Opened in March 2017, Stockmoor Lodge is a purpose-built home providing residential, nursing, and dementia care, located in Bridgwater.

The home comes complete with a hairdressing salon and coffee lounge on-site and offers a varied programme of daytime activities for residents and day care visitors.

The home is staffed by a team of trained and qualified nurses and experienced health care assistants. Meals are prepared daily on-site by a dedicated kitchen team.

The bedrooms at Stockmoor Lodge are bright, spacious and en-suite, and although furnished, residents are welcome to bring their own furniture if they so choose. Accommodation is situated over three floors, accessible by lift, with views of the Sedgemoor countryside.

A renowned interior designer has combined practical features with colourful, eye-catching detail to create an environment which is understanding of the needs of those living with dementia. She works closely with the dementia services development centre at the University of Stirling and is Chairman of the SBID Healthcare Design Advisory Council.

After being a resident at Stockmore Lodge for two years, Mum passed away in January aged 98 after 11 long weeks at end of life. During that time, my sister and I took turns to sit with her throughout the day. The staff respected our desire to do as much for mum as we were able and were always wonderfully
caring and considerate of our needs as well as mum's. Mum received excellent care. We were with her for the last 26 hours, and when she passed away we were overwhelmed by the genuine love and support we were shown by all the staff, not merely the frontline nurses and carers. Moreover, we were deeply moved by the dignity and respect shown to mum in death. The last two years have been emotionally draining as we daily faced mum's declining health and the inevitable. So often we have witnessed staff going above and beyond in their care of residents. We know in our hearts that despite not being able to care for her at home, Mum was loved as well as cared for by the wonderful team at Stockmoor Lodge. Thank you all.

My mum joined Stockmoor Lodge in January for respite care. It was a difficult decision for us as a family, as mum had been so independent prior to a recent hospital stay. We should never have worried!
It soon became apparent, to both mum and the family, that staying as a full time resident, was going
to be the best option for her. We all initially struggled to accept that this may be her new home, but after the support shown to her by all the staff, the kindness and consideration the transition has been easy.
All of the staff work really hard at making Stockmoor a cosy, active, loving and secure home and the improvement in mums health, both mental and physical has been amazing.
The management, in particular, have made sure that the family have been involved and informed with all aspects of Mum's stay and they have gone above and beyond to help us facilitate her move. A million thanks will never be enough, they have given me back my mum.

This is the second time my husband has been in Stockmoor Lodge for respite and I cannot praise the staff enough the home is so clean, the food is 5 star all credit to the chefs and kitchen team a healthy choice. His bedroom was very well laid out with own en-suite and the home is lovely and warm. Number
one he was on the dementia wing and all the staff are so friendly and caring anyone thinking of a home for a family member I can highly recommend and it is completely secure.
From the minute you walk in the reception team are welcoming and you always feel like part of a big family in there.
The management staff and their teams are to be highly recommended.
The activities are well organised and there is always something going on and not to forget the resident rabbit.
I cannot fault anything and would just like to pass my thanks onto everyone at Stockmoor Lodge 10 out of 10 and thank you for caring for my husband so well a Happy Christmas to you all and your families.

I come in to see a friend monthly and every time I come in everybody is so friendly and polite. I always get offered a drink too. It's a pleasure to visit and it's very homely and clean.

My Father was looked after as a palliative care patient, the last 3 months of his life were at Stockmoor Lodge where he was given care at the highest level pair control was effective, and dignity was at all times maintained. All the staff were/are amazing. Thank you.

Transferring my parents from their home to a care home has always been one of my greatest fears. When the time finally came and they moved to Stockmoor Lodge Care Home I knew that my prayers had been answered. There are not enough words to describe how happy I am to see the excellent care given to both
of my parents. I am assured that they both feel loved and safe with their caregiving. My family and I feel more than welcome when we visit and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The expertise of the staff is second to none and I have witnessed first-hand how they go the extra mile for their residents. I am beyond grateful for Stockmoor Lodge.

I cannot praise all the staff whatever their position highly enough. Everyone gives their all in maintaining the cleanliness and the care and welfare of my wife as well as all other residents. My wife has changed a lot for the better since she was admitted. If there are any problems they don't hesitate
to notify me. I have no concerns about her welfare as I know she is happy and well cared for.

Mum has been a resident at Stockmoor Lodge for 18 months. Throughout this time family members have visited daily. We always feel welcome and still feel part of Mum's care which is very important to us. Mum is no longer mobile and has to be hoisted. Due to her illness, she cannot understand instructions
but staff repeat this kindly many times daily. As she is unable to make decisions she is toileted regularly which saves Mum from a big source of distress.
Staff are always approachable and encourage any concerns to be raised quickly. Where these have arisen they have been resolved promptly. We have been and remain very happy with the care Mum receives. Staff are always caring and compassionate to us all. We would not hesitate to recommend Stockmoor Lodge.

My husband has recently had two weeks of respite care at Stockmore Lodge. The home is bright very clean spacious and initially feels as though you are walking into a modern hotel. All staff were friendly, welcoming, skilled and supportive to both my husband me and all my husband's visitors. It was clear
that detailed records are kept and staff were always able to give me full answers to any of my questions. My husband was appreciative of the care he received and said that the staff were lovely people and in his words 'it was nice here'. I know that my husband took part in many of the activities available.
Although feeling guilty about arranging respite care, I know that I did the right thing as I had a much-needed rest and my husband returned home looking well and confirmed that he was well looked after.

Came to look at Stockmoor Lodge on behalf of our stepmum. We were impressed as soon as we arrived. Very friendly staff welcomed us and we felt this was the ideal home for our stepmum. I am very happy my mum and dad in law are being cared for here. Everyone is so nice and friendly to them, nothing is any bother, they have nice rooms and get staff constantly checking they are okay or need anything. There are lovely balconies where they love to go and sit and watch the children playing
and traffic moving along with countryside hill views to see. The food is of a very high standard and father in law laps it up, always looks nice and plentiful. I would recommend this home to anyone wanting peace of mind for their loved ones.

Stockmoor Lodge is exactly the nursing home I pictured in my mind's eye when needing to accommodate my father.
Dad had very complex health needs and from the time an initial assessment was undertaken it was clear they would be ideal for him.
When he moved in all of the nursing staff had taken the
time to understand Dad’s requirements and devoted time to him to further their understanding. Dad was treated in a way that was “normal”. A lot of laughter and smiles from both the staff and dad reassured me this was the best place for dad. When additional equipment was needed it was found promptly. If calls had to be made to GPs or paramedics the staff were in touch with me in a very timely manner.
The care staff grew to understand Dad’s little quirks very quickly and could assist him more than others had in the past.
The family feeling in the home made both Dad and my family feel welcome any time of day or night. Stockmoor Lodge is an outstanding place to reside.

My mum spent her first ever week in the care home at the age of 91.; this was very hard for her. The experience was amazing. She enjoyed the whole week. Her room was like a hotel room - spacious and spotlessly clean. Her food was plentiful and she enjoyed all of it. She loved playing bingo and dominoes
- not done for years and liked talking to other residents in the day room.
We will not hesitate for her to go out again for respite care.
