Grampian Court Care Home, situated in the friendly town of Peterlee, supports older people to lead their best lives with personalised residential and residential dementia care.

This warm, welcoming home offers a choice of several comfortable sitting rooms and dining areas, as well as its own hair and beauty salon and café. The lovely landscaped garden, which is looked after by residents and is a great place to relax in the warmer weather.

The catering team at Grampian Court understands the nutritional needs of older people and creates delicious meals which can be enjoyed in the spacious dining areas which provide a welcoming space to enjoy meals with fellow residents, or family and friends.

From care assistants to wellbeing coordinators and chefs, each and every member of the professional care team is there to support residents as they settle in to life at the home. They take time to learn about each resident’s hobbies and interests to design a comprehensive activity programme with something for everyone to enjoy. So whether they prefer enjoying some peace and quiet, engaging with the enriching activities programme or spending time with the Peterlee community, residents are supported to continue to enjoy the things they love most.

Management is always adaptable and open to new ideas, helpful and approachable. Activities continue during the lockdown. A variety of activities given and tries to meet individual needs as well as whole groups. Night shift seems to do a good job getting my Mam ready. She always looks clean and tidy.
Food seems varied and good and tries to cater to my Mam's needs. Cleaning and laundry staff operate at a high standard.

It has been a difficult time for everyone but the staff have been very good. My mother had to go into a care home in June and the manager and all the staff made this move for mam and us as a family, as easy as they could. They care for her very well and I can not fault the staff.

So very grateful to the manager and all staff for working so hard to keep covid19 out of the home, much appreciated. Cannot thank them enough. They are admirable, could not have coped without their help and support.

My mother has settled well in Grampian Court and when not muddled, speaks well of the staff and also of the meals. I have had no concerns regarding Mam's care. Staff are friendly and helpful on the phone and during garden visits. As an NHS worker, I am happy with the precautions I see taken during the
current pandemic.

Since my husband entered the care home, I have been extremely pleased with his care. The staff are very caring and friendly and keep me informed on a regular basis about his wellbeing, especially as visiting has had to be restricted due to these trying times.

My mother is very happy at Grampian Court and the family are assured that her best interests are met. Staff always have some activity organised so the residents are kept entertained. All staff ensure the well-being of our mum, she is well fed and cared for.

Visited Mum today and staff made it a very safe and enjoyable visit. So lovely to see her, I just wished we could have hugged! Lovely to see everyone and have a friendly chat. The staff gave me a list of things Mum needs, perfectly shows they are caring for her so well.

Since the lockdown started, I have never had to worry about my mam. The staff have been excellent, keeping me up to date about everything that's been going on. Keeping the residents entertained and well looked after. I really appreciate everything the staff have done and are doing!

We really appreciate everything the staff at Grampian Court do for our mam and previously our dad.

The team have worked extremely hard to maintain a healthy happy home and a safe environment in the present climate. Mam is well cared for and is treated with dignity and care. During these very difficult times, staff have been marvellous with the care of my father. They are happy for us to contact them to give updates on my dad and to advise how he is. It is lovely to receive emails giving us updates and photos to let us know how he is doing. I appreciate the care they are
giving him in what are the most strange and difficult situations and times.

Emma Hume

Job Title: Home Manager

As a dedicated healthcare professional, Emma has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked for HC-One for many years, Emma closely shares the company’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Grampian Court.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Emma remarked:


“I just love that no two days are ever the same, every day can be a new experience.”


Outside of work, Emma enjoys spending quality time with her two children, family and friends.
