificate in management for health and social care to various Diplomas in dementia and care for older people, as well as awards in medication management, end of life care and residential care. In her spare time, Andrea enjoys spending time with family, including her three grandchildren and her dog Teddy, who will soon be trained to deliver pet therapy to those living in Oak Springs.


Amanda

Amanda Pettitt

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2010

Amanda’s role as deputy manager at Oak Springs perfectly complements her 11 years experience of in nursing and care. Starting as a health care assistant, she has demonstrated considerable passion and hard work, which has seen her progress to senior and managerial roles in a short space of time.


As well as deputising for our manager, Andrea, Amanda ensures that our philosophy of care is instilled across Oak Springs and works with members of the care team to deliver this. She has a number of qualifications and Diplomas in health and social care, dementia care, infection prevention and much, much more.


In her spare time, Amanda enjoys socialising with friends, taking long walks in country parks, visiting the theatre and travelling when she can.


Roisin

Roisin Chaplin

Job Title: Activity/Community Coordinator

Joined: 2021

I have been an Activity and Community Coordinator with Oak Springs since October 2022.


I engage with residents and their families to help organise, plan and carry out activities and trips. I provide entertainment within the home to stimulate the resident’s needs for fun, socialisation, interaction and mobility, all whilst boosting their confidence.


I ensure our residents feel involved and valued. I enjoy learning from our residents. They teach me new things every day. I just love chatting with them and listening to their life experiences and interests. My role enables me to be creative and to think outside the box, as no two days are ever the same!

I work on the Dementia unit here at Oak Springs and have done since I joined in January 2021. I am a dementia and wellbeing champion and love to help our residents with their needs daily. I love my job; I love caring for my residents and in my spare time I enjoy spending quality time with my family.
I am continually improving my knowledge and skills by learning more and more about dementia. I understand how dementia affects our residents individually and their families also. I am most proud of my role and its ability to help numerous residents every day and make a difference in their quality of life.

Job Title: Head Chef

Joined: 2017

I am the Head Chef at Oak Springs and have been working with the team since 2017. I am the home's nutrition and hydration champion! I make sure our resident's menus offer a varied diet, following the correct portion sizes and food groups. I meet with every new resident to find out their likes and dislikes, so I can then incorporate them into the food menu.


In my spare time, I enjoy baking and going on long walks. I always enjoy coming to work, interacting with the residents, and hearing their stories. I like making everyone meals they enjoy eating, plus every resident gets a homemade Birthday cake made for them on their special day. I like to incorporate personal touches onto the cake to go the extra mile to make them smile!
