My friend has lived at Nelson Lodge for four years. In this time staff have supported her to keep her independence, she is happy, safe and the staff are very kind. The home has a lovely feel to it with good laughter and activities. The management team are always available for a chat, always met with
a friendly face from reception. I would highly recommend the home to anyone.

My father has been treated with dignity and respect. The staff always take the time to listen and ensure my father is included in the activities that he likes, particularly the nights in the pub with dominoes and cards. The food is good, and you can always order off the menu if you do not like the choices.
Always a lovely, warm welcome. Nothing is ever too much trouble.

As a full-time carer for my husband for ten years, I needed respite to visit my family in Australia. This has been the first time my husband decided to experience care in a residential care home rather than care at home. He has been much happier in Nelson Lodge, more stimulated and cannot praise the
care enough. He has felt very safe and valued. He is prepared to arrange another date for him to come in when I require further respite. We cannot praise Nelson Lodge and the carers enough for the care given to him as a temporary resident.

The staff at Nelson Lodge are very caring and friendly and helped my nan settle in and feel at ease very quickly.
Any changes in care needs were communicated with me, and I felt very assured that my nan's wishes were listened to and her needs were met.
Great management team, and nothing was too much
to ask for.

My Grandma has been in the home for about six months. It was a very tough decision but we couldn't have been in better hands. Everyone is so kind and it shows they care about the people they look after. The carers are attentive and nothing is too much trouble. The process of moving Grandma into the
home was made so much better by the office staff and from the first phone call, we knew as a family this was going to be the right place. Grandma enjoys the home and especially the live entertainment and is very happy which is the most important thing for us as a family.

I had a family member live at Nelson Lodge for a short period of time. The whole process was made very easy by the very friendly and welcoming staff. It was lovely to see how happy not only my loved one but all of the residents appeared to be. Overall, a great home that I would highly recommend.

My nan has been at Nelson Lodge for twelve months, in this time she has thrived, so much healthier and happier. The staff go above and beyond and nothing is too much trouble. The manager is experienced and focused on the home being person centred. I would recommend the home to any of my family or friends.

On the whole, it was a good experience. Mum was looked after well and the staff were helpful and cheerful. After a few weeks of rest and relaxation, Mum had improved a lot and her back pain had subsided. She enjoyed seeing the carers and having a chat and also having her meals with others. We would
definitely use it again when necessary.

I had to get my mum into care after losing my Dad suddenly last April.
She has been at Nelson Lodge just over a year and from day one the care she has had has been amazing. The staff have been so understanding to her needs - as well as mine.
I cannot thank them enough for looking after her, and me.

My sister and I were worried about moving mum to Nelson Lodge from a different care home. However, the process was made smooth and easy by the excellent staff there. All the carers have been exceptionally kind to Mum and helped her settle in. Their facilities are excellent and management of visits easy

This care home is an amazing place full of amazing dedicated staff.
They looked after my mum for nearly two years and they all did a wonderful job.
Mum was so happy here and as a family, we cannot praise every staff member enough.
From the managers to the cleaning staff, they all looked after mum
so well.
The staff were always covid compliant and made sure visitors wore the correct PPE. This gave us assurance that the residents, staff and visitors were being kept as safe as possible.
Sadly mum passed away recently and it was so touching that ALL the staff gave my mum a guard of honour as she left Nelson Lodge for the last time.
I would recommend this care home.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to mum’s Nelson Lodge family.

My nan has been a resident here for over two years. The care staff are nothing short of exceptional - it's amazing to see how kind they are to her when we visit, but also when we aren't there (she's a regular feature on the newsletter and Facebook page!). The home itself is lovely too - clean and well
kept. I really can't think higher of Nelson Lodge - the staff are really fantastic.

As a family, we were very anxious about Dad going into a home whilst COVID restrictions were still in place. However, staff at Nelson Lodge settled Dad into their home during the November lockdown with all the care and compassion we could have asked for. The staff keep the family updated and it is never
too much trouble whenever we call to see how Dad is. We have been able to stay in contact with Dad through video calls as often as we like and this certainly helped me to feel that we are still a family. The staff have all been very helpful during these calls as Dad often struggles with the new technology. All the staff are very friendly to Dad and the atmosphere within the home is of a calm, relaxed homely feel. Staff join in the organised themed days making them fun for the residents and makes me feel Dad is not missing out but actually gaining through being in such a happy environment. The manager, as well as all staff, is very approachable should you have any questions or concerns.

My dad went in for emergency respite care on New Years Eve following a series of falls and subsequent decreasing mobility. He ended up staying for a month and the transformation in him has been amazing!. He has put on weight and the improvement in his mobility is remarkable. In his own words 'you couldn’t
fault the food, especially the puddings!'. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend 5*.

The dedicated team at Nelson Lodge are true professionals with compassion. They are providing the quality of life my mother deserves and she is thriving on it. She now looks better than she did several years ago (not bad since she's over 90 with a neurodegenerative disease) and she's happy and content.
She needs 24/7 attention which she gets from the great members of staff who treat all the residents like their own family (or better). The environment is functional, always clean and homely enough. The food is excellent (I've sampled it a few times) and visiting was always welcome, any time of the day (before the current restrictions). Mum was/is in the best place especially during these difficult times, as I know the staff went above and beyond (where they could) Government guidelines.

Mum moved into Nelson Lodge in October 2018. At that time, she was extremely frail. Within a few weeks, she was getting back to her usual self.
Staff are very kind and attentive, know all residents names. Mum was put on a soft food diet, which is presented in many different ways. Being served smaller
portions has been the success to her eating. There can be very few places better than Nelson Lodge.

After spending five weeks in hospital I asked if Nelson Lodge could put my Mum up so she could have a couple of weeks respite. Within a week Mum seemed so much better and now has become a permanent resident.
A few months later and Mum looks like Mum again and this is all down to the fantastic staff
that look after and care for her, it is peace of mind for myself and my brother knowing that she is warm, fed, watered and above all... safe.
Nelson Lodge is clean and beautifully decorated and the reception area is bright and welcoming.
I’m so glad my Mum has decided to stay here, it’s also very convenient for me and my brother to visit.
The change in our mum is all down to the staff at Nelson Lodge and I can’t thank them enough.

My grannie has been at Nelson Lodge for a while now. The staff are always friendly and helpful when I have been in to see her. Now we cannot visit they have been great at setting up calls and FaceTime so we can still be in contact. Nothing is too much trouble. The home is always clean and my grannie's
room is too. She seems really happy there and well looked after, well fed and cared for. I would highly recommend this home to anyone. Keep up the amazing work team.

Jeanette

Jeanette Whitbread

Job Title: Manager

Joined: 2022

I am pleased to introduce myself as the new Home Manager at Nelson Lodge care home. I have worked in both the charity and care sectors for over 30 years. My experience includes 15 years with MENCAP, as a Registered Home Manager. I then joined Leonard Cheshire as a Quality Manager.


I love the care sector and I am very passionate about care and its delivery. I have lived in St Neots for over 20 years, and I see strengthening the relationships Nelson Lodge has with their local community as a vital part of my new role. I’m keen to support our resident’s connections with our local community. I’m passionate about introducing students and young people into the care profession, where I started a programme for Health and Social Care undergraduates at a local college.


In my spare time, I enjoy touring the UK with my much-loved caravan and spending time with my family and my gorgeous Granddaughter.


I have received a wonderfully warm welcome from Anchor and the team at Nelson Lodge. I am looking forward to being able to deliver the best outcomes for all at Nelson Lodge, from residents to colleagues, families and loved ones, as well as the local community and very much to meeting you all soon.
