I can't thank Oak Springs enough, they have gone above and beyond during the pandemic. The manager has ensured that we are always informed of the latest guidance; Oak Springs ensured that we had a Christmas Day in the visiting pod, we cannot thank you all enough. We had a hot chocolate and mince pie
with Mum in the pod, we watched her open her gifts, we sang Christmas songs together, and we were presented with a Christmas photograph of Mum that was just a wonderful idea. Thank you to the manager and staff for always going the extra mile. Thank you for allowing cherished moments during this terrible pandemic, and most of all, thank you for your amazing ideas, and always putting our families at the front of what you do.

My wife has been a resident of Oak Springs since January 2020. The care, cleanliness, food and the overall feel is amazing. From caring and understanding reception throughout the caring staff dealing with the day to day concerns of residents is truly outstanding.

Mum came to Oak Springs on April 4th 2018. From the outset we were welcomed as a family. As I sit beside my lovely mummy on her death bed I am comforted that for two whole years, she has had the very best of dementia care. She has 'lived' with her dementia! And thank everyone on behalf of our family,
from the manager to the carers, cooks, night staff I never met, laundry ladies, cleaners, reception, hairdresser; what an amazing team. We love you and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

My mum has lived at Oak Springs for 2 years and I can honestly say she has been so happy and well cared for. Sadly mum passed away due to illness. The care and compassion was a credit to them. The managers even brought her back from hospital to spend her final days with staff that she knew and loved.

Staff busy getting through assigned jobs. Too busy to spend with residents - only able because of time to instruct on the task they have requested eg, 'hold this, lift your foot' etc. Rarely observed talking with residents.

I have looked through the CCTV footage and do find that staff interact well with our residents, they are however very busy in the morning assisting residents with personal care, I notice that your visits are usually in the morning time. Staff do spend time with each resident interacting, however, I will observe more closely.

Our dad was only in the care home for a short while, but this did not alter the excellent care he received from the staff. The management, in particular, have gone out of their way to help and support our family at a very difficult time. They continue to do this even though he is no longer there.

At first, this home was fantastic, the girls on the first floor go above and beyond for the residents. The problem with this home is the management team. I cannot tell you what as a family we really think of them as its not that sort of forum but suffice to say if I knew that my mum would have been
treated the way she was by the management team I would never have agreed to allow her to stay here. I really wish I could say more but I can't but sometimes silence speaks volumes.

Went to Liverpool to see my cousin who has been in there for about a year, and turned up unexpectedly. She was cheerful, nicely dressed, relaxed, comfortable and full of praise for the staff and the facilities she had. Although she cannot walk, she had been helped into a chair (I was very impressed
with this), and she was chatting to the staff and other clients. She was grateful that her close relatives had taken the trouble to seek out this care home over some time and was delighted with her bedroom and routine.


I know that over the year there had been a few concerns about her health, and there had been referrals to hospital, but these had obviously been dealt with by the care staff of the home and certainly she was happy and well. It was also obvious that all the staff knew her personally and she was treated with dignity, respect and friendliness. I was very impressed.

I have no hesitation in recommending Oak Springs as a care home that provides all that is expected and more.
My brother has been a resident for nine months and has settled in well. He is cared for in a respectful and dignified way with the staff encouraging him to participate in activities etc.
His
medical needs are attended to professionally and he is accompanied to any specialist appointments etc by a member of staff. I am informed regularly of any information relating to my brother, where it be good news or otherwise.

My 91-year-old mother has been in the home for just over three weeks following discharge from hospital where her mental state had taken a turn for the worse. I had my doubts whether she would ever get back to her old self but largely due to the excellent care, kindness and support given by all the staff,
her improvement has been remarkable and she is smiling once more.
The home has a good feel to it the moment you walk through the door. This is helped by the fact it is a new build facility with plenty of light and air but most importantly by the dedication of the staff who obviously have many demands made on them due to the nature of dementia care.
The pre and post admission procedure was very well handled by both the manager and her assistant who did an assessment on my mother whilst she was in hospital.

The quality of care and the overall management of Royal Oak improved considerably over the two years of residency.
Many thanks go to all of the team, in particular, those who worked on the Dementia floor. Such a well run, positive and genuinely caring unit. They accepted my friend for who she was,
helping her to share her character and be loved by those around her. Her last years, days and nights were lived to the full and her passing was treated with the utmost dignity and respect.
Many fond memories created and remembered forever xx

The staff are caring and supportive of the residents and their families.
First floor residents are treated with dignity and respect. A lady always ensures the residents have fun music and opportunity to converse with her about past experiences and memories.
Another lady is kind and excellent and always
willing to listen to concerns of the family and there is a gentleman that provides great quality overnight care.
Ground Floor, our mother is well cared for with opportunity to maintain good mobility and to take part in the activities. The activity staff are excellent and provide interest and stimulation.
There is a male carer who is always willing to listen to family concerns. He is kind and caring as are the majority of the care staff.
Having our mother and father in Royal Oak Care Home help us to feel reassured about their wellbeing. Thank you.

My mother has only been in the home for a week. She was not keen to leave her home but it was inevitable. She is now much nearer to her family. The warmth of her welcome was great. Staff have very speedily got to know her likes and dislikes. They are attentive to all on her floor and their manner towards
residents that I have witnessed is exemplary.

My main concern was whether my mother would settle, having gone to Royal Oak from her own house, living independently. These worries soon disappeared, as she has settled in really well and has made new friends.

We were very lucky to get emergency respite here for the next day for my father-in-law, he had been at another care home but they couldn’t extend his stay for a few more weeks. The place is amazing compared to most other care homes, once you walk in it reminded me of a hotel and the staff are lovely
and friendly which helps. In the previous home they had struggled to get my father-in-law washed but when we came to visit after a couple of days he’d been in the jacuzzi bath and looked amazing, he took to this place amazingly and I think in time he will come here permanently as the care here is more than what we can do for him at home.

This is the third respite my father-in-law has been in and by far the best, staff and management couldn't do enough for him, if he didn't like the menu their chef was only too happy to help with something else, he has already been on the phone to family and friends recommending Royal Oak Care Home.
His daughter and I have passed on their phone number to our friends and work colleagues. He loves his room and private wet room, definitely value for money.

I can't thank Royal Court staff enough for the care and kindness they have shown my parents. They are all very professional and supportive. All resident care is centred on them as individuals and their immediate and long-term needs and are treated with dignity and respect. As well as fantastic staff,
the accommodation is excellent, lovely modern building and rooms are all comfortable and bright.

Andrea

Andrea Lyon

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2010

With over 30 years experience of in nursing and care, Oak Springs’ registered manager Andrea Lyon has a well-practised approach to providing care with kindness, compassion and dignity.


Over her career she has worked in the NHS in a number of roles including acute medical wards, hospital night teams, discharge teams and as an A&E manager supporting junior doctors. She transitioned to residential care, where she has worked in various homes as a care manager, deputy manager, and now manager.


Her qualifications range from a Level 5 Certificate in management for health and social care to various Diplomas in dementia and care for older people, as well as awards in medication management, end of life care and residential care. In her spare time, Andrea enjoys spending time with family, including her three grandchildren and her dog Teddy, who will soon be trained to deliver pet therapy to those living in Oak Springs.


Amanda

Amanda Pettitt

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2010

Amanda’s role as deputy manager at Oak Springs perfectly complements her 11 years experience of in nursing and care. Starting as a health care assistant, she has demonstrated considerable passion and hard work, which has seen her progress to senior and managerial roles in a short space of time.


As well as deputising for our manager, Andrea, Amanda ensures that our philosophy of care is instilled across Oak Springs and works with members of the care team to deliver this. She has a number of qualifications and Diplomas in health and social care, dementia care, infection prevention and much, much more.


In her spare time, Amanda enjoys socialising with friends, taking long walks in country parks, visiting the theatre and travelling when she can.


Roisin

Roisin Chaplin

Job Title: Activity/Community Coordinator

Joined: 2021

I have been an Activity and Community Coordinator with Oak Springs since October 2022.


I engage with residents and their families to help organise, plan and carry out activities and trips. I provide entertainment within the home to stimulate the resident’s needs for fun, socialisation, interaction and mobility, all whilst boosting their confidence.


I ensure our residents feel involved and valued. I enjoy learning from our residents. They teach me new things every day. I just love chatting with them and listening to their life experiences and interests. My role enables me to be creative and to think outside the box, as no two days are ever the same!


Jessica Griffin

Jessica Griffin

Job Title: Senior Health Care Assistant

Joined: 2021

I work on the Dementia unit here at Oak Springs and have done since I joined in January 2021. I am a dementia and wellbeing champion and love to help our residents with their needs daily. I love my job; I love caring for my residents and in my spare time I enjoy spending quality time with my family.
I am continually improving my knowledge and skills by learning more and more about dementia. I understand how dementia affects our residents individually and their families also. I am most proud of my role and its ability to help numerous residents every day and make a difference in their quality of life.

Rachelle White

Job Title: Head Chef

Joined: 2017

I am the Head Chef at Oak Springs and have been working with the team since 2017. I am the home's nutrition and hydration champion! I make sure our resident's menus offer a varied diet, following the correct portion sizes and food groups. I meet with every new resident to find out their likes and dislikes, so I can then incorporate them into the food menu.


In my spare time, I enjoy baking and going on long walks. I always enjoy coming to work, interacting with the residents, and hearing their stories. I like making everyone meals they enjoy eating, plus every resident gets a homemade Birthday cake made for them on their special day. I like to incorporate personal touches onto the cake to go the extra mile to make them smile!
