Grampian Court Care Home, situated in the friendly town of Peterlee, supports older people to lead their best lives with personalised residential and residential dementia care.

This warm, welcoming home offers a choice of several comfortable sitting rooms and dining areas, as well as its own hair and beauty salon and café. The lovely landscaped garden, which is looked after by residents and is a great place to relax in the warmer weather.

The catering team at Grampian Court understands the nutritional needs of older people and creates delicious meals which can be enjoyed in the spacious dining areas which provide a welcoming space to enjoy meals with fellow residents, or family and friends.

From care assistants to wellbeing coordinators and chefs, each and every member of the professional care team is there to support residents as they settle in to life at the home. They take time to learn about each resident’s hobbies and interests to design a comprehensive activity programme with something for everyone to enjoy. So whether they prefer enjoying some peace and quiet, engaging with the enriching activities programme or spending time with the Peterlee community, residents are supported to continue to enjoy the things they love most.

We were asked if we would like to join quiz night with my auntie. We had a wonderful night. I was made very welcome, all the staff are so helpful and nothing is a bother. Good company, music, quiz, a drink and snacks.

Mam received wonderful care from all the staff here. Every single one of them are really caring and compassionate. Although it was hard not being able to visit during COVID-19 I wasn’t concerned at all as I knew Mam was receiving first-class care. All staff work really hard in order to maintain the
high quality of care but they still have a smile and joke with the residents. I can’t thank them enough, especially Mam's last days. So lovely for them all to come outside and say a final farewell to Mam lining the road each side.

I am very pleased with the care my mother receives here, especially in the recent circumstances of Covid. I am so relieved to be able to trust the staff with her health and care and the fact that they have gone to extreme lengths to keep her safe. The staff provide a lot of extra things to entertain
the residents and it must be more difficult with not being able to have the usual people in. They have provided lots of entertainment, activities to help residents especially with lack of visitors at times.

Mam has been here 14 months and has been given really good care by all staff, Mam gets attention and mental stimulation that she needs, supervised meals, personal hygiene etc. I have no concerns for her welfare as she is doing well here. Standards in the home are high and staff works hard to achieve
them.

These have been worrying times for families who have been unable to see their loved ones. The manager and her staff keep us informed about how she is doing with telephone updates and photos, which is very reassuring for us. We will be forever grateful for all they have done for my Mum.

Emma Hume

Job Title: Home Manager

“For me, kind care is creating a homely environment where everyone feels respected, comfortable and content.”


As a dedicated healthcare professional, Emma has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked for HC-One for many years, Emma closely shares the company’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Grampian Court.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Emma remarked:


“I just love that no two days are ever the same, every day can be a new experience.”


Outside of work, Emma enjoys spending quality time with her two children, family and friends.
